Book of Acts 15:19-21 reveal that Nazarenes ("the Jews") wanted Paul stoned as his doctrine was apostasy (no circumcision). These "Jews" were Jesus' main followers. @clarkewi James is not contradicting Jesus & Paul concerning salvation with that statement. He's agreeing with Paul (2 Cor. 5:17) that anyone who's truly born again and saved will show good works to follow. Anything else is just a head knowledge faith like the demons have (James 2:19). Acts 15 is about the Jews adding the Law to the Gospel. Same thing Paul addresses in Galatians. They voted against this, not for it.
And as I said, Peter agrees that all of Paul's epistles are Scripture.
@familybc146 Paul's letters to these apostate churches came later. At the time of the Jerusalem Council described in Acts 15 there were only Nazarenes. There was no "gospel". There was no New Testement. There was only "coming to God in the synogogue as was done in Moses time on the Sabbath day" as Acts 15 requires. That is what Jesus was trying to spread. Coming to God's Laws. The "Pillars" required gentiles only need become Noahides in order to enter the synogogue on the Sabbath day..
@clarkewi First of all, these weren't apostate churches. Paul planted most of them, and John pastored the church at Ephesus. That's why Paul addresses them as "saints" in several epistles such as Rom. 1:7, 1 Cor. 1:2, 2 Cor. 1:1, Eph. 1:1& Phil. 1:1.
If there was no Gospel before the Epistles then how did people get saved before then? Hint: read Rom. 4 & Gal. 3. Jesus wanted people to come to Him, not the Law. He knew they couldn't keep the Law (Mt. 19:26 & Sermon on the Mount - Mt. 5:48)

Book of Acts 15:19-21 reveal that Nazarenes ("the Jews") wanted Paul stoned as his doctrine was apostasy (no circumcision). These "Jews" were Jesus' main followers. Whatever their doctrine was, was also the real doctrine of Jesus himself. Paul changed it to make it "easier" for gentiles. Perhaps this was an error as it lead to "Roman Xtianity" and the Vatican?

@clarkewi No, He was referring to Peter's future crucifixion. You left out the next verse (John 21:19). Read Acts 15:28-31 for your next answer. The Jews were Jesus' main followers until He separated them in John 6:64-67 where only the 12 were left.
And if you think Paul came up with salvation by faith in Christ alone on his own, read John 3:16; 5:24; 6:40,47 & 11:25-26. If anything the Vatican adhered to the Jewish idea of salvation through the keeping of the Law.

@clarkewi James is not contradicting Jesus & Paul concerning salvation with that statement. He's agreeing with Paul (2 Cor. 5:17) that anyone who's truly born again and saved will show good works to follow. Anything else is just a head knowledge faith like the demons have (James 2:19). Acts 15 is about the Jews adding the Law to the Gospel. Same thing Paul addresses in Galatians. They voted against this, not for it.
And as I said, Peter agrees that all of Paul's epistles are Scripture.

@familybc146 Paul's letters to these apostate churches came later. At the time of the Jerusalem Council described in Acts 15 there were only Nazarenes. There was no "gospel". There was no New Testement. There was only "coming to God in the synogogue as was done in Moses time on the Sabbath day" as Acts 15 requires. That is what Jesus was trying to spread. Coming to God's Laws. The "Pillars" required gentiles only need become Noahides in order to enter the synogogue on the Sabbath day..

@clarkewi First of all, these weren't apostate churches. Paul planted most of them, and John pastored the church at Ephesus. That's why Paul addresses them as "saints" in several epistles such as Rom. 1:7, 1 Cor. 1:2, 2 Cor. 1:1, Eph. 1:1& Phil. 1:1.
If there was no Gospel before the Epistles then how did people get saved before then? Hint: read Rom. 4 & Gal. 3. Jesus wanted people to come to Him, not the Law. He knew they couldn't keep the Law (Mt. 19:26 & Sermon on the Mount - Mt. 5:48)

He went crazy because he believed he was becoing a scholar/philosopher, which were people he hated, thus he was told by his wife (or wife's sister) that he was a prophet, which wouldn't make him feel as bad.
