@Linlee1000 because otherwise, he wouldn't be able to charge extremely high fees to those who deserve to be charged, and he wouldn't be able to do certain medical procedures that are highly unheard of in the medical world.
Re: discussion between Dr. K and woman-What a horrible message to send to and about disabled people. The writers should be ashamed of themselves. While Black Jack's intervention seems to undercut Dr. K's pernicious attitude toward the handicapped, one wonders what his attitude would be if he could not cure her-acceptance of the handicapped depends entirely upon their curability. Disgusting.
@Progo35 This story wasn't written by multiple writers - that was exactly how it happened in the original manga, written by Tezuka himself. It's a fascinating topic to argue about, as is much of Medicine itself. Here comes my two cents.
On one hand, the woman refuses to accept her own handicapped condition. She can't allow herself to weigh her children down and was the one who hired Kiriko in the first place. She doesn't want to be bed and wheelchair-ridden her entire life, which she will be, regardless of how well she adjusts to her condition. However, when discovers that her children really believe that Black Jack can cure her, she decides, like Black Jack, to go for an all-or-nothing approach.
@Neriad13@Progo35 A bit more about Kiriko now. He has absolutely nothing against the handicapped - to the contrary, I believe that he has an intense love for them. His secret is in his backstory, in his history as an army doctor. In that period, his patients were men who were blown to bits by guns and bombs, but who still held to a shred of life.
@Neriad13@Progo35 They asked him for permission to die and thanked him happily when he agreed to assist them to that end. His mission is to help people who truly don't want to live any longer.
And finally, Black Jack and Kiriko have met many times previously. With each meeting, the depth of their hatred for one another has grown exponentially.
@Neriad13@Progo35 It seems that they can't get along, as Black Jack is a man who so rigorously defends Life, especially in patients who cling to a painful existence with all their strength (like he did as a child) and Kiriko advocates the sanctity of Death and the release from pain (as his soldier patients did). As things are so bad between them and emotions are way past boiling point, both of them tend to get very egotistical and irrational when they come into contact with each other.
I mean, she's in love with Black Jack! His face is scarred, stitched-up, and two different skin tones! They're both handsome, but to the average person... scary! xD;
Obviously that Pinwheel is a priceless artifact, worth well over 50,000,000 yen. Men have died trying to uncover it, and it has been passed around the Black Market several times.
ok if hes in jail how can he go all these places and why where they looking for hi,m in the first place? im lost ive seen almost every episode and i still dont know that answer helppp!!!

Aww, he took the pinwheel instead of the money~ :3
Which makes me think:
Boy: Are you Dr. Black Jack? Please save our mother.
Black Jack: Got any pinwheels?
Imao I don't think I'd call Dr. Kiriko "handsome", maybe "charismatic". In a really twisted way. xD
chiisainomahou 7 months ago
That was sweet of Dr. Black Jack to take the pinwheel rather than the money, but there has been something bothering me...
Where in the heck does Pinoco see handsome in Dr. Kiriko?
Intimidating? Yes.
Creepily scary? Yes.
Handsome... huh?

@Neriad13 @Progo35 I'm not saying that their contest is justified - but what I am implying is that this isn't the way either of them normally act.
M'kay, I'm getting off my soapbox now and watching the rest of the movie.

He also voiced Maximillian Jenius from Macross, so it's no surprise that his voice appeals to so many pimps of 80s culture.
