When "Maybe your the son who chose a broken road" I almost cried for it fit the bill plus half of the song really spoke to me. I believe this song misses an important aspect of Jesus' death. This song defeats the purpose of God's grace. Grace is unmerited favor, meaning we did nothing to earn it. Jesus died for us so we could spend eternity glorifying Him and enjoying His presence. The idea of this song is right; they just sang it the wrong way. God loves us so much He stretched out His arms and died for us so we could be in His presence forever. Not because we are worth it, but because He is good.

I am so sick of people saying things on here like this is wrong and a complete lie. It's not. John 3:16 says, and I'm quoting this directly oh of my Bible, "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life". That means that God sent Jesus, his one son, to earth knowing that he would die to cover our sins. Therefor, God believes we are worth dying for. You were just proved wrong by a 14 year old girl.

With respect, the question is not whether God sent Jesus as an expression of love for humans. The question is whether God saw anything attractive or desirable in humans that would motivate Him to make the decision to send His only Son as an expression of love for them. God sent His only Son, Jesus the Christ, with full knowledge and understanding that they were not worth dying for. The only thing that man is worthy of is the wrath of a good God.
@97JESUSfreak08 You in fact minimize the love of God by thinking that God saw something attractive in us that motivated him to love us. It is humbling and more beautiful knowing that we were not attractive to God and if fact all we had ever done is rebel against him and express our hatred for Him by our sin and then He still chose become the curse that we deserved to become. Do you really need to believe that you are worth dying for in order to believe that Jesus actually died for you?

It is a Christian song, and the words are meant to show that Jesus died for everyone, no matter who they are, what they've done/said, no matter what. NO MATTER WHAT. The 14-year old girl who posted earlier is right. The Scriptures prove it. Jesus died for everyone, because He loves us and deems us worthy of redemption. Btw, I'm a missionary-in-training, and in college now. Particularly studying theology. So no. YOU are wrong.
@Spartanfanatic Thanks! :) I'm not sure yet, but I'm going on a 2 week missions trip to France in May. And I might go to Ireland and/or Montana someday...but that could just be me wanting to see Ireland and Montana. So I'm not sure where I am called to yet, but I trust that the Lord will show me where He wants me to go. My school works with/ministers to human trafficking victims, and that's what we'll be doing in France. I can't wait.

Right now I've signed up for a 2-year degree in Intercultural Ministry, and to graduate I need to go on two short-term evangelistic missions (STEM) trips with the college. Once I do that I'm thinking of switching to the 4 year program, so that I can go on a 16-month internship somewhere. The school is thinking of opening up an internship in Brazil. I'm hoping I'll get to go.

Both of your responses show a bit of a misunderstanding of the breadth of interpretation for what the Bible says with regard to salvation and election. A hyper-Calvinist for instance takes a completely different interpretation of 3:16 and ...

Certainly we can do nothing to get God’s love, as we are indeed saved by grace. However, at the same time, would God show His love toward something that is worthless? In that He would send His one and only unique and begotten Son to die for something that is worthless?

A simple understanding of the Romans Road tells us that all have sinned, none understand, and none seek. His death and resurrection are an act of grace, which by definition is the unmerited favor of God toward us. It is unmerited... meaning we are unworthy of it.

He is giving us the worth or making us the ones essentially the objects of worth to Him, not that we deserve it or that it is owed to us…but that we have His unmerited favor bestowed on us.

I think it's great that you are both attending Christian schools and studying theology in preparation to serve the Lord in ministry. @Firejuggler7 That's just it, though. We ARE worth dying for in God's eyes. We are His creation, His children. We are more precious to Him than the lilies in the field and the birds in the air. We are tarnished from our sin, letting ourselves believe that we are not worthy of His love, but no matter how far we fall, or how far we go, He is always waiting there for us to come back. He offered us the gift of salvation and redemption through Christ's death. Therefore we ARE someone worth dying for.

i'm 20, ive lost my job due 2 car problems, my cars engine blew only after having it for 3 months from a dealers & my previous car was totaled while on the job. I have been searching for a new Job like crazy with no prevail, im being harassed by debt collectors, & like in the song i felt like i was the girl who would end up all alone. I am so sick of people saying things on here like this is wrong and a complete lie. It's not. John 3:16 says, and I'm quoting this directly oh of my Bible, "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life". That means that God sent Jesus, his one son, to earth knowing that he would die to cover our sins. Therefor, God believes we are worth dying for. You were just proved wrong by a 14 year old girl.

With respect, the question is not whether God sent Jesus as an expression of love for humans. The question is whether God saw anything attractive or desirable in humans that would motivate Him to make the decision to send His only Son as an expression of love for them. God sent His only Son, Jesus the Christ, with full knowledge and understanding that they were not worth dying for. The only thing that man is worthy of is the wrath of a good God.

It is humbling and more beautiful knowing that we were not attractive to God and if fact all we had ever done is rebel against him and express our hatred for Him by our sin and then He still chose become the curse that we deserved to become. It is a Christian song, and the words are meant to show that Jesus died for everyone, no matter who they are, what they've done/said, no matter what. NO MATTER WHAT. The 14-year old girl who posted earlier is right. The Scriptures prove it. Jesus died for everyone, because He loves us and deems us worthy of redemption. Btw, I'm a missionary-in-training, and in college now. Particularly studying theology. So no. YOU are wrong.

@Spartanfanatic Thanks! :) I'm not sure yet, but I'm going on a 2 week missions trip to France in May. And I might go to Ireland and/or Montana someday...but that could just be me wanting to see Ireland and Montana. So I'm not sure where I am called to yet, but I trust that the Lord will show me where He wants me to go. My school works with/ministers to human trafficking victims, and that's what we'll be doing in France. I can't wait.

Right now I've signed up for a 2-year degree in Intercultural Ministry, and to graduate I need to go on two short-term evangelistic missions (STEM) trips with the college. Once I do that I'm thinking of switching to the 4 year program, so that I can go on a 16-month internship somewhere. The school is thinking of opening up an internship in Brazil. I'm hoping I'll get to go.

Both of your responses show a bit of a misunderstanding of the breadth of interpretation for what the Bible says with regard to salvation and election. A hyper-Calvinist for instance takes a completely different interpretation of 3:16 and ...

Certainly we can do nothing to get God’s love, as we are indeed saved by grace. However, at the same time, would God show His love toward something that is worthless? A simple understanding of the Romans Road tells us that all have sinned, none understand, and none seek. His death and resurrection are an act of grace, which by definition is the unmerited favor of God toward us. It is unmerited... meaning we are unworthy of it.

Are you not worth much more than they?”

He is giving us the worth or making us the ones essentially the objects of worth to Him, not that we deserve it or that it is owed to us…but that we have His unmerited favor bestowed on us.

He displayed His perfect love on the cross so we can see and know His Glory.
It wasn't because man was worth dying for
It was because; His love is so perfect that it desereved to be given to undeserving people

this song kind of misses the point of salvation, you are NOT someone worth dying for, but God still loves you so he sent his son Jesus to die for your sins.

@Firejuggler7 That's just it, though. We ARE worth dying for in God's eyes. We are His creation, His children. We are more precious to Him than the lilies in the field and the birds in the air. We are tarnished from our sin, letting ourselves believe that we are not worthy of His love, but no matter how far we fall, or how far we go, He is always waiting there for us to come back. He offered us the gift of salvation and redemption through Christ's death. Therefore we ARE someone worth dying for.

Every person on this earth is brought into this earth for a purpose, before u where ever born god had a plan for all of us although times might be hard enduring the test to build christlike character and everyone must go through this to find christ, where living in a broken world a tent compared to as a house in heaven 1 day we will all be home.
