You know, that's one thing i love about living in a small town. We have less than 2500 people. Everybody knows everybody. There is that small town feel. When you walk into the local diner, farmers are wearing green with their shit-kickers, old men bicker about who's the better quarterback, everyone has their own coffee cup behind the counter and when you walk in you walk behind the counter and pour yourself a cup of coffee... Long live good morales
@Remingto22girl , glad to hear that some of the young people have the old fashion morals and values of the older generations altho i think you should wait awhile before you raise a family and enjoy your youth and get some fun outa life before you settle down and start a family of your own!! Please take this advise from someone whos been there, done that
@rednekdave59 I am 22 and i believe in everything that he says in this song. I was raised in cities the first half of my life, i've got to experience it all. But i still feel these ways are the right way. You can't even look at your kid wrong nowadays and they can sue you, AND WIN! I'm an old-fashioned, redneck, countryboy myself.

im 14. and i was raised like this. if you disrespect your elders or talk back to your mama and your daddy. your gonna be set straight. its yes ma'am and yes sir. you shake hands. if not its just disrespectful. you do what you told even if you dont want to. you work hard for what you have and be greatful for it. you say grace before you eat. family is everythin, and you know you loved. i truly believe this is how it still oughta be comin from a 14 year old..
Well let just start by sayin that im 52 and this song reflects how it was back then and im pissed at the kids of today thinkin that they're lives are so miserable and the lack of dicipline and respect for the older folk in this country!, but the blame cant be put completely on them cause the parents didnt raise them the way we were!!

Damn man, this song is the truth all the way through it. I'm pretty proud to have been raised this way, because I'm not goin to turn out to be some dirt-bag down the road. Thank God!
i love my backwoods logging town of 1200 in the mud season loggers leave though and the populatoin drops to about 400 and in the winter were lucky to have 700 its really sad what happened to the United States over the past 15 or 20 years thats why i will never leave the few and widly spread small towns of America
This is an amazing song and the message is so true and it really hit home with me and touched me very much.... Thank you for seeing things that way and for putting it into a song!!! Very awesome indeed and I should know because I produce music for a living....
back when i was growning up if i was mean and dint do what i was told my dad would take a mineing belt to me but im glad mom and dad did it i know sounds crazy but if thay dint teach me right from wrong lord know where i would be at today im 38 and im thankfully for what my mom and dad showed me back then and i can rember when gas was onlu 95 cents a gal and now its over $3 a gal times was a little harder back then but thay was a lot better u dint have all the drugs and fighting like you do now
Hey burrusfilms this song is awesome, but WTF man what does that mean, maybe instead of talking about how your not a druggie or crook you should learn how to spell "that's"
Oakley Kansas...almost everything Trent just sang is true, but i see things changing. i am a freshman in HS and i am friends with the "wrong" crowd, i don't partake in the drugs and alcohol, but it's a cryin shame how our HS is being taken over by "city activities"
i love this song sounds like it was when i was a kid,i think thats how it was in every small town.I still say yes mam and yes sir its called respect thats how it was and thats the way it still oughta be we need to take charge and bring that back kids now adays have no respect and i think thats what wrong with america
i love this song sounds like it was when i was a kid,i think thats how it was in every small town.I still say yes mam and yes sir its called respect thats how it was and thats the it still oughta be we need to take charge and bring that back kids now adays have no respect and i think thats what wrong with america
@T80Delta Come trade places, live where I do for a while. Town of 6600, in Michigans Upper Peninsula, miles from a major city. Closest "big" city is Green Bay, Wisc, and thats a 4 hour drive. We have 3 cop cars. You might be tired of city life, but were literally bored off our asses. Driving city limit to city limit takes 5 minutes. I havent met anybody new my age in years, and I just turned 20. Its the same old shit every single day. But Im never leaving!
im 13 and its still yes ma'm no sir if we talk back we get whooped and my sister and i stay out of trouble because thats how we were raised it dont matter even though im a girl i still get whooped when i backtalk same as my brother
IM 17 turning 18 in a few months and i got out of line when i was younger daddy whooped my ass and i didnt think then but i know now that it has made me a better person. im gettin ready to graduate high school and as i went through i relized that there is alot of people with no respect for anyone or anything but the way i was raised i cant bring myself to disrespectin my elders yes mam and yes sir the way i was raised and ill take that to my grave
@lobackbb I know how ya feel man, i'm in the same boat, 17, bout to graduate, my dad whipped my ass if i backtalked and shit, and I knew/know how to act, and I see all these kids at school who could still use a good whoopin!
im getting ready to turn 16 and this describes my life. i work hard for my money. i am one of the very few in my generation who are lucky enough to have parents that care.. if i ever came home drunk or high i would be in pretty big trouble.. go to church every sunday and school then work every Monday. guns are for hunting and knifes are for skinnin. god bless america.. even though its going downhill fast..
@indestructable15 my dad and uncle told me, if i ever get drunk call them and they will give me a ride as long as i aint drivin, but they also said that dont mean you need to get drunk every night. they also said if the cops show up you run as fast as you can out the back and over fences till you cant run no more
my bothers and me got the same story and all four of us are good members of society, never in jail, and doing great raising kids the same way we were raised
my boys are 3 and 4, and the first words they learned were yes maam/no maam. The only reason my boys ARE better than some of the hoods in our neighborhood is because we still believe in a whoopin' for wrong doin. hell I'm 26 and im still afraid my pappy'll bust my ass.
@bambamGUNFIGHT my uncle told me the secret wepon when a dad needs to teach you a leason, the grab your dick and stomp on your balls and youll never do it again. and hell my dads 47 and hes still afraid his dad will whoop him if he does somthin wrong.
Guy's if you like Trent...go check out another one of my favorite Artist Jason Sturgeon...Check out his new music video "The Cover"...such a true real song!!!
I am 20 and my parents raised me like this and then I went to college and kind of got caught up in the norms, got lazy, taking shortcuts, wasting money etc. Now I am realizing how important it is to be someone who works hard and is responsible with what I am given. I am leaving college for a while to work a great job and put myself through school in 2 years with no debt and a work ethic again. For all of yall that are teenagers still remember what you were taught and don't become like the crowd.
Im 16 and i was raised that way but i lost my dad at 8 so i had to help my mom at 13 to make it like i said im 16 and these people my age (most of them) dont care bout nothing which is rediculous.my bro and my friends (20s or older) taught me how to make it
im 16, and grownin up my mom was never around but my if it wasnt for my dad i wouldnt be the man i am today, he tought me the skills of life and how to make it on my own.....were im from all us lil boys growin up were rasied to say yes ma'am and yes sir if we said somethin besides tat u bet we were gettin whopped
I'm 15, I was raised good, my grandparents and parents knew how to raise me smart.. i was raised with alot of respect, I remember when I got in trouble i'd have to go pick my own Hickory to be spanked with, at the time, my childhood was boring and i was ready to grow up and move away, but lookin back, I'm glad i was raised the way I was..
some now 3/4 teens dont smoke im 15 and at my school 3/4 people smoke noone has respect in my ag mech class im a loner, im the only who respects the teacher
i am one of those kids goin back to this kinda thinkin. raised by a single mother in a small town in pa. ive always been kinda half country half city and the city part of me seems to be dyin. i want my kids to have a dad, and property. i want em to grow up huntin fishin ridin quads and fixin motors out where there safe and happy. the way my grandad grew up
wow ima a modern day young tennager and the life my parents and grandparents had sounded fun from there stoies an actuallly an intresting life....everytime i listen to a song like this it makes me wanna go get my freinds and do something with our lives....but everything gets in the way of tht now r.i.p america you had a good life
@snakegod55 Songs like this make you realize how great is was back then and how crappy it is now.. i wish we could live like out grandparents did and have the same loyalty and trust in everyone!
I may only be 20. But damn it if i stepped outta line my ass got busted. It was yessir and no ma'am not yah or nah. You learned to shake hands cuz you never know who it might be you're entertaining. I am so sick of talking to kids today that get rude and cocky with me. When i was 10-18 i treated anyone over the age of 18 as if they were my elder becuz they were.
@Chozenone90 i'm 21 and this is how i was raised. Personally i think it makes us better people than the ones of our generation that are in and out of jail or didn't make it to see their 20s
@Chozenone90 I know for a fact, I'm 16 now, and I have the most respect for my elders, if you're outta high school and over 18, you're and adult and deserve respect and will get it from me.
@Chozenone90 i think its all in your rasins. Like me, im 15 and im raised in the country way of raisin. Yes sir no ma'am i eat whats on the table. i help momma out in the kitchen, i clean, only guns you got is to kill deer, and rabbit. maybe some squirl. gah, now days its aweful at some of these parents ways of rasin their kids. (sorry about my spellin and gramar.)
@kallykat2015 good job pretendin, but you aint follin me, so your sayin i aint country cause i got guns to kill deer, elk, birds, mice, rats, cats, dogs, bears and anything else i want to kill with them. good job cleanin and cookin ya little sussy homemaker.
@kallykat2015 1st off your spellin' aint that bad. Im 15 too and Im the same way. Cept I got a coupla guns that arent for huntin'... mainly the sks. You get taught somethin' good bout anything and ya pass it on to the next person down the road
I'm sorry guys and gals but y'all depessing me.Thats it kakwalker and fireflorist lets just sit around and HOPE it doesn't get any worse!!! And y'all talking about having youngones(not you too, personally)Lord have Mercy on us all.
What u need is a hope and attitude injection.Sure my generation and the one before mine left u with a crappy world. Sounds like you've already given up.SoPr67,it still can be.Good choice CC131.Hope u lrn u can chng da Wrld
92% of teenagers have turned to Hip Hop and Pop.If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another 5 videos. DON'T LET COUNRTY DIE!!!!
I'm 20 and from a small town. I am lucky enough to live in a town where you can leave your doors unlocked and keys in your car and if anything happens your neighbors will be there for you as soon as they hear. We had a fire took my grandparent's shop and a week later we had people stopping over to help clean it up and go through what was left with my grandfather. That is how life should be,
Dang..im only 14 and Im such an old soul. This is how my daddy raised me. And its how imma raise my kids. Kids these days dont know how it used to be. But I do. And you know what? it may be hard sometimes, but hell, Im proud..At least I know how to act.
@CanadianChick131 i feel the same way, when i misbehaved for any adult i would get a ass beaten. some people say its abuse but i say it was disiplene and heck ive turned out better then i ever imagined i could have im 16 now and im a proud 4th genaration farmer and soon to be the 4th genaration in my family to join the military ive got pride and ive got my family and freinds and thats all i need cuz that how it used to be.
haha praise God 4 this song love it and specialy the part about the (whooping)oh God knows where i come from thts why the get 2 become a real man not some punk ass city slicker that always could do wat he wanted when he was littler and now good a good whooping
yes sir, yes mam, no elbows on the table at supper time, no hats on in the house....Born and raised in a town of 400; Now i'm the manager at a large scale swine operation.....God bless the country boy, because we are so rich, but have no money....
@burrusfilms im 17 and i agree with you there everybody here parties and gets high i was born and live in the city but im a country boy at heart and have been raised out there, wouldnt have it any other way
@redneck812273 we all party back home. we never had weed or anything like that though. only smoke came from bonfires and loud diesels. just a bunch of kids havin a good time and poundin a few back after a long week
@Vaneps0 Partying here is like sex, any type of drugs and crappy rave music. I stay away from that but i do love sittin on a tail gat edrinkin some beer with my girl by my side and some friends
@redneck812273 not gonna disrespect ya in any way, but you can't be country at heart until you were actually born and raised in the country. I'm extremely glad to see a city boy wanna be part of the country, but until you have lived in the country all your life, you'll never know the feeling.
hell yea. i'm 18 and a good ole farm boy. nothin wrong with gettin your ass spanked for doin wrong. spankin me and making me get my ass out of bed at 4 in the morning to milk is the best damn thing that ever happened to me
This is an awesome song. I came from divorced parents, but had many friends that had the mom and dad dinners. I envied them. And some of the comments here have ruffled my feathers. Trent says nothing about beating ur kid. Just whooping still hurts. Now a days u cant even get on ur kid wout child services being called! Thats whats wrong with kids today. You dont have to beat them, just bust that butt when they do wrong and make them tell u why they just got spanked. If u dont like it, dont watch.
I'm Being raised like this. And I love it, because i watch the news and i see that this 22 year old just shot a congress woman, and it's freaking sad! because even though i'm only 13, I see how the world is really going to hell! so i am going to hang onto these days as long as i can!
sometimes we all just get too caught up in things around us we don't realize what's important in life, like family and southern style ways of life. we can do better and bring it all back. come on y'all, lets sit down and turn off the t.v. and go back to how it used to be.
damn good song i hate the liberal faggits that try to tell us how to run things im 16 and this ssong makes total sense wooping yur child isng child abuse fuck libs
feel for you Fire florist... Raising my boy the same way... we can only do for them what was done for us! Keep up the good work! This's the way a good ol' American child should be raised... :)
These are the values my son will grow with ...and if he doesn't listen to me he'll definitely get a nice butt whoopin'! It will hurt me more than him but he'll appreciate tough love one day just like I do now.
@TheAtomic1234321 - you're 21 sweetie and probably childless so get a clue about what it means to parent before you open your mouth about the subject. And if you already have a child, well good luck to you when they walk all over you if you think spanking, when necessary, is abuse.
This guy should have been a super star long ago. I tell folks about bout him at any opportunnity i get! Wish I was younger I couldbe such a groupie. OMG this guy has such sex appeal, lordy lordy lordy .
Such a good song... I was raised about like this, even though I'm only 22. Too bad I didn't get to live and die during the good days. Now I have to watch the world degenerate to hell, and be unable to stop it, no matter how I fight.
Damn straight it'll be how I raise my little girl and unborn child.
@FireFlorist totally agree with you, I never was beat. but i knew damb well that if i got in trouble at school i would rather wanna crawl in a box in the ally behind the school cause the fit would have it shan with my old man. I'm 19 and was raised on a farm. i was on the tractor since i was really little and drove them by my self when i was about 7.
I tell my friends that i'll prolly end up in jail because of the way i feel a child should be raised. i wouldnt beat them. its called tough love
@FireFlorist aint that the truth. i was raised similiar as well. just without the "daddy" part. but we knew not to step outta line or moms would snatch us up. i got my azz beat many times. lol ppl 2day are, and forgive me if im too str8 forward, but ppl are just weaker and weaker as the generations come. every1 worries bout drugs n they miss all that actual crimes happenin. maybe you wish you could go bak in time...
@TheAtomic1234321 it was better back then,i mean sure there was violence and robberies and killings then but all of that has increased dramatically over the past 50 years.its not so much raising your child right cause one serial killer was raised up good, went to church and everything and look what happened to him. i think its more of telling your child what the good and bad choices are and telling them the consequences if they make the bad choices.and beating them doesnt always help.
@FireFlorist It hasn't changed everywhere I grew up bout this way and I'm only 16. And I wouldn't change any of for the whole wide world! I wouldn't have my dirt roads paved in gold even if it was free. I love the way I've grown up. And I'm damn proud!

@TheAtomic1234321 - you're 21 sweetie and probably childless so get a clue about what it means to parent before you open your mouth about the subject. And if you already have a child, well good luck to you when they walk all over you if you think spanking, when necessary, is abuse.
