@stilwel Hey really nice playing. I'm looking at a riviera now, is yours one of the Korean/chinese types that are around £400-£500 or a vintage one? Do you have any idea how different the Nick Valensi one is with the p94 pickups in it?
Also which pickups did you put in it please? Keep up the good work!
@DarClaude This is a mid 90's Korean model....and I put Gibson P94 pickups in it just like the Nick Valensi model. I'm not a Valensi fan or anything, I just happen to like semi-hollow guitars with P90's.
Love it...one of my favorite guitars. It was a fine instrument completely stock, but I changed out the pickups and installed a bigsby trem and new tuners, now it's irreplaceable.
@stilwel thanks for the reply i am happy to say i will be getting an epiphone riviera soon and thanks for your help and advice. i will almost certainly change the pickups (p94's) when i have some spare money and will consider other changes nearer the time. thanks again!
NIce "tone". Is there a reason to spend so much money on digital effects processors, when instead you could buy the real VOX AC30 ? Because I'm going in the same direction. All I got is digital except the MXR Eq and an ISP decimator. Thanks for sharing your videos.
It´s right, the Pod kills the tone. I´ve got a podXT in a DIY parallel loop in front of the amp to keep the tone of my AC15. The Edge also has a parallel mixing system... And he can add a second Vox, without any digital crap ;-)
just wondering if you think the delay from the M13 could replace the D-Two unitim considering buying the M13, but not sure if I should use my D-two with it, or just use its delay. Also, why did you get the M13 if you have Axe-FX? just wondering
love your playing. I cant believe how many people dont know the name of this song. Boggles my mind. My question for you is this. What is the little blue box infront of your FX1. Is it a booster of some kind? Whats it called? thanks again
Your comment could possibly have some merit, if not for the fact that I don't own an AC30. Those are Vox speaker cabinets. The sound you are hearing is the AC30 sim in the Pod XT Pro.
Again, i love your guitar and setup, but i wanted to know how are the 1990's riviera? I heard people changing the bridge and the electronics because they were problematic and cheaply done. I just wanted input from someone who owned one before i buy one
Great guitar, I love it. However, since this vid was recorded I have completely replaced ALL of the electronics. New pickups (Gibson P94's) and new pots, switch etc. There wasn't anything necessarily wrong with the old pickups, but I wanted a guitar with P90 tones.
Are you using the pod xt simply for effects? Or are you using the amp models and stuff like that? Do you know if the pod xt pro can be used simply for effects? If so please tell. Thanx
For that kind of stuff with more gain I would recommend a solid-body guitar. If you're going to be using distortion, then you want a solid-body (les paul, strat) or semi-hollow (Riv), definitely NOT a fully hollow guitar like the Casino.
Originally this guitar would have come with a white pickguard. I bought it used and the guard was already removed. Since I made this video, a year ago, I've put a gibson ES-335 style black pickguard on the guitar.
Do you play in a tribute band? Or a real band? Like where do you get the money to buy all of that, and like do you put it to use in a band or something? I'm not trying to sound rude, but like, I would want all of those effects and stuff, but not unless I NEEDED it.
oh wow that's a sweet sounding guitar !!! Do you know of the Epi Sheraton ??? How different is the Riviera from it? and what's the diff w/ minihumbuckers ???
Yes, I've owned several Epi Sheratons. The main diff between a Sheraton and MY Riviera is the tailpiece. The Sheraton has a stop-tail piece. My Riviera had a floating tailpiece. I've since removed that and installed a Bigsby vibrato though. My Riviera doesn't have mini-humbuckers it has full-size HB's.

hey mate nice job just wondering what effect you add @ 109.
ayehay 2 years ago
That's a rotary speaker type of effect courtesy of the DHP33.
stilwel 2 years ago
I have a jmp-1 with that poweramp.. do you recommend me the pod? I want to have effects.. Ty
1akez1 2 years ago
The Pod XT Pro is a good all-in-one solution for amps/fx and is available on the used market pretty cheap...so yeah, I'd recommend it.
stilwel 2 years ago
What poweramp/cab are you using? Are you happy with the sound of the the pod? ty
1akez1 2 years ago
This rig had a Marshall VS8008 power amp and 2 Vox speaker cabinets. The Pod XT Pro sounds great, and is the heart of that rig.

Yes, I bought the Riviera stock and then replaced all of the parts myself!

simonfowler81 3 years ago

What do you epi-fans think: Riviera or Casino??
Crimsonn21 3 years ago
I've owned both, at the same time....and I kept the Riviera. The Casino sounds nice, but at stage volumes can be prone to feedback.
stilwel 3 years ago
Thanks mate. And an other thing: do you think that either one can be uesed for more ''aggresive'' playing and genres like hard rock or punk?
Crimsonn21 3 years ago
For that kind of stuff with more gain I would recommend a solid-body guitar. If you're going to be using distortion, then you want a solid-body (les paul, strat) or semi-hollow (Riv), definitely NOT a fully hollow guitar like the Casino.
