@benjewboynett Thanks. Pretty simple to get that sound. Evans G2 Coated on top, Evans Hazy 300 on bottom. Just tune to a mid level pitch, not too high. Match the pitch on both heads. It will be big and wide open.
Thanks for posting this. Makes me want to get back into making my own tracks as well. Well done. Getting this set in black sparkle fade very soon. Bass drum is astounding. I have an AA Raw Bell Dry Ride. I want to hug it sometimes.
@TheCanadianGrape Thanks! Appreciate the comment. Yeah, I noodle on guitar and bass a little but far from what I would consider to be good at it. It is not on itunes but if you would like a good quality mp3, just PM me and I'll get it posted so you can download it.
@uhaveachode1 Thanks. The finish on the kit is a limited edition. They only offered, I think, 300 kits. Apart from that it is the same as the standard MCX.
Not a huge fan of the snare or the track (liked the bit in the beginning with the keyboard though), but DAMN that kit sounds amazing! Love the toms, that sound is exactly what I'm looking for. Also the hats are killerrr! After listening to this I'm seriously considering buying a pair of those :) Great video man!
@electrizer Thanks! I tune the top head and bottom head to matched frequencies. So if the top head is a F# then I tune the bottom to F#. The 10 and 12 are tuned fairly high compared to the average pitch that most would choose. Hope that helps.
i really like wood snares, i can only like those, but ye, nice recording man, good work, i really like your cymbal set, real simple yet characteristic
Nice playing dude. Those Pearls sound awesome. What snare drum are you using? BTW, I am picking up a mapa burl kit this weekend which includes the deep snare. Can't wait!
@AHeroWithin I would pic the 17 personally. I like bigger crashes as they have a bit darker tone. The only thing with the Evo's are the fact that they are so thin that they travel a lot after you whack em.
@razorkick4321 Yeah, the APX 20" Crash is a bit darker than the smaller versions. It is a nice weight, size, and tone for washing on. Really nice tones and not as over powering as you would expect from such a large cymbal. I really enjoy playing it.
hey man im looking at getting this kit im just wondering what you paid for the kit (shell pack) thanks

How do you like the Evo crash? I'm not sure if I should get the 16" or the 17"
AHeroWithin 1 year ago
@AHeroWithin I would pic the 17 personally. I like bigger crashes as they have a bit darker tone. The only thing with the Evo's are the fact that they are so thin that they travel a lot after you whack em.
randyrossdrums 1 year ago
@randyrossdrums Yeah the only thing is it needs to blend well with my 17" AAXPlosion which is why i might go for the 16" since it's higher pitched.
