  • they had DVR back then loll jkjk

  • he should of been executed for being a war criminal

  • ...and he's a Mormon.

  • He was a unique president but not a very effective one...and not a classy man because he engaged in bitter politcial name-calling.

  • He should've died by a nuclear bomb

  • Lester B. Pearson former Canada Prime minister died 2 days later. Truman and Pearson made the UN what it is today.

  • @vitoduval died 1 later.

  • we need more unbiased media.

  • The timing of Truman's death saved my brother in law a trip to Vietnam. He was to report for processing at the end of 1972. Federal offices were closed and he did not have to report. About 300 men escaped Vietnam (legally) due to Truman's death.

  • I don't think anyone in history had to make so many tough decisions in such a history. the whole post-War world order was his doing and say what you will it was a period of unprecedented peace and prosperity.

  • I toured the Truman Home, there were some japanese people on the tour w/ me, it was enlightening to see the looks on their faces. He is like vlad the impaler to them, their eyes were unslanted like saucers. When I think about it, yes he was about the most evil person. He didn't have to drop two bombs on innocent men women and children, one would have made the point. He killed more people in the least time of anyone ever. I can't understand how the USA population likes this genocidal...

  • @AJollyGoodFelon

"He is like vlad the impaler to them, their eyes were unslanted like saucers"

Wow... for all your criticism of Truman...you reveal yourself a bit of a racist.

and fyi- I have questioned the use of the bomb many times and view it as a "fucked either way" option. You however really have some racial problems to work out.

  • @hipstermi Is that all you got? Everyone reading knows I am no racist, you just have no repsonse so you call me a racist. I have clearly whooped the response from you with the fucking truth. There was a sweet sweet little japanese girl in hiroshima, the sweetest little thing you would ever meet. She knew nothing of war and had nothing to do with it. One day all she wanted to do was play with her dollhouse. But that day some FUCKING MONSTER came along and bombed the skin off of her skul

  • @AJollyGoodFelon

"Is that all you got? Everyone reading knows I am no racist"

Doubtful. You referred to Asian people with "eyes were unslanted like saucers" very racist to dwell on physical characteristics like this.

"I have clearly whooped the response from you with the fucking truth"

Not "clearly." I didnt debate if Truman was right or wrong to use the bomb.Nice try at emotionalism

    "sweet little japanese girl"

The "unslanted eyes like saucers" people you refer to?

    racist.

  • @hipstermi You cunt I have told you that there is not a fucking thing racist about slanted eyes. What are you some kind of fucking jew? The kings of racists? Now I almost wouldnt' mind being called an anti-semite, I am used to it. But if you had half a fucking brain cell, you would see I am aligned on the jap side of this. So go hop into an oven you fuciking kike.

  • @AJollyGoodFelon

It's funny to see your angry cussing. I bet you think it makes you sound "tough". Not really...you just sound like a douche!

    "slanted eyes...jap...fucking jew"

    yes you are a bigot.

"So go hop into an oven you fuciking kike. "

    Ohhh...Nazi reference.

You should really get some help about your bigotry and racism plus your anger issues.

You really should be ashamed of yourself.

  • @hipstermi the fact remains that Truman was a piece of shit. What he did makes drive by shooters look like saints. He knew thousands of innocent people would get violently and horribly killed and he went on through his life skipping around Independence praised as some kind of hero. Shows how the USA population have been as stupid as they are now for a long time. That is my point. I came here to make. Now slanted eyes are just a fact like negros have darker skin so fricking what.

  • @AJollyGoodFelon

"the fact remains that Truman was a piece of shit. What he did makes drive by shooters look like saints"

I know you are trying to make emotional posts to start a debate, but that's not what I was replying to. It's your racism and bigotry that's disgusting here and Truman is dead.

Dude...you cheered on the NAZIS for what they did to the Jews. That's dogshit on shoe low.

I dare you to talk like that in public or at work (if you have a job)

  • @hipstermi "you really should be ashamed" Ok well I'm not. Nope. so how you figure? I have addressed you, you really should take the word hip out of your name, because that is something you are not. You are the douche I am the touche. And it's really not me who needed to be aware of what caused pearl harbor, It is on Harry T to know that. It's his responsibility. Now you gonna just repeat calling me a racist because you are simply a troll and you know it.

  • @AJollyGoodFelon

"Ok well I'm not. Nope. so how you figure?"

I'll try to dumb it down for you:

    1. I called you out for your Japanese racism

    2. you got mad and claimed not to be a racist

    3. then you went on a rant about me being a "Jew" and your various issues with "Jews" including Nazi references

    4. not a racist, but you showed bigotry to Jews

(not to mention: I'M NOT JEWISH so you flat out lied about me)

Being a bigot and cheering on the Nazis= you being ashamed

  • @AJollyGoodFelon

"He is like vlad the impaler to them, their eyes were unslanted like saucers"

Despite your racist comments about "unslanted" eyes...I suspect your story is fabricated. I have talked to a number of Japanese, including exchange students. They tend to blame Tojo for the bombing.

AGAIN- I don't know if he did the right thing, so don't try your emotional angry posts on me. But I have never seen any Japanese refer to him as "Vlad the Impaler" You seem to want emotional posts.

  • Fuck Japan and Nazi Germany.

    They were asking for it.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Truman! <3

  • Truman did not take any crap from people.

    He was tough.

America should thank God for Harry Truman.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • wow! "good riddance" to a great man as mr. truman? what a shameful way to address the memory of a fine man as hew was. no man since had equaled his integrity and respectfullness.

  • Good riddance.

  • wow. how many presidential deaths has walter cronkite announced? he musta hated his job

  • Yes, and I am glad that he was able to get that advance. A truly wonderful, remarkable man and I wish that he were our President now.

  • President Truman did not die nearly broke. In fact, he was quite comfortable, having sold 254acres of his mother's property in Grandview. In his retirement, he lived many happy years, running his library and travelling with Bess. You can find all this information about this wonderful man in David McCullough's masterpiece,Truman.

  • @ekagan66 he also sold rights to his book to life for a $600,000 dvance

  • Harry S. Truman was a war criminal together with Eisenhower. They caused death of over 1 german war prisoner after Germany surrendered. Then Harry S. Truman ordered drop 2 nuclear bombs to Japan, just for fun. Japan was willing to surrender before those nuclear bomb attacks. Their only term was that their deity emperor will stay untouched. The USA dropped those bombs because Truman wanted show the USA´s military power to Stalin. Harry S. Truman and Eisenhower were not any better than Hitler.

  • @GBOY69GAY fuck off

  • @GBOY69GAY You really like making stuff up don't you? The Japanese were not about to surrender. We dropped one bomb on them and they STILL DIDN'T surrender. Even after the second bomb was dropped it took intervention from the emperor to finally end the war. I also notice you kindly forgot all of the wonderful war crimes committed by the Japanese and the Nazi's.

  • @GBOY69GAY where in the hell did you get all your facts? I love it when people who have half a brain start acting like they are smart, hold off dummy you facts are more than a little off. The Japanese had made statements that they wanted american to storm the island so that they could make a suicidal stand many of trumans advisors had told him as many as a million us troops could die if they didn't drop the bomb. A war criminal? are you serious? we was not into ethnic cleansing, we didnt start

  • @GBOY69GAY Read the cables btwn JForMin Togo& JambUSSR Sato in 7/45.Sato advised surrender w/1 condition; Togo rejected that advice. 8/2/45 after Sato asked for Jpeace terms; Togo refused to state them.

PS when MacArthur got toJapanhe found it on the brinkof famine. He cabled DC "Send me food or send me bullets" Millions of tons of US grain averted mass starvation. Did Hitler ever treat a defeated foe like that?Ithink NOT!

  • Everyone has ideals firm and strong to explain an act of beard laughs. But if it was to end the war by killing people living outside the military .. So why not begin at home? .. Everything is valid provided it is not we die .. Nonsense, pure and simple lack of awareness .. We do not kill the children of killers .. One mistake does not justify other errors ..

  • the bomb shortened the war and saved a lot of lives. more people would have died if that war had lasted another six weeks than were killed by the bombs. In 1945-50 he probably had to make more hard calls than any person in history and he did a great job. particularly his containment policy which he predicted would last until the Soviet Union collapsed from within.

  • Que hijo de puta, que arda en el infierno

  • a great man , a strait shooter , great clip

  • dont like the vid, just that he died

  • i think you should quit bitching about my cousin.

  • Truman and Roosevelt were about the same age (born two years apart). However Truman lived 25 years longer than Roosevelt (who died at only 63), all the way to 88.

  • i hope all the naysayers did their homework. Before damning Truman you should check the facts. Both japan and germany were working on the bomb themselves...a submarine containing uranium was intercepted on the way to japan...sent to them by the germans...the only reason it didnt get there was because germany surrendered during the trip,These assholes were fanatics...much like al quada is now.Germany and japan would have happily blown us off the map...we didnt start this war...but we finished it

  • Harry S Truman was a good , hard working, common American . He was a honorable man. Who spoke his mind. We should have more like this man in political seats. We are a better country because of him. Period!

  • One of our best presidents!

He was maligned much like Bush when he left office, but went on to be highly regarded and respected among historians. Truman had some of the most difficult decisions that any president ever had to make.

  • i always get a kick out of people who say we should not have used the bomb on japan.....i wonder if you would have been eager to participate in the invasion of Japan....i think not.....japan and Germany got better than they deserved...they plunged us into a war that claimed millions of lives.....in the end they had to pay....you should never pick a fight you cant win

  • @allanro28 Absolutly correct. Harsh decisions like this have to be made. This is why we need MEN like Harry S Truman in office. Thousands of American men would have died if this bomb had not been dropped. It was exactly what we needed to do.

Harry Truman had to make the call, and take the blame. We are a better country because of Harry Truman. He was a great man. period.

  • My hero! Thank you for your positive influence on my life, Harry!

  • Rest in peace, Harry S Truman.

  • The problems we have today can be attributed to Woodrow Wilson, when he enacted the Federal Reserve Act he broke constitutional law, giving a PRIVATE centralized bank to manage our money! (they caused the Depression!)

That power is reserved for Congress, according to our Constitution "Congress has the power to coin money"!

We must also thank the Presidents after Wilson that have been puppets to the BIG BANKS & have done NOTHING! JFK was the only exception & look what ended up happening to him

  • @qcksllver Why don't we bomb the people who are perpetuating us into globalization the Zionists? & this Zionist Truman & his support of the illegal state of Israel, that land belongs to the Palestinians & everyday they are being discriminated upon each day!

This president along with the others after Woodrow Wilson are vile puppets to the Federal Reserve, & this man is another vile & vermon puppet who used Nuclear weapons to kill innocent Japanese who we're begging for a surrender!

  • @North2016 And you are a fool who obviously has no knowledge of history!!! The innocent Japanese killed many innocent souls in Hawaii, and like Hitler, were still believing they could win!! . Bleeding heart liberal! People like you have gotten this country so screwed up that we can't do anything without a law, we can't say anything without a law, and soon, we won't be able to think without one as well. I mourn the death of one thing in this country............COMMON SENSE!

  • @cmlbob LOL The Japanese were begging for surrender... begging and not only did he nuke once & killed thousands of innocent civilians, he did it once again!

People like me? You should blame our own govt... That has kept us in slavery for almost 100 years, Wilson might not have killed innocent civilians but he did in fact sell out on the American people & sided with the BIG BANKS!

Federal Reserve, IRS, & all the other unconstitutional forms of legislation he signed that eroded our liberties!!

  • Comment removed

  • The Japanese we're begging for a surrender, & they nuked them TWICE! Mr. Truman, you & Woodrow Wilson will go down in history as the WORST presidents of our time!

Killing thousands of innocent civilians, you COWARD!

  • Was and always will be my favorite U.S. president.

  • Hiroshima and Nagasaki were sheer murder committed by the Allies. Terror attack on civilians and essentially no different than German atrocities.

  • Interesting, that Nixon was president at the time of death of three , former presidents, Eisenhower, Truman and Johnson.

  • A real president, that was constantly attacked by self-interest groups.

    A real hero.

  • Rest In Peace Walter, Ike and Harry.

  • I remember the pictures of "citizen" Truman, just driving home to Independence, all done being president, just going home.

  • I hope this son of a bitch burn in hell all eternity

  • @paygi110709 me too

  • It's a shame that Truman died nearly broke.

  • @hulkyone Truman was actually offered speaking fees of the kind now given to former presidents, but he turned it down, regarding it as beneath the dignity of his former office.

  • @hulkyone Didn't he get a pension?

  • @Soulblackman No, he didn't. The Presidential pension was established in 1958 as part of the Former Presidents Act.

  • @hulkyone Thanks for the info.

  • @hulkyone Truman wasn't "nearly broke" but he did live modestly. He WAS nearly broke in the 1950's. But his memoirs helped pay off his debts and he made a few bucks from a syndicated TV series where he discussed his Presidency. A bill was introduced in 1958 granting a pension to ex-Presidents. The only ones still alive at the time were Hoover and Truman. Although Hoover was a millionaire he supported the bill in order for Truman to get a pension. They were personal friends.

  • @observer9670 Wrong, he did die broke. He had declined the pension offered by the Former Presidents Act.

  • @hulkyone Not true. His grandson said that Truman was grateful to Herbert Hoover for supporting the pension act, even though he (Hoover) didn't need it. It was Hoover who turned down the pension.

  • @observer9670 That doesn't disregard what I typed at all. He did turn it down and he didn't care too much for money either. You should read about all the offers of value he turned down. He was almost completely broke after he left office and lived off of his World War I military pension. He didn't even use much secret service

  • @hulkyone I find that very doubtful. I have seen nothing to indicate that he turned his pension down. And former Presidents only get minimal Secret Service protection. The only former President to waive protection was Nixon.

  • @observer9670 Do research

  • @madfeelings yes

  • Given that former President Truman died on December 28th, I suspect that Walter Cronkite was on vacation but was summoned back to host the "Evening News" and coverage of the funeral.

  • The Truman's death is different to killing of John Kennedy in 1963 and Robert Kennedy in 1968.

  • Truman and Nixon were the last two 20th century presidents not to have state funerals. Say was there this kind of coverage when president Herbert Hoover died? I tried looking for it on YouTube and couldn't find any at all.

  • Thank you Harry Truman for supporting the state of Israel. After what Jews went through in the Holocaust, many countries were still cold and careless to the refugees and refused to let them in anywhere. Truman risked his presidential career by backing up the notion of a Jewish state but he kept his word to the end and didn't let his friend Eddie Jacobson down.

  • @Rosefire I remember Pope John II did the same thing when the Vatican recognized Irael too at the urging of a friend.

  • 33rd president and 33rd degree mason. And he caused an American 9/11 in Japan... coincidence...NO.

  • rest in peace

  • Is that Walter Cronkite at the beginning?

  • he was more intense killer than hitler...

  • @hafeez587 Except he had no desire to use the bomb.........he realized it was necessary as anybody knows now. You can't reason with an entire public , civil & military of Japanese who were willing to die for their Emperor. There were no innocent victims

  • @LitterboxDiorama hey u smart arse.......if u support it with that argument then why are u crying now when terrorists attack as you ppl are also dying to support your govt to attack afganistan, iraq and now Iran...

the only reason they attacked it with bomb because america is no doubt a warphobic nation and they love to bomb..as they invented it so they wanted to use it to supress the world..and as war was ending and they hd spent lot of money on Manhattan Project so it was time to get some...

  • @hafeez587

Comparing Truman to Hitler? You insane? You must be because they couldn't be more different. Hitler sought vengeance for Germany because of their treatment after WWI. Hitler wanted to conquer Europe and murder every Jew. So I guess I don't understand how you claim that "he was a more intense killer than hitler" .... If you are referring to his decision to use nuclear weapons... than you're a fool if you don't realize that it was necessary. And remember... Japan attacked us first!

  • @hafeez587, you're an asshole

  • @Eric8542010 ok..bt u r just shit on face of ths earth..as Truman was..

  • @hafeez587 you cockboy

That's the spirit!! Insult the man that risked his life in war to protect sorry assholes like yourself! SO American and Patriotic of you!

    Jackass.

  • When you go to war, you go to protect all Americans, even the assholes.

  • Yeah unfortunately I know that.

  • @dontworryaboutit2110

Spot on the truth is that truman is rightly regarded as one of the finest presidents of the 20th century a brave and decent man who had no choice but to drop the bomb, otherwise a lot more human life would have been lost, maybe could have been one of that guys relatives.

  • Truman's agonizing A-bomb decision was the correct one. He, however, did not agonize over it as he knew it was the correct - if horrific - decision to make. It saved the lives of both U.S. and Japanese military and civilian populace. I've been to the Truman library and couldn't have enjoyed it more. I strongly encourage it to anybody with an interest in history... although it isn't in the nicest and best location. Be sure to visit his nearby home.

  • @notredamehesamighty

The nuclear bombs were regrettable and so is the prospect of a drawn out invasion but I think both can be correct.

"No man ever won a war by dying for his country. Wars were won by making the other poor bastard die for his"- Patton.

Favourite President along with FDR, Lincoln and Reagan.

  • @DeathlyReaper217 With the exception of Reagan I guess you like the presidents who kill the most people and seize the most power for the executive branch.

  • @LSDNY

Liberty and rights are usually lost in wartime.

At the end of the day, one more person dead means one less headache and resistance. Civilians become acceptable targets as well sometimes to reduce enemy resistance. So attacks on civilian fronts as part of total war (Sherman's March to sea), carpet bombings, strategic bombings, blockade is acceptable too.

And if you ask, how I would like to be at the receiving end. Let us hope that there isn't another war and thank fuck for smart bombs,

  • @DeathlyReaper217 There are several wars going on right now in Afghanistan, Iraq, & Pakistan. And despite smart bombs and predator drones, civilians are regularly killed. I don't think we're any safer because Obama is bombing Pakistan & I don't think civilians are acceptable targets there anymore than they were here on 911.

  • @LSDNY

It's unfortunate that it's happening now since we're fighting a unconventional war where in that context misfortunes lead to reprisals.

In a conventional war, I think it's something that works as even if there are a thousand deaths at least the industrial capacity is destroyed. Besides a couple of possible replacement soldiers are dead as well.

  • Wow, really sad to see someone, who had such vigor for life, and really wanted to make things for better, one that lived through the transformation of the rural, agriculture to industrial powerhouse.

  • I have a typed letter response signed by Harry Truman. My great grandmother sent him a letter and he returned back to her. Can't believe I still have the letter. Its signed by Truman too.

  • We are leaders of the world thanks to men like President Truman and we will continue to be so, bless him.

  • Truman was a man who had to decide. Either way he would have had to make a choice that would have killed 100's of thousands more people. Either he not drop the bomb and waste more AMERICAN lives because the Japanese would not surrender. Or stop a war but also kill many. What would you do?

  • Several people see Truman as a man who killed a ton of innocents, but do not point at others who have done the exact same thing...

    Attila the Hun

    General William Sherman

    Nero

    Should I keep going?

  • war criminal and hitlers right hand

  • give 'em hell Harry

  • Harry Truman the military criminal. To burn it in a hell.

  • everyone please think positive all presidents were great men who do and did there best and what was best for the country

  • Now why would you say that poor old Truman was a serial killer? If you're referring to Nagasaki and Hiroshima, he was only carrying out what had been planned by the late President Roosevelt, to bring an end to the war.

  • @jensmom604 I agree. What about what the Japanese did in Nanking raping little girls with bayonets? What about what the horrors of the Bataan death march? Pearl Harbor? Cry me a river, revisionists.

  • @ebonics4everyone

Don't forget about Japan almsot wiping out Korea and it's entire culture

  • @ebonics4everyone you speak the TRUTH my friend!!! charge forward with the sword of truth!!!

  • @ebonics4everyone funny that a truman supporter would be asking for tears, or i should say not surprising. Pearl harbor was provoked with foreknowledge of what would happen. There are memos to truman telling him that the build up of forces at Hawaii would scare Japan into attacking. We see what he did to Two huge cities in Japan, he could have planned everything including pearl harbor. And that is not revisionist anyways that is history / declassified info. You sheep are without integrity

  • @AJollyGoodFelon

"funny that a truman supporter would be asking for tears, or i should say not surprising. Pearl harbor was provoked with foreknowledge of what would happen. There are memos to truman telling him that the build up of forces at Hawaii would scare Japan into attacking. ???

You seem unaware that Truman was not Prez or VP when Pearl Harbor happened.

  • @AJollyGoodFelon FDR, the greatest liberal president ever in terms of accomplishments, was president on Dec 7, 1941. Read up on the facts, before you comment. It makes you sound less uninformed.

  • @jensmom604 los fines no justifiacan los medios

  • @jensmom604 hear! hear! (hoor! hoor! in afrikaans) i HEARTILY agree with you! besides, what happened to the jap civilians in both the atomic bombings as well as in the incindiary bombings was PAYBACK for what the damn japs did to american, BRITISH, austrailian, and other allied pows as well as the native asian populations that they MISTREATED AND TORTURED TO DEATH!!!!!

  • @MsKeith1969

Truman, domesticly, was a horrible President, but he is #1 to me for winning WW2.

  • @HalfBornUnicornFetus hear! hear! (hoor! hoor! in afrikaans)

  • oh no!!! hes dead!!!!

  • kill yourself. please.

  • Truman was a good president faced with many hard choices, invade japan and suffer millions of casulities. Plus half of those Japanese civilians all wanted us dead too. you wanna know who sleeps with the devil... JFK

  • Weren't the atomic bombings FDR ideas before he passed? And didn't Harry carry out FDR's initial plans? Just asking.

  • Comment removed

  • If Japan hadn't bombed us first, we would have left them alone! They started it.

  • War Criminal.

  • I hope he burn in hell.

  • He did what had to be done. Thousandsof our troops were tortured and killed and marched to death. Dropping the bombs spared further thousands being subjected to the same fate and brought a quick end to the war. It was war. One of the terrible things about war is innocents get killed. Has been that wat throughout history.

  • God bless Harry S. Truman

  • how exactly would god bless somebody who killed 200,000 PEOPLE WITH 2 ATOMIC BOMBS????????

  • Why? Because the WAR would have gone on further and further. The reason it took as long as it did was because the Japanese bombed the crap out of Pearl Harbor, caught the soldiers off guard and destroyed MOST of the ships and planes!! All that HAD to be replaced and rebuilt. Yes, Truman helped stop the 2nd W.W.!!!

  • @aminion1993 So when he gave Japan 2 chances to surrender, President Truman didn't wait long enough? I guess Japan gave us a warning before Pearl Habor...lol. Please spare me your tears for Japan.

  • @aminion1993 So you rather for Japan had killed many of our troops instead of taking Truman peaceful word to end WWII? Democrats back then stood for our National Security and was much hard nose than to dem party. I'm a Jack Kennedy /Truman Democrat, thats the reason why dems are look at as weak on foriegn affairs. I just returned from Iraq and I was honored to serve under Bush and Partly under Obama. Was there mistakes? Yes! Was it worth it? Yes!

  • Allah is a pig.

Mohammad is a pig dog. Or schwiendhund.

  • Do you think that you provoke me ?

you stupid ,, you know Allah is the god ?

or maybe you are Agnostic LOL

  • and I sleep with your mother and sisters, douchebag

  • Canadian PrimeMinister Lester B. Pearson died at this time

  • Who?

  • Lester B. Pearson died at the same time. He won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1956 for the handling of the Suez Canal incident.

The Airport in Toronto, Canada was named in his honour.

  • A great President---vited only once for a Democratic President but, if they brought the likes of Harry back, I'd consider it an honor to vote for a principled person like this.

The jackass left wing of the current Demcoratic party loathes him--which makes most others realize how great a President he really was...

  • Thats very true, there used to be very little differences between the two parties, now the Democrats have increased to a degree of Liberalness that makes Harry Truman and John Kennedy look politically more like Republicans. I am a Republican, but love Harry Truman, he was a great president, and made a decision that saved the lives of hundreds of thousands of G.I.s and ended World War II. Even though I am a Republican, I would no doubt cast a vote for Harry Truman.

  • Let's see...Harry Truman favored a national health care plan and desegregated the army, and fired that jackass MacArthur. He supported labor rights, and fought corporate corruption during the war. In 1952, he helped Adlai get the nomination for president.

Truman was a liberal, liberal, liberal! Right wingers shouldn't try to rewrite history!

And Obama will be even better!
