  • Love your guys's help with something, I have a 98 Sierra manual door lock that rotates freely sometimes. When its cold (I live in the Yukon) the keys are almost impossible to turn and I feel like its gonna bend the key but then the key can spin 360 degrees plus. Is it just in need of some lube and a tighter retaining mechanism?

  • @TheRx350 You would need to remove the door panel on the door and see if there's something that needs to be tightened on the key lock inside of the door. It may have come loose somehow. Hope this helps.

  • @1aauto hi my friend i accidentally took the door lock of my truck and it doesnt close do you think its completely damaged ? if you know a solution pleasee help me

  • @marcobino You may have to play around with the latch adjustment. If it doesn't latch at all. The latching mechanism could be stuck in the closed position. If it is you can usually get a flat head screwdriver in there and open the latches back up. If you're not sure what it's suppose to look like you can refer to the latch on the opposite side of the car. Hope this helps you out.

  • Hi, my 1999 Escalade front passenger door is locked shut. It appears the actuator has seized and won't let the door open. The other locks work using the FOB or the inside lock switch. My PIA is trying to get the door open without damaging the door panel. Any insight or assistance with a solution to getting the panel door off from the inside of a door that is locked shut would be greatly appreciated. thanks,

    Guy

  • @guybini HI Guy, when this happens it's a not an easy task getting the door panel off. We carry the replacement door lock actuator actuators for your 99 Cadillac Escalade on our website 1aauto.com

Here's a link that you can copy and paste into your browser also, which will go right to the part.

  • Hi guys, i see some are asking questions, so I'll shoot one too.

I have a Ford F-150, half cab.. however, one of the rear doors won't open, only the rear driver door works. is there a way to fix the other one? Something may be wrong inside the door and I don't know what it might be, if someone could direct me to a forum or a video that would be great. Thanks.

  • @mistermexxico You may want to use a test light to see if there's power going to the actuator inside the door. If there is then the door lock actuator is more than likely bad. If there's no power to the actuator, check the fuse and then the door lock switch.

If there's power coming from the switch, check the door harness that goes between the driverside door and the body of the truck. Many times a wire can become frayed or even break causing things like power windows and locks not to work.

  • @1aauto thanks a lot, I'll give it a try.

  • Hi: Interesting video tutorial. alone a technical question: The light of white mica with red that is ignited on having opened the door to replace the bulb. It is nesesario to remove the lid of the door or it does to itself dede the mica thank you for his response.

  • Thanks for the video! My actuator from 1AAuto didn't quite fit the bracket from my 99 Tahoe, but just a little grinding on the bracket with a MotoTool fixed it ( the hole for the alignment stud on the acutator didn't quite match.) Also 1/8 sheet metal screws weren't big enough to hold in the bracket holes, and since I couldn't quickly find bigger screws, I pop riveted it with 5/32 rivets. Works great so far!

  • Question: My passenger rear door lock went out; but I lived with it. Months later hte fuse has blown- (a 25 amp yellow mini). When I change it out, it just blows again. Is this likely the actuator from the problem door, or is this something else?

  • @edpdx There may be a frayed wire somewhere making the fuse blow.If there is, it's probably coming in contact with something metal.

  • where can I get the new power lock part for my Chevy sub is junk yard OK

  • If the power lock actuator goes bad can you still lock and unlock manually ??? 3 of my 95 suburban lock won't lock by power or manually, I'm wondering if it's the actuator or the manually lock switch??? please help

  • Great video...but does it work for GMC jimmy 2001?

  • @staaberelli The bolt head was 10mm. I think the are m6 1.5 cm.

  • I have a 2001 Chevy Suburban and needing to know how to get the rear and front door panels off, and also how to remove their stock door speakers, any help?

  • @CHSLION There is a video for removing the door panel on a 2002 Sierra. That is the same as your suburban. The rear door panel then comes off similarly to the front.

  • Excellent video, this will save me alot of frustration.

  • These videos are great ... thanks for helping me keep my old 97 Tahoe on the road and looking good!

  • I have a 2004 yukon denali and the driver door is locked and will not open from the inside or with the key. I want to replace the system behind the panel and have all the necessary materials. But how do I get the door to open to do this?

  • @cllggrlnow Check out my video on 99-06 silverado sierra door panel removal. This should get you most of the wway there, although there still may be a couple differences.
