@Faraz70 because the lottery's determined by a machine not a person, he can't guess what the machine would chose as it has no emotions and would therefore chose nothing significant to it... furthermore, he has a more personnal interaction with these people so its easier to guide their guesses or understand what they'd do than say, someone on TV.

Stop trying to be know-it-alls and nitpicking at Brown's performances and just appreciate the fact that he has honed this fantastic mind manipulation talent! The beauty of it IS the fact that we don't know how he did it and we're left amazed and boggled. People just ruin the fun and the mystery behind it when they try and tell others how he does his tricks. If Derren Brown wants us to know how he did it, he'll tell us.

i'm always very surprised by the naivety of people. even if he does have a talent to read in a people's appearance or face, do you seriously believe he could tell the exact number and what the number is about? you just don't receive all this information just by looking at someone. nevertheless, derren brown is talented. he knows how to make money out of peoples gullibility. i just don't understand why no one would even dispute his realness.

@pojaidsf Lots of people have actually. You're not someone who's somehow too smart to be gullible among a sea of "sheeps and followers", it's just that despite all the disbelief nobody has caught any evidence to say that he stages anything. He explains it himself that he uses misdirection and illusion but he doesn't use stage actors to fake tricks.

Think about it. Why get them to change balls earlier? That's because one of the people is in on it. He or she is given the ball with the four-leaf-clover in and is certain to swap it with the person who is knows to have the WIN card.

That same person (the one who's in on it) somehow lets Derren know what the numbers are when he or she gets to look at everyone else's balls when working out the order.

Not sure how he gets the order right nor how he knows how they chose a number though . . .

His talents are genuine science. He cannot use his talent for that because listen, he isn't psychic, can't actually legitimately read people's minds, etcetera. Learn some stuff about him before you call him an out and out fake. He does live shows and picks volunteers at random. Good luck doing that and fixing the results. He is a performer, and a wondrous one at that. It is not fake, calling it fake is a ridiculous statement in itself, because he has proven time and itme again that it isnt

You are accurate in saying that he combines induction with cold reading (rather than mind reading. But, at least on the TV shows, he can count on the advantage of showing us only the statistical sucesses.. He is indeed, extremely good at his arts of - as he says - ilusionism, cold reading, hypnotical induction and... quoting always from him, showmanship.

Very simple! As Derren explains, you believe, and beliieve only, in what you see and, therefore, you believe you do not realise the high probability of this result occurring if the exercise is repeated hundreds of times. That is what Derren did but these participants only saw it happening with them - and that is also the only filming that Derren shows to the general audience (us, the converted believers :)

@joaoriquito The probability is not high at all if you repeat it hundreds of times. The probability of him picking the same six numbers that the participants picked is the same as the probability of winning the lottery, which is about 4 million to 1.

Everyone! I know how he did it! It's actually really simple. The participants spoke with him prior to what is in the video. He put each of those numbers in each of their heads beforehand. Donna even commented saying that he didn't hypnotize her. That's the beauty of NLP, when someone is good at it, you won't even know they're doing it.

Hi, it is fun reading these comments and I, like you, would have said the same thing if the tables were turned. Let me clear a few points up. Firstly, I dont do the lottery so guessing numbers is wrong. Also, when I said I enjoyed a couple of days, I meant that the day I was notified I had been picked and the day that we filmed were fun. Filming took just one take and lasted the duration of what was televised. Hope that puts a few consipracy theories to rest!

Hi, I'm Donna - the one on the video. I can say that we were not hypnotised at all. We spoke to Derran after filming. There was no way he knew what we would. Also, the ball was not coated &I have mine here, signed. The funny thing was that i actually had the flower in mine and then swapped it with Paul at the very last second - How that would have changed everything. Four of us have spoken since and we think we know how he did it but it is a very stretched theory - i will let you keep guessing!

Then, the winning ball has an imperceptable coating of paint that can only be seen with a special camera whose crew informs him is in the right hands... after a few shufflings, which may have been more than one that we didn't get to see.
