  • Thank the good Lord for people like General Curtis Lemay. Made the commies rethink waging war with the west. They would have been beaten with tremedous losses in the tens of millions in the mid 1950s.

  • SAC's big day was the advent of the inflight refueling boom, hence the KC-135 stratotanker. This made any aircraft intercontinental. SAC began accepting the KC-135 in June of 1957, I was months old at the time. My Dad was serving with SAC at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Tucson, Arizona.
