  • @stilwel Hey really nice playing. I'm looking at a riviera now, is yours one of the Korean/chinese types that are around £400-£500 or a vintage one? Do you have any idea how different the Nick Valensi one is with the p94 pickups in it?

Also which pickups did you put in it please? Keep up the good work!

  • @DarClaude This is a mid 90's Korean model....and I put Gibson P94 pickups in it just like the Nick Valensi model. I'm not a Valensi fan or anything, I just happen to like semi-hollow guitars with P90's.

  • if i had access to that rig, i could hibernate there ALL winter

  • I like this One!! Especially the TC D-Two Delay sounds even great in your version !!

  • Great sound stilwel, I have a DHP33 but Ican't make your great shimmer sound. Should you share the parameters?

    thanks

  • Yep, shimmer and whammy and for this rotary effect.

  • hey i really like this cover how do you like the riviera as i am considering getting one of them or a sheration?

  • Love it...one of my favorite guitars. It was a fine instrument completely stock, but I changed out the pickups and installed a bigsby trem and new tuners, now it's irreplaceable.

  • btw, the Riviera was still completely stock in this video.

  • @stilwel thanks for the reply i am happy to say i will be getting an epiphone riviera soon and thanks for your help and advice. i will almost certainly change the pickups (p94's) when i have some spare money and will consider other changes nearer the time. thanks again!

  • @stilwel I bought a epiphone riviera (korea), which PUs would you recommend to change? Thanks

  • Beautiful guitar. Rivieras FTW!

  • hey mate nice job just wondering what effect you add @ 109.

  • That's a rotary speaker type of effect courtesy of the DHP33.

  • I have a jmp-1 with that poweramp.. do you recommend me the pod? I want to have effects.. Ty

  • The Pod XT Pro is a good all-in-one solution for amps/fx and is available on the used market pretty cheap...so yeah, I'd recommend it.

  • What poweramp/cab are you using? Are you happy with the sound of the the pod? ty

  • This rig had a Marshall VS8008 power amp and 2 Vox speaker cabinets. The Pod XT Pro sounds great, and is the heart of that rig.

  • great cover, i'm looking for the chord sequence it sounds like you're playing in a different tuning. R u?

  • it's a 1/2 step down...

  • amazing cover!great sound...did u ever made a cover of one using the axe fx ultra?ciao cheers from italy!

  • great job, 5 stars

do you have tabs for this?

  • SHIIIT THEY NEED TO REISSUE THESE. THe nick valensi model is great but the color just doesnt cut it for me. haha

  • I agree completely. The NV had the features I wanted, but I hated the colors....so I made one myself :)

  • made one yourself? you mean you bought the parts separate?

  • Yes, I bought the Riviera stock and then replaced all of the parts myself!

  • dude your flippin amazing!

  • aww...i only clicked on this video cause i thought it was metallica one. but good playing though

  • Yeah, it would be kickass to play some metallica on the good ol' riviera ;)

  • Where do you get the backing tracks..?

Absolutely amazing demo, thank you :)

  • Hi,

I love your guitar set up. What speakers do you have in your Vox cabs?

    Cd tabman

  • man where can you get a riviera

  • on ebay or an other guitarshop

  • NIce "tone". Is there a reason to spend so much money on digital effects processors, when instead you could buy the real VOX AC30 ? Because I'm going in the same direction. All I got is digital except the MXR Eq and an ISP decimator. Thanks for sharing your videos.

  • It´s right, the Pod kills the tone. I´ve got a podXT in a DIY parallel loop in front of the amp to keep the tone of my AC15. The Edge also has a parallel mixing system... And he can add a second Vox, without any digital crap ;-)

  • just wondering if you think the delay from the M13 could replace the D-Two unitim considering buying the M13, but not sure if I should use my D-two with it, or just use its delay. Also, why did you get the M13 if you have Axe-FX? just wondering

  • love your playing. I cant believe how many people dont know the name of this song. Boggles my mind. My question for you is this. What is the little blue box infront of your FX1. Is it a booster of some kind? Whats it called? thanks again

  • Ya know...I have no idea what that blue thing is.

  • ohhh you are soo good. and a fantastic setup too!

  • Very nice tone and guitar!

  • very nice!! what chords do you use? Am D Fmaj G C?

  • what a waste. Why mix the digital with the AC30? the POD absolutly kills the tone of your guitar. do not use digital processors!

  • Your comment could possibly have some merit, if not for the fact that I don't own an AC30. Those are Vox speaker cabinets. The sound you are hearing is the AC30 sim in the Pod XT Pro.

  • absolutely beautiful man, that's just a tone you don't normally hear. gah 5 stars, you made my day.

  • I love your VOXs.....I have an ac 30 too...riviera is a fantastic guitar,,,,

  • Sorry...no AC30 here. It's all Pod Xt Pro into a couple of Vox speaker cabinets. That's the ultimate compliment!

  • You will have a bit of a problem buying one of these,Epiphone stopped making them years ago,you cant buy them anywhere.

  • this was amazing! was one the name of the song? or did you make it? anywhere i can find it in either standard or tabs? thanks!

  • It's the song "One" by U2.....surely you've heard it, it was a huge hit!!

  • Brilliant set up.

  • Again, i love your guitar and setup, but i wanted to know how are the 1990's riviera? I heard people changing the bridge and the electronics because they were problematic and cheaply done. I just wanted input from someone who owned one before i buy one

  • Great guitar, I love it. However, since this vid was recorded I have completely replaced ALL of the electronics. New pickups (Gibson P94's) and new pots, switch etc. There wasn't anything necessarily wrong with the old pickups, but I wanted a guitar with P90 tones.

  • Like Nick Valensi from Strikes...you made the same guitar....

  • yea i also thought it was a met song, but that was nice.

  • was hoping for metallica but hey, it's all good

  • omg your rig gave me a boner. along with your playing too!

  • By the way nice song and tones, some parts are very ColdPlay/U2 sounding to me.

  • Thats because its a U2 song :P. By the way nice played!

  • Are you using the pod xt simply for effects? Or are you using the amp models and stuff like that? Do you know if the pod xt pro can be used simply for effects? If so please tell. Thanx

  • Nice rig man!

  • use vox i think is better sond

  • What do you epi-fans think: Riviera or Casino??

  • I've owned both, at the same time....and I kept the Riviera. The Casino sounds nice, but at stage volumes can be prone to feedback.

  • Thanks mate. And an other thing: do you think that either one can be uesed for more ''aggresive'' playing and genres like hard rock or punk?

  • For that kind of stuff with more gain I would recommend a solid-body guitar. If you're going to be using distortion, then you want a solid-body (les paul, strat) or semi-hollow (Riv), definitely NOT a fully hollow guitar like the Casino.

  • Thanks dude, you've been great help ;)

-No need to say how well you play, its well understood! When I finaly get a guitar I'll let you know :P

  • what's the difference between an Epihone Dot ES335 and Epiphone Riviera?

is everything the same but the bridge?

    it's sounds cool!

  • the strings are with more tension in a tune-o-matic like dots?

  • bravo

  • haha i thought it was metallica too but its still great,

  • oops i thought this was metallica hehe

  • most goodness. which pickup were u using by the way?

  • Thanks for the information.

  • Very well played sir. Can you please tell me the name of the song and also the type of amp you are using.

    Thanks

  • I'm playing the song "One" by U2, and I'm not using an amp, I was using a Line 6 Pod XT Pro into a marshall power amp into a couple of Vox cabinets.

  • Did he take off his pick guard? Or does some models come like that?

  • Originally this guitar would have come with a white pickguard. I bought it used and the guard was already removed. Since I made this video, a year ago, I've put a gibson ES-335 style black pickguard on the guitar.

  • I see, well, thanks for the info. Also, I love the setup you have.

  • deep impression~

  • I love the song, great playing, ace, keep it up.

  • I envy that rack :)

  • Good and great tone. You gave me the need to play on my Epi, really. Thanx!

  • Hi, nice sound, I also own an epi rivera, sunburst, 1964 model, great guitars.

  • awesome dude !

  • Tout ca pour ca :(

  • I really really like this, honestly great job Im not even sure how this video came up but I'm impressed.

  • Wonderful cover..and wonderful gear!!ciao from italy

  • i found this cuz i was looking for one by metallica, lol, but anyways good playing=]

  • Do you play in a tribute band? Or a real band? Like where do you get the money to buy all of that, and like do you put it to use in a band or something? I'm not trying to sound rude, but like, I would want all of those effects and stuff, but not unless I NEEDED it.

  • Yes, I was in a U2 tribute band until I moved in '06. Here's my old band's website: zoostationaz (dot) com

...and I hope to be in one again someday.

  • make a account on Soundclick dot com and post your music there.. I would love to download this stuff!!

  • what song is this?

  • U2- One

  • oh wow that's a sweet sounding guitar !!! Do you know of the Epi Sheraton ??? How different is the Riviera from it? and what's the diff w/ minihumbuckers ???

  • Yes, I've owned several Epi Sheratons. The main diff between a Sheraton and MY Riviera is the tailpiece. The Sheraton has a stop-tail piece. My Riviera had a floating tailpiece. I've since removed that and installed a Bigsby vibrato though. My Riviera doesn't have mini-humbuckers it has full-size HB's.

  • great tone

  • what foot contoler are you using?

  • Axess Electronics FX1....by far the best controller made today.

  • Man, the girls must really love you for this.

  • They are only speaker cabinets....not real AC30's.

  • great tone, but why use pod when you have vox??

  • nice work

    do u use 2 tc d-two??

  • There's a D-two and a G-Major in that rig, but I don't believe I was using the G-major for anything in the clip.

  • Is that a standard Riviera? Sounds great.

  • Yes. It's a stock '90s Riviera. Since this vid was taken, I've added a Bigsby Vibrato to it.

  • i love the sound of this! absolutely love it! :)

  • I don't know too much spanish, but it looks like you're saying, "Is uncle having a lot of pasta?" And I say perhaps my friend.

  • great guitar!!!

  • great stilwel!!!!!!!!

  • Nice to see your video again...this time i record it ;o)
