  • I'm sorry but people really need to get their heads out of their ignorant and self centered asses, and get some knowledge in stead! A lot of u talk shit about Ori Tahiti, but do u dance Ori? NO! Do u really know the proper way to do it? NO! Do u know any Tahitians at all? NO! So instead of talk trash and tell lies, get ur self some facts...

  • Ei to manea e maine! I hate to see all this negativity on here... Mate, I am not a monkey - Darwin and those Pakeha scientists may have found where THEY come from, but myself and MY people, Polynesians, we are from Hawaiiki, the land of our ancestors... and without Hawaiiki, then we are nothing because of the legends and stories and beliefs of old, are what make us Polynesians, and keep us strong in our culture and in this forever changing world... POLYNESIAN AND PROUD!

  • i know her brother :L

  • anon2u224, i'm glad you ask questions and try to learn. it's not like you were trying to say they stole it, you were just wondering. if only people could just read a comment/question, and answer it without taking it so personally. i'm sure a simple "no they did not" would have been enough.

  • Thank you for your thoughtful reply to my comments. Obviously, I hit some people's hot buttons without realizing they existed. I am generally careful when I know people are sensitive about a topic; but in this case I had no prior knowledge. I had no desire to offend anyone until after I was viciously attacked without good cause. This did not leave me with a good feeling about the Cook Island culture and people. I unsubscribed this channel because of the replies I got. I don't feel welcome.

  • farr diz gurl rox love the way she movies her hips fantastic job i love these sort of dance's the hula and dat are kwel but mostly i lkie the solo of the rarotonga cook island dance the rock! so gud dance!

    MEAN MAORI MEAN!

  • What's really fascinating is to look at the Polynesian languages...compare them to some Native American dialects. One race of people that I think have been overlooked are the native Taiwanese. The REAL natives are not related to Chinese. Without a doubt, they are more kin to Polynesians & native Americans. Look at them, their dances, their language, culture & customs. I thought I was looking at native Americans the first time I visited Taiwan. Wow! Look at all these Indians talking Chinese

  • not to put u down or anything but ur facts are about the first pacific islanders comming from south america are completely wrong...experts (white) from the 1800's and 1900's thought that we couldnt possibly navigate throughout the pacific..so they thought we drifted from south america to the islands riding the winds...but now days EXPERTS agree that infact we did originate from asia...even the easter island dwellers are said to be from asia..not south america

  • plz dont argue with me..i just want to u know the right facts...the stuff u been sayin are the info that was taught in the 18th century...universities around the world now teach that pacific islanders were from asia..hope this helps you

  • Funny...I heard that from a HAWAIIAN professor at UH Manoa back in 1994....certainly not WHITE and not the 1800's

  • belle dance tro belle la meufe

  • shame, polynesian dancing is ORIGINAL, y wud we wanna steal it frm any wur else? HULA is a POLYNESIAN thing

  • Hey Biatch!!! ...maybe your mama a baboon u silly cunt! Like i told ya before and ill tell your sorry arse again, do your homework and research first before you do your random

    comments you uneducated BIATCH..

e nara oki koe ki te kanga ere tama toou kitikiti ounga pirau... puaka monkey ua koe, tanapapeti.... mete karukaru lmfaoooooooo!

  • E mea! pui toou me kiriti ana? e te tano rai taau autara ki ai. me akarongo koe a te tai pupuapii.. ka kite te tangata e Aitutaki ua koe.

    ka kite ra!

  • someone, somewhere else in the world, will read this and think that all cook islanders are rude and ignorant jerks like yourself. kudo's on shaming us all, really. and insulting somebody in a language they dont understand? usually causes people to think ur 'skeed' =)

  • what are you taking about?

  • You know what i realized ? I realized now that Cook islanders who were born and lived in overseas for many years tend to be f***ing rude and arrogant compared to the Cook islanders fresh from the islands. Poor anon, he is very naive about the cultures of pacific and all these so-called islander "black wannabes" come and bash him with many foul languages. So is this your so-called Polynesian hospitality ?

  • my comment wasn't directed at anon.

it would make no sense to say something like that to anon... o.O

  • @Mohi hes just a little brat still wet behind the ears n needs a smack behind the bum with a stick

  • @BABEEN hey babreen try to grow some hair...you sound really stupid hahaha

  • Cook Islands dancing isn't borrowed from Middle East, Tahiti or anywhere else in the world but the Cook Islands it self. And no Jules27 our girls don't do bellingdancing nor do they copy Tahitian? ...its more like the Tahitian have been copying the Cook Islanders for years cause they had the resoucers and the money from the french and the Cook Islands is only a lil nation of about 14000 people strong in identity, they swing there hips with feet and hand movments to coinside with the song etc...

  • Thank you for this explanation. From the little that I know about the migration of peoples and cultures, I would suspect that the Middle East got its start from the Pacific Islands, but I have no evidence to support that theory. I am very interested in small isolated groups that have been able to maintain their unique cultures in spite of the pressures of what is now called globalization. These are scattered around the planet and need to be protected if that is possible. Also, I enjoy dance.

  • ....if u mean bellydancing, no, tahitian dance is TOTALLY different, and it is not borrowed from the middle east. it is original.

  • this isn't tahitian dance, its from the cook islands - both the dance styles are different. And the Cook Island drum dance wasn't copied from the middle east, they danced like this forever.

  • Thanks for sharing. I am just beginning to study these dance styles trying to understand the differences in culture that the dances reflect. I could tell immediately that this was not belly dancing, but I did see a little similarity, like centuries ago someone borrowed from someone and built on that. For someone who has never studied dance before, it is hard to spot the nuanced distinctions. I have watched a fair amount of belly dancing, but the Pacific islands' styles are very new to me.
