BBC REALLY need to animate the lost episodes! Quite a lot of Patrick Troughton episodes were lost so it would be nice to re-animate them! ESPECIALLY for Evil of the Daleks!
What happened was after six years of Doctor Who, The BBC had heaps of recorded episodes that were taking up space and expensive to keep. With Colour tv starting it was believed that no one would want to watch black & white tv anymore. It was a decision from the head of BBC not some useless BBC bigwigs. It was cheaper to erase the recordings and re-use the tapes. Do some research first.
I thought they just junked them. If they recorded over them, is it possible that some remnants of the episodes are possible to extract from the tapes? I guess that could only happen if they could figure out which ones were recycled into what show. :(
By the way, they didn't just junk B&Ws, they were junking colours too. It was insane. They were junking episodes that were only a few years old, from the Pertwee Era.
when it was a brit colony, we sold lots of dr who over there, but we cant find out if some of the lost eps are over there because of robert mugabe |=(
Great trailer. I like the fact that you open on the "new" Doctor's face rather than the logo; and although it's true there's not much left in the way of footage for this story arch, you've used what you have to full advantage. Kudos again.
It doesnt open on the face *instead* of the logo, its put there as it is meant to be the closing image of Tenth Planet Ep. 4. I like this approach, it makes it look like a proper trailer :)
Very good. Power is under consideration for animation - if Invasion fares well on BBC4. It'll be in colour though so as not to put off the youngsters - philistines.
well, you have to realize that invasion was only missing two episodes, this serial has about 10 minutes total of actual footage (from a filming a tv screen) that survives.
I'll say it again, the 1st and 2nd doctors probably had the best epic stories, even better than than those of the 4th doctor. Though yes the latter is a bit better than Nos. 1 and 2 as a character. What I wouldn't give to see all the dallek classics from the Hartnell and Troughton eras!
excellent! the BBC shud do animated episodes for all the lost episodes including power and evil of the daleks, that wud be a fantastic way to bring the patrick troughton era back to life.

If I was the Doctor, I would just go back in the 60s and warn BBC NOT to erase any on the old black and white episodes.

That's because it wsn't until late 1970's I think 1976 that a new rule stopped the erasing of recorded tapes.

Robert Mugabe is one of those Doctor Who fans who hoards his collection, eh? What a jerk
DJdeadlyDALEK 2 years ago
Really? Whoa! I didn't know that.
SuperWaffleNinja 2 years ago
The Robert Mugabe story was a hoax a fan started on a forum. While Zimbabwe could still have episodes, the president isn't hoarding them...
NyeTunes 2 years ago
The story is the BBC can't look for them in zimbabwe cos mugabe won't let them in...

Good work, Where did you find those clips of Lesterton exterminated and inside the tardis episode 1?
