My high school choir is singing this in the state festival in about a month. When I heard this it sounded just like us, hopefully that's a good thing. ;)
@FryingFry well no one knows exactly how latin was originally pronounced since its..cough.. a dead language, those who speak it like members of the vatican have been speaking it from an italian interpretation of how its pronounced, not necesarily how it is supposed ot be pronounced
This is a wonderful recording of this beautiful piece. i love this arrangement. I love this interpretation of the song, I love the staccato feeling. Most choirs make it more legato, which doesn't cut it for me.
Personally, (JUST ME) this song is too staccato throughout. The first relief should be after the basses "Lau da te .." and it should be legato and return to the staccato. Also, at around 1:11 you can hear where they missed a La right before They go into the Alto Bass duet, you can also hear it before the end.
Too much structure, still very well done, I just didn't enjoy the interpretation. That's music for you :D
Now thats how that's song is supposed to go! Perfect tempo. Good attention to dynamics. Great blend and balance. If i were judging i would definitely give this choir a superior rating. Job Well Done!
@iSeekperfection No. We got prerecorded tapes when our auditions were accepted, but no one bothered to listen to them. So About twenty-two hours of singing, and we preformed six songs, Salmo 150, Tawkwaba Uwabanga Yesu, Do wah Diddy, Ton The, Shojojee, and Morning Tide. It was insane. And when I say, I learned it, we preformed it without music.
I sang this in Allstate CHior about a month ago. I learned it all in 22 hours. I can't believe we pulled it off, and it sounded pretty. But that's what comes with a good directer
when i was in highschool, our chamber choir preformed this at state, we got first place out of 178 choirs that were there! We also sung Lacromisa and a peice by handel.
This is a very difficult song and this choir sings it very well. I really enjoyed it. They must have spent hours on the diction of this song. I remember mispronouncing everything :)
Absolutely beautiful! My church choir sang this song (in Chinese) recently, too! Welcome to my channel and give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ! Greetings from Hong Kong, China!

overall great job..harmonies were tight and crisp...as with the pronunciation as well...dynamics...dynamics...dynamics...got to work on those dynamics
Really good rendition of this song, but I agree with ChibiWhitetiger, what happened with the dynamics?
Oh, and not to offend anyone who was in this choir, but you really did just sound like a bunch of Americans speaking Spanish. You failed to capture the flair of the language and some of the pronunciation was off(eg. "che's" instead of "ke's"-type things).
Really big sound though, full and warm, I liked it. :)
@ChibiWhitetiger Yeah, they just killed the "Jubilationes(sp? don't have the music in front of me) part. They just stayed loud instead of starting piano and getting to fortissimo.
@showjumper659 yeah, Its latin btw, not spanish. My group did the opposite. We went from Fortissimo to piano o.o and from the lalalas after, got back to the regular volume.
@ChibiWhitetiger Ah! My bad, my choir director kept saying it was Spanish. I think it is though, because he(director) said that on the pronunciation of some word...(it escapes me which one) they were actually saying the Spanish word for something else...So, I'm not sure. 'Cause "psalm" in Spanish /is/ "Salmo."
@xicexpheonixx Absolutely beautiful! My church choir sang this song (in Chinese) recently, too! Welcome to my channel and give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ! Greetings from Hong Kong, China!

@ILoverzEmoKids Absolutely beautiful! My church choir sang this song (in Chinese) recently, too! Welcome to my channel and give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ! Greetings from Hong Kong, China!
I really love the song! The choir did very good, but the end was a bit jumbled together. Not the 'alleluia', but the part before it. I don't have my music with me right now to say what the exact words are, but I know that I couldn't exactly understand what they were saying. But I completely understand, that part is very hard. Other than that, they were excellent!
@ChathamVoices it may be better but theyre singing it as its written in the book, it starts at 12/8 time then changes to 9/8 around the middle and finishes with 12/8 again. which is what these guys are doing. plus, if its crazy fast no one is going to understand a word they sing, diction my friend, simple diction
@gtrplyr16: Neither the meter of the piece nor the diction has to do with its tempo, meaning it's possible to have both a clear diction and a fast tempo (I don't know why you even mentioned the change in meter). I do think this version is taken under tempo...
i can't wait 2 sing this at my concert..its gonna be fricken amazing...although i'm sure we wont sound as good as them we're only a high school varsity choir
you did great guys. I really appreciate this especially the effort. .. the bass is very good... to others, just learn how to appreciate the effort of choral singing. if your a choir you'll appreciate the essence of choral singing.

UGHHHH this piece is AMAZINNGGG. Our district 9th and 10th grade choir is singing it...nooo idea how it's going to end up sounding with less experienced singers such as myself! But it should be a fun experience! Best of luck to all who are singing it...especially you tenors! haha
Listen to this, and then imagine regular high schoolers & 8th graders singing this. Hopefully all will go well! But this version is amazing, just like most are!
oh wow, that blew my mind to another dimension! Ya I can't wait either! never been any farther than a neighboring state and getting to go to new york is a grand oppurtunity for me! I'm a Tenor. There's only 3 of us though:( The rest of the guys are bass!!
i'm in high school right now and about 20 ppl from my choir - including myself- are going to Carnegie hall in New York and we're going to sing this song!
Are you going to the Mass on Easter? Our school is gonna being singing in New York as well in Easter. We're from Phoenix, AZ we have about 40 people though!
THAT'S EXACTLY THE ONE WE'RE GOING TO! We're from Duluth, Minnesota. About 20 people are going. I'm so excited for it! OH MY GOSH, WHAT A COINCIDENCE THAT YOU'RE GOING TOO!
omd i ADORE this song! I sang as an alto at the SMU summer choral program and LOVED it. I sing it all the time even now and it's been a few months XD great job guys. I loved it!
i loved it. My choir did this song last year and we happend to take it WAYYYY to fast...its like we were running a marathon. But the tempo you guys took it as..is manageable. I loved it. great job!
woo that song was difficul, too fast! lol i was only some months in the chorus and i was mezzosoprano y remember that in the last part, Aleluia!, i singed like soprano once... it was funny
It's a good sound, but the problem with district choirs is no one ever listens to each other. I mean how can you? You're not used to anyone's voice in the choir, let alone your section. I love this piece; it's pretty much my favorite.
this song is good but as a freshman in highs chool the words are a bit difficult...but we are getting it... and we are doing this song for sumthing in virginia...im a bass... if you hear of a westover high school doing this song.. i wuznt there but i kud have been...
I'm singing this in my women's choir this year. We're taking it to state. I don't think we'll make it. This class is 75% freshman, and as impressive as they are, we are no where near ready. And as the senior of the class, I feel frustrated. An motivational tips on how to improve the song?
OMG!!! this was my choir!!!! and I HATED this song! we sang it too fast. the choir was clearly not prepared on the words but it sounds so good!!!!! omg!!!
My choir at school is doing it now, I'm a soprano also. and it's like you need to stay on the higher notes and read it fast! Will it get easier? (Also, need to learn in a month, tops!)
Haha, I don't blame her- so was I. Our director was a jerk, and our music was way too hard for a 2-day non-auditioned honor chorus. You know, we started one of our pieces the morning before the concert? It was awful.
our chamber choir is doing this
i took one look at it and said holy crap
haha i love it though

I was in this GMEA Performance. It was so much fun, and this song was my favorite, but everyone forgot the dynamics on the 4x jubilateonis

woo that song was difficul, too fast! lol i was only some months in the chorus and i was mezzosoprano y remember that in the last part, Aleluia!, i singed like soprano once... it was funny

It's a good sound, but the problem with district choirs is no one ever listens to each other. I mean how can you? You're not used to anyone's voice in the choir, let alone your section. I love this piece; it's pretty much my favorite.

I'm singing this in my women's choir this year. We're taking it to state. I don't think we'll make it. This class is 75% freshman, and as impressive as they are, we are no where near ready. And as the senior of the class, I feel frustrated. An motivational tips on how to improve the song?

My choir at school is doing it now, I'm a soprano also. and it's like you need to stay on the higher notes and read it fast! Will it get easier? (Also, need to learn in a month, tops!)

you're District 6 too? My sister was in your group... lol she was so mad she couldn't be with us

Haha, I don't blame her- so was I. Our director was a jerk, and our music was way too hard for a 2-day non-auditioned honor chorus. You know, we started one of our pieces the morning before the concert? It was awful.
