  • Anyone know the chord at 0:47?

  • I'm lovin' the B.B./Hendrix quote there at the end. Very nice.

  • Man rocks

  • All things considered it does show that no matter what age we live in as long as as we have 110 and Strat someone will find it and make it holy, just like it was always meant to be. I'm 52 and lovin' it, thanks John!!!!

  • 5:42 I don't know what they're saying but... My sentiments exactly! :D

  • DeLa was throwing guitar picks off the stage and it hit me in the chest... so I was saying that it hit me haha.

  • damn lucky hahaha

  • I used to be so into mayer but am now realizing much better guitar players. He's a good songwriter though.

Notice that for JM's solo the band doesnt play the complicated chord changes in the bridge. Just the E7.

    Gotta love that pentatonic scale.

  • does it have to be complicated?!

    fuck.

  • uuhhh JM doens't just play the E7 and neither do his entire band and bridge isn't even an E7 dumbass! thats the 1 chord! he playes the D -7b5 and walks up to the 4, so it is in no way simple or dumb. and how many amazing guitar players just play the pentatonic? uhh just about all. thats including eric johnson, steve vai, Joe satriani who people claim to have the best chops. heck even scofield breaks it out once in a while

  • Mayer is the next big thing.

    He's like a mini-Clapton.

  • HAHA! that goofy mofo in front of the camera kept doin the 'Rocky at the top of the steps' pose. btw, this was pretty good sound quality for using just a camera. mine would sound all crunchy. lol

  • Need more blues artists like this! I love how they use different instrumental solos.

  • every time i watch him i just go in my room..pick up my strat and wish i was that good (and had that tone)

  • Its just a really tube tone with a vintage strat

  • this one's awesome!

  • I thought this was an Ashford & Simpson tune. Can anyone verify the Ray Charles thing?

  • It was wrote by Ashford and Simpson for Ray Charles, who made it popular in '66. It was then covered by Humble Pie, Styx, and in this case, John Scofield/John Mayer.

  • just sounds so good!

  • this makes me wet.

  • freak :D

  • i came

  • Ray Charles would be proud.

As would Jimi Hendrix probably be.

John Mayer is one of the greatest young and new musicians, and in my opinion he's potentially the best the future will offer.

  • HAH

  • Ray Charles wouldn't be proud.

  • Pretty sure Ray Charles WOULD be proud... and JM is putting his own twist on a classic song, he's not supposed to sound exactly like Ray Charles. You couldn't come even remotely close to the amount of justice JM gives to Ray Charles when he plays that song.

  • Almost any musician would be proud if someone liked their song so much that they covered it. I would be flattered if someone covered one of my songs, even if they did it horribly.

  • well first things first... obviously you guys can't get past mayers previous pop image and can't open up your mind enough to realize how incredible he is at guitar.. next i completely agree with odiosus in saying that john mayer will be the future of blues... so until you get past your body is a wonderland, just shut up

  • haha he messed up and played it off soo smoooth haha

  • Very nice video, thank you.

  • ahhh!! this was one of the best songs of the night!

  • chalkdust torture style!!!

  • DUDE i was at that concert!!! is that the one in san antonio??? yah that song was rad glad he did a ray charles cover

  • I can't wait to see him play up close; I know I will be dancing in the aisles!

  • fucking sexy.
