So she offered to make payments on a $33k debt and they refused payments? She might want to check her state legislature because in some states if a creditor refuses a payment it nullifies the debt.
The newest Wall Street/Debt Collection strategy is to sell your old accounts to others for collection, even those that were included in one's bankruptcy.
EXAMPLE: Citifinancial sells vehicle accounts to Santander, a new world-wide
auto loan entity, who then tries to collect , ILLEGALLY, on such loans.
FACT: Any contract, such as an auto loan, CANNOT be altered without BOTH parties agreeing. Bottom line...QUIT VOTING REPUBLICAN!!!!
What damages did they cause her? Bank of America harasses everyday too! Nationwide put a bad collection thing on my crdit because I dropped them and refused to pay them the last 2 months ofa 6 month policy. I got pissed off because they said for 4 months that they would fix and lower my bill and they never did! Screw Nationwide!!

When you signed a legal binding contract for that card you are agreeing to the consequences of what will happen if a payment is missed...The small print isnt just there for people not to read it actually does inform you of all this. I love how when people get themselves in these situations it ends up being everyone elses faut but there own..Take some responsiablity for your spending habits
No one is saying that the debt is someone eases fault...The problem is the fact that these collection agencies are BREAKING FEDERAL LAWS trying to collect on old debts. I challenge you to show me ANYWHERE on any 'signed legal contract' for that card", that states that the company or their assigns have the right to break FEDERAL LAWS to try an collect on a delinquent account?
Yes - true, but what happens when circumstances beyond your control happen. She is not asking to walk away from the debt. She is asking to be treated with dignity and to make some type of arrangement to fullfill her responsibilities under the situation she is now. I HOPE YOU NEVER LOSE YOUR JOB & NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HOW YOU WILL FEED YOUR CHILDREN & WORRY IF YOU WILL HAVE A ROOF OVER YOUR HEAD DUE TO UNEMPLOYMENT! HOW DARE YOU MAKE A JUDGEMENT WITHOUT KNOWING HER CIRCUMSTANCES!
I want you to know that this debt company you employ is violating the Fair Debt Act in every way. I called them today, after they still called my work and mom even though I said that was not allowed, and now I learned they have called a boss from 2 years ago? This is a clear violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act; they have slandered me just because of 2 months of missed payments?
we have been victimized by these people so long.I have a credit card w Best Buy for 1500 and I paid a lesser amount for only 2 months and always paid on time for years, with a 24% interest. They have harassed me calling daily at work, ex bosses, my mom, threatened me, etc for 2 months of a 100 dollars missed. I know the Fair Debt Collection Act, and when I asked them about this, they hung up on me, yelled at me, and I was never rude. they slandered me. And told ex bosses about my debt
I think a lawsuit of 20 million in dammages sounds about good for this woman.
