And look at all the bigots congregating on this video. Suggestion: Remove the stick from up your asses and maybe then you'll be able to enjoy the music.
there are worst issues confronting buddhism - corrupt priests, semi-forced conversions etc but big wrongs do not make small wrongs ok... wht is wrong is wrong... today it will be this, in another 20 years it will be mangala sutra... we as buddhists never disrespect any religion, so return the favor mr. gayan perera...
people drum udarata drum when singing the "Jayamangala gata" @ weeding in sri lanka, but people use big drums in Myanmar, and change it to buruma dash, like that it is changing according to the tradition and culture.daddy just add Weston drum on it.bt he wont to be responsible because he override the sir Lanka traditional culture.don't put religion here and mix it up,bt if you try to re paint sigiriya paints, then what happens?that's what u happen ddy.don't hassle each other, chat proffessionaly.
@kaputachatboss yap, but don't make a fight , i think it is better to show the real points which they are ignored, and give them a chance to re correct it. ask them to remove that "jayamangala gatawa", i think they will understand it and remove it, if else handle this case with media and news, but hassle is not suitable , because it doesn't transfer the real message which we want to transfer.you breaks "musawada weramanii sikapadan samadiyami" if you don't ask go to the temple & ask.
It is also known as the Middle Path or Middle Way.All eight elements of the Path begin with the word "right", which translates the word samyañc (in Sanskrit) or sammā (in Pāli). These denote completion, togetherness, and coherence, and can also suggest the senses of "perfect" or "ideal". In Buddhist symbolism, the Noble Eightfold Path is often represented by means of the dharma wheel (dharmachakra), whose eight spokes represent the eight elements of the path.
The Noble Eightfold Path is one of the principal teachings of the Buddha, who described it as the way leading to the cessation of suffering (dukkha) and the achievement of self-awakening.[2] It is used to develop insight into the true nature of phenomena (or reality) and to eradicate greed, hatred, and delusion. The Noble Eightfold Path is the fourth of the Buddha's Four Noble Truths; the first element of the Noble Eightfold Path is, in turn, an understanding of the Four Noble Truths.
AMAZING SONG.. THE TUNE ..THE VISUAL.. EVERYTHING BLENDS WELL.. EVEN MY MUM LIKES THIS :) I'M A BUDDHIST WHO FOLLOWS WHAT LORD BUDDHA TAUGHT. NOT LIKE SOME BUDDHISTS WHO JUST TALK ABOUT IT WITHOUT PRACTICING. & I DON'T SEE ANY DISRESPECT TOWARDS BUDDHISM IN THIS SONG! "DADDY" IS A GREAT BAND....UNIQUE..! & GAYAN IS SO TALENTED.. i LOVE THE VARIATIONS HE USES WHEN HE SINGS. KEEP IT UP GUYS! :) & DON'T THINK FOR A SECOND THAT YOU ARE NOT POPULAR COZ U REALLY R!!!!
Being a Buddhist I don't see any wrong in using that verse.. But only thing is that it just doesn't go with the song. Actually song would have been better without the verse!!!
LIKED THIS BAND BEFORE BUT NOW I HATE THIS BECAUSE THIS BAND LAUGHS AT BUDDHISM AS THIS WHOLE BAND IS CATHOLIC. Shame on SUNIL PERERA for having such a son (racist)
I see no wrong in this. He's just using the verse to give a realistic feel to the song, and correctly portray Sinhala wedding traditions. To the people who whine about this : get a life and know what you're talking about. A simple verse used in a song does not tarnish the image of Buddhism.
Being a Buddhist, I respect my belief , country, rest of Sri Lankans, I think this band is performing well disregarding their religion. I can't see there is any discrimination on any ground towards Buddhism or Buddha in this song.. Well done Daddy, Buddhist from Down South
personally i dont like this song(feel like the two rhythms dont mingle properly) but i dont think his intention is to insult Buddhism.but a question arises at the point where, not being a Buddhist and not knowing anything about it,does he have the right to use Buddhist stuff like this according to his own wish?what ll be the response if bible verses were used to rap a song?if he had a brain of a size of a peanut he would have rather kept himself away from unnecessary troubles like this
@jani70072 This is a democratic country and every one has the right to use what ever they want!! verses from the bible are used in many hard rock songs. ( Egs system of a down - chop suey) and no one gives a fuck coz religion is not law.. I dont think this song discriminates buddhism..This just proves how sri lankans are jealous and uncivilised!!
@sinhalese4ever ya then what about irajs song which got banned recently for using versus of quran in it??m pretty sure he didnt have any intention to discriminate islam too.m talking about any song with bible versus in it sung/written by a SRI LANKAN who is not a christian or vice versa, when its like that its natural for anyone to get a wrong idea.if democracy allows evryone to use what ever they want this country doesnt need law and order
@jani70072 well im sure the government banned Iraj's song because the muslims belongs to the minority of Sri Lanka and if they didnt ban it, the muslims would start jumping over there asses saying that the government is harassing the minorities..I have listened to that song and i dont see any big deal for muslim folks to be so offended anyways..Islam is more likely an evil law than a religion anyway..Religion is the main barrier that holds 3rd world countries from developing..!!
@sinhalese4ever Well said brother. religion is something people look for as a saviour these days. And they go after rly stupid aspects and loose their selves in meaningless stuff like this song issue.
@sinhalese4ever religion of course isnt law,but every religion has its own particularities.if evrybody starts using those stuff according to their own wish saying its a democratic country any religion would end up getting mutated and all its values will be lost.this is a matter of ethics not democracy..democracy after all isnt the best way of living.so i believe every religion should be left alone with respect and not to be (ill)used specially if you have little knowledge about it.
@sinhalese4ever no offence but i dont think most of these people r just jealous or uncivilized.its just mis-communication.as u say its a democratic country and people have the right to talk,to protect the values of their religion.simply cause they believe this song violates those values, doesnt mean it really does.in a country like ours an artist should know well enough how people think, after all thats what makes him a good artist.
@jani70072 what I dont understand is, why are we sri lankans so concerned about religions when no one practices any thing what their religion has said.Sri Lanka is one of the most corrupted and dangerous countries to live.. Our women get raped and murdered every day, people been murdered for nothing every day..is this how sri lankans practice religion, In NZ no one give a fuck about religion and hardly people even get robbed..!
@sinhalese4ever this is not according to the religion, it s about sri lankan culture, did you ever seen , drum stars are playing in sri dalada perahera, like that, it is playing jayamangala gata in a drum beat make some effort to the tradition. the song is nice and beautiful , but have to re correct that small part, that is my recommendation.
@89janith well I'm a buddist and I really dont see this gathawa sung in between this song as a disrespect to the religion..Buddhism is a philosophy and a way of living not a violent religion like islam..so no need to panic and start hating each other!!
@sinhalese4ever when comparing to many other countries still sri lankas rape rate is low.u cnt just say our women r getting raped daily, incidents do happen everywhere in the world.after all whole world is going towards a disastrous trend.if sri lanka is as dangerous a place to live as u say they wont include it 10 most suitable place visit in 2011.
@sinhalese4ever Every 2 minutes, someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted.annually its more than 250,000.n ur saying sri lanka is one of the worse.lol.i study abroad too but i still see hell a lot of positive difference in sri lanka than any of these countries.i dont know why ur arguing about this even but its a well known and a proven fact that crime rates r more in European, Latin american n american continental countries n we r no where near
@jani70072 Sri Lanka is tiny country and there is too many shit happening in this small piece of land!! seems like u even live in a worst part of the world...i reckon u might be in the US..well too bad..sri lanka is far more verse than the US..Sri Lanka has been incapable of being politically stabilize where we have a vast political government than US.. and I dont know why u wanna have a blind eye on SL knowing we SL is full of shit and going down every second!! life sucks in SL!
@sinhalese4ever u seem to be pretty solid with ur ideas to refuse reliable statistics even.by the way i just took usa as an example only.i still find sl as a country with a stable, educated, wide middle class ethnicity among which i ll always be comfortable to live in.america, Europe and middle east n whole first world is sinking in a rate far ahead of us.if life in sl sucks for u let it be that way,yet there r many ppl who still like living in sl.
@jani70072 yeah of course if people have money SL is the best place to live. The wealth in SL is shared among a very few ppl (mainly politicians), where the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer.. The most corrupted country!! dude Sril Lankans need to change their way of thinking if they wanna move up..If we wanna accept and consider our present living style in SL is good, then we are gonna be a poor country for a very long time..!!
Language of "millawa100" shows the TRUE colours of modern day sri lankan buddhists I guess..lol;)). They live far away from lord buddhas teachings..:)
Awesome..wish I could play this song at my wedding..er..thats only if me and my gf get married I guess..lol.;). Any way thumbs up DADDY..:)) keep up the gud work guys..F*** the ass holes who dislike this saying its an insult to buddhism..They themselves are THE true insult not only to buddhism but to the whole mankind..:)
This song speaks about a part of life where 2 people get married. And the mangala suthra is chanted in any buddhist wedding. What daddy is trying to portray in his video and song is about the struggles two people in love went through and they eventually get married. I don't think that he was trying to be disrespectful in any way to Buddhism.
Extremists need to chill out and learn how to appreciate the music.
Just checked this out as I read that this song has been banned. Hey guys, this country is sure gonna need a few plane loads of shrinks in the near future.
