@murph1973 Ryanair pay ServisAir to take care of the bags at certain airports. They pay other companies to handle them at other airports. If Ryanair get a complaint about a bag they aint gonna say "Oh, here you go customer, take OUR money even though we PAID ServisAir to handle your bag" They will say "Excuse me ServisAir you broke that guys bag...cough up or say goodbye to the massive contract we have with you".
sad to see this clip....so embrassing for Irish Airlines.....Ryanair you need to step up a bit ....no wonder we are not taken seriously when it comes to business ...;(
I heard that Ryanair proposed to make the passengers take their own check-in luggage to the aeroplane. What a disgrace. I'm pretty sure some kind of regulatory body would prevent such a policy from being implemented, God willing!
This is nothing to do with Ryanair. It's Servisair who employ that driver, so they are at fault.
People just see "Ryanair" and think the worst. They are the best airline in Europe, they can get me to the other side of the Continent for £30 return. Long Live This airline!
@donald4126 to say it has "nothing to do with Ryanair" may be overstretching it. Ryanair owes the passengers and their luggage a duty of care. They further have an (at least) implied contractual duty to fulfil their end of the contract with due care. These duties and obligations should extend to any sub-contractor and/or agent. There are also EU and/or treaty rules on the subject.
@tmacmanus If this was your bag and you complained to Ryanair about this they would do nothing but refer you to the handling agent desk as no one from Ryanair has touched this bag. A bigger airline like BA or KLM for example would have their own ground crew and would be at fault. This is not the case here. Ryanair may indeed investigate the treatment with the handlers but they are no way at fault and would be extremely unlikely to give you any compensation.
@tmacmanus No, you are over stretching it . After this episode, that very same driver is going to assist a flight of Easy Jet or British airways or whatever and he might even be assisting these competitive airlines at the same time. That driver is NOT an employ of Ryannair. These duties of care that you mention are not extended to the subcontractor; they are fully handled to them while the plane is on the ground. The responsibility for this incident is entirely Servisair.
@2129261184 Best on time airline in Europe, lowest fares, youngest fleet, largest route network and fewest lost bags. Beats any other airline on the continent as far as the facts are concerned. ;)
@karaloca Please keep thinking that and please don't ever use Ryanair. It keeps the fares super low for those of us who appreciate and enjoy travelling. The less popular a flight is, the longer they keep the €10 tickets available, so please avoid them at all costs. They are the best airline in Europe, hands down, they'll be around long after the main airlines go bankrupt, that's for certain.
@donald4126 You need to do a bit more research into them, they treat their ops staff (pilots etc) like cattle and the blokes who are taking flying jobs with them undercut the rest of us. Pay cheap and you will get cheap - that includes the idiots (mostly in the RH seat) up the front.
@gnarkillkicksass I am one of the 'idoits' you refer to up front.I get paid just over €6000 per month into my hand, and I am only 22 years old.I dont think thats paying cheap as you referred.Ive been lucky enough to secure a job with one of the most successfully profitable (and Irish) Airlines know - thats a fact. And also its one of the biggest carriers in the world. @eirejk1 If your really a pilot like any of us you wouldn't care about your airlines ranking. My first RPT job was with KA, type rating paid for after I had 1500TT with about 300 on multi turbine and they were employing cadets and "pay for fly" pilots. At the airline and at the bar they were treated 2nd class. You undercut your own industry your nothing in my books. I was 24 when I joined then and moved to a related mob (777 S/O seat - guess who!). Do the hard yards. PX2 hours beats paying...
@donald4126 Erm, and do you think Ryanair are going to pay Servisair for a service they can make a killing at providing? You obviously dont understand the extreme efficiency and streamlined fashion in which Ryanair operates. They do it themselves to cut corners. Before Ryanair all air companies paid the airport to use the airport facility. Ryanair tried to get the airport to pay them on the basis that they were bringing them custom. So you think theyre gonna use Servisair? Cheapskate AND dumb gz
yes, but ryanair has NO other redeeming features other than 30 pound tickets: the staff isn't helpful, the planes aren't comfortable, there are no seat pockets, you are nickel-and-dimed for everything, there is no customer sevice, the seats don't recline, and the only reason why the planes have window shades and free toilets is because boeing refuses to build them without them. Remember, this is an airline that wanted to have standing room only and pay toilets on flights!
@turbo1431 You don't HAVE to fly with them though. You're paying to get from A to B and that's it. They're probably great for people who can't afford normal priced fares. In Australia we have Tiger Airlines, they're apparently crap too but very cheap.
no, I have no trouble with Low Cost Carriers (LCCs). they serve a very important service and some, like Southwest airlines and Tiger Airways Australia, serve a useful and necesary service to the public. I just have a hatred of ryanair because that ryanair seems to treat it's passenger like nothing more than fare-paying cargo and decide that because airports and competing airlines serve said cargo with dignity and respect, that they should be treated like crap. I hate ryanair.
Ryan Air suck! I took my bike on a flight and had to pay extra which was fine - what I couldnt believe was that the bike came off the plane with two buckled wheels and a snapped frame. £1000 bike, irripairable and no chance of getting a penny back off Ryan Shite Air. I'd like to get one of their planes and fly it right up Michail O'learies arse.
The last time I flew RyanAir it cost me over £1000!! £68 for the flight to France, £30 extra to carry a bike and £1200 for repairs to the bike when it came off the plane (broken bottom bracket and two buckled wheels). No reply from RyanAir nothing. Id like to get one of their planes and fly it right up Michael OLearys arse.
I used to worked @ SFO international for bout 5 years. It was the most fun job i ever had, towing planes in & out, leading 747, MD11 cargo flights, eva, china, lufthansa... it was incredible, completely mind boggling all the weight these planes carry around the world. Downfall: Low pay, high risk and dangerous (i loved that part) no union (1996), and worst of all most people @ international are meth users, at least in SFO.
I like it when Ryanair use screwdrivers too pop the handles off really heavy cases because the baggage handlers have issues or something. It makes moving an 86 kilo equipment case really easy ;)
Shit, if a handler ever got a screwdriver anywhere near my equipment cases for whatever reason, Michael O'Leary would wind up with one within the vicinity of his jewels.

This retard works for the Airport authority and not ryanair, more then likely a goverment run airport where he got the job through his cousin and ive got to pay 60-70 extra on my 20 euro ryanair flight. to keep this prat in a job
Unfortunately for all you complainers Ryanair are one of the most successful airlines in Europe right now... and one of the safest.... ryanair dont train pilots to their cheap standards, all airline pilots in europe do the same JAA ATPL course... If you're after first class service why fly with Ryanair in the first place? O'Leary has been at Ryanair for 15-20 years, he enjoys a practical joke, dont need to get all arsey just because your gullible. All your rans about Ryanair are flawed. Sorry :)
Reported in The Independent today - Ryanair plan to get their customers to load their luggage. If we could actually fly the plane, serve ourselves overpriced drinks and sandwiches maybe Scum Air could just cease to exist altogether? We could just pay all our money direct into Michael O'Leary's bank account and he could spend it all on more scat movies or animal torture instruments or whatever he spends his money on, without having to worry about customers at all.
Or maybe its an excellent money saving idea which has worked for a few airlines in the past... I'm sure if you're too much of a lazy bastard to do it yourself, you could always buy a plane ticket for another airline which costs 20x more than any from Ryanair.
Now they just said that they are studying a case that they will make the passenger Load their luggage into the Airplane Cargo to lower the cost of the baggage handlers and also you should pay 1 UK Pound to use the Toilet Aboard.
I wonder if they applied this will they really fly them?
After all, I'm paying money for Flying and Service
hey thanks for throwin in that last put down at the end like an asshole
im not talking about some little po-dunk saab airline. whos gonna let 140 passengers go down onto the tarmac to load a 737. safety issues, security issues, time issues. it would be a fuckin joke
a good message to send out to people & employes is don't rush you're employes, treat them nicely and don't impose silly rules like allowing them to only drink fluids on stupid short breaks. The bottom line is try and be respectful to peoples baggage
Well it is a annoying when you get to your destination & you pick up your luggage soaked wet, because the stuff left it in the puddle in other airport. Or you pick up your luggage open & some things are missing. But the most anoint thing is that they lose your luggage or brake it. The person who say that this is ok & no one will take cere with the luggage probably had only few travels & got his luggage in good conditions. Travel a little more & you will see how it is pissing off these things!
Alas...you can be driving a tug w/ cart, have the curtains securely fastened, be going the speed limit, and STILL have bags fall off depsite your best efforts. And the annoying thing is that there are no side mirrors or anything, so you can never tell it's happened unless you turn the tug halfway around and look behind you. Unfortunately it happens, sometimes.
Worse even: I once saw a woman checking in like 15 shepherd dogs. The mongrels got so pissed off at my own dog that those in the top cages fell off the carrier in their cages. My own dog was prettier though, so he was handled with care :D And one El Al security dude dropped (and killed) my camera. Never got a refund from them assholes.
its usual for every airport service. i work in a airport loading team. baggage everyday fell of the carts.but the driver notice that everytime, they are looking backwards.
but i can tell you..you`ll begin to hate baggage after loading such a lot of aircrafts.
I worked as a baggage handler here in Colorado for United Airlines, it was actually one of the funnest jobs i've had. Bags fell off the carts pretty frequently, it's why you don't travel with $3,000 baggage. We were instructed to retrieve and pack the bags when they fell off, but occasionally the driver wouldn't notice. Baggage handling actually isn't that bad of a blue collar job. It's fun and interesting, especially if you love aircraft.
They do break alot of luggage. They are under alot of pressure to get the bags off and onto the final destination. I broke hundreds of bags just by pulling on them not intentionally.
dont go with a cheap airline then! fuck me, if you want someone to kiss your ass and caress your luggage, go pay the full fare! you want to leave on time yet expect us to take 10 mins placing luggage in the cargo hold, time is money, dont pack so much pointless shit in your bags, and food and wine is stupid, not only does it stink, it makes our already hard working conditions worse! carry fradgile goods with you! sheesh
Ryanair is a crap company? but still have come from nowhere to become one of the biggest and most powerful airlines in the world, whatever, i guess you have to find something to complain about...
I am a baggage handler and it shouldn't happen but sometimes it does, when we're very busy. But we don't do it on purpose.
And THE MAIN THING - Ryanair has NO (repeat NO) baggage handlers anywhere. It's a ground handling company in that particular airport, which provides baggage handlers for all the companies like Ryanair. So stop accusing Ryanair!
Unless this guy could see through solid objects he would not know the bag was there. Besides he stopped quickly and restacked the bags. I dont see anyone doing anything deliberate here as hinted at by the poster of this clip
ok mate no problem thank you for your opinion .and if you ever come to ireland i would seriously avoid getting on a ryanair they are the worst airline ever trust me they dont care about there passengers at all stick with the shamrock (aerlingus) mate safe flying
I bet someone refused to pay baggage at counter so Ryan Air did this on purpose.

Aer Lingus takes better care of your luggage by putting it into metal boxes and those boxes are loaded onto the plane.

a good message to send out to people & employes is don't rush you're employes, treat them nicely and don't impose silly rules like allowing them to only drink fluids on stupid short breaks. The bottom line is try and be respectful to peoples baggage
1982mf 2 years ago

And to think the owner of that bag paid £15 for the privilege of having that done to it.

So the bag fell off the back? As soon as he realised the guy stopped and picked everything up. There was no intent here
Anglosexon 3 years ago
They do break alot of luggage. They are under alot of pressure to get the bags off and onto the final destination. I broke hundreds of bags just by pulling on them not intentionally.

this shows the care baggage handlers have for everyones things how nice they are

ansettaddict123 3 years ago 3
Its the worst and lowest job at an airline. The pay is lower than low so theyll take just about anyone to do it.
freefalln329 3 years ago
yeah:P
ansettaddict123 3 years ago
It varies between airlines. I get fair pay as an Air New Zealand baggage handler.

The baggage handling is not up to Ryanair but to airport ground handling.
sartozzi78 3 years ago
Yea try getting compensation off FR for that damaged bag. Like getting water out of a stone. Thats why you're not not an IATA member.
Gerone1 3 years ago
Like MitoDL said, don't come to Ryanair expecting the best, ya cheap fuck. Go with British Airways if you want to pay for amazing service.
elbamble 3 years ago
dont go with a cheap airline then! fuck me, if you want someone to kiss your ass and caress your luggage, go pay the full fare! you want to leave on time yet expect us to take 10 mins placing luggage in the cargo hold, time is money, dont pack so much pointless shit in your bags, and food and wine is stupid, not only does it stink, it makes our already hard working conditions worse! carry fradgile goods with you! sheesh
MitoDL 3 years ago
haha u think thats bad???? you should see what goes on inside the holds in the aircraft =)

Ryanair is a crap company? but still have come from nowhere to become one of the biggest and most powerful airlines in the world, whatever, i guess you have to find something to complain about...
Rubachan 4 years ago
thats why so cheap pay peanuts you get monkeys
grahamer06 4 years ago
they dont give 2 fucks about luggage do they. you can see as they just left a bag being dragged by the poxy end of the thing.
omgitsjoshy2 4 years ago
I am a baggage handler and it shouldn't happen but sometimes it does, when we're very busy. But we don't do it on purpose.
And THE MAIN THING - Ryanair has NO (repeat NO) baggage handlers anywhere. It's a ground handling company in that particular airport, which provides baggage handlers for all the companies like Ryanair. So stop accusing Ryanair!
But it's still a crap company :-)))

LOL...bad stack job...this falls into the shit happens category.
morampkc 4 years ago 3
Unless this guy could see through solid objects he would not know the bag was there. Besides he stopped quickly and restacked the bags. I dont see anyone doing anything deliberate here as hinted at by the poster of this clip
Anglosexon 4 years ago
that how bags get lose.
matt33311 4 years ago
If they used containers this problem wouldn't happen. I see bags fall like this all the time from FR truck.
