hey wats up hey do u really recommend getting the mac book? my pc notebook broke so i am looking for a new computer please tell me wat u think thx so much! =]
@callmejosiah hey next year ima be in gr 10 and will be in a independant school where there arnt any teachers unless u need them for help or something and was wondering if i should get a mac. I will not be getting a new one because of the economy and my parents budget so i will be getting either a referbished or a used one from kijiji. Should i get the used mac and get all the new parts and such or should i just buy a pc.
(Google) Notifier is a small app that manages most of the services offered through Google like Gmail, Google Calendar, etc., and it can be configured to notify you of new email, appointments, and other things.
thanks, glad it was helpful! and yes, the MacBook can access the internet in any country, provided you have the necessary login info to gain access to a network...
well i dont know why but when i got a new laptop i wanted to sign in to my youtube account but it didnt recognize my username and password when it was 100% correct!
Great video, but I appreciate your responses to every comments/questions. I found out everything I need to know just scrolling through. Can't wait till I buy this laptop in the summer before University.
I Cant Wait To Get Mines March 21 Or 22 Its A Long Way To Go This Is Going To Be My 3rd Laptop I Had An Acer And A Gateway I Hope This Dont Break On Me
I'm thinking of getting a mac as i am a pc user at the moment but can't decide between an imac 24inch or the new macbook 2.4ghz. I am just coming up to my gcse's (big exams in England) and was just wondering if I would need a laptop for taking into school?
well, based on the fact that you're a university student, I would suggest going with the MacBook as its portability will very likely come in handy (moreso than the added screen size/power of the iMac)... I keep my MacBook with me at all times while I'm on campus, and it really takes a lot of the stress out of keeping track of emails/due dates, not to mention having a portable with you for word processing/notes.
well, considering it's a very portable notebook, I'm more than happy with the MacBook's screen size/resolution, and it should suit most users just fine... just for the sake of mentioning it, if you're planning on doing any gaming or video/image editing, you may want to look into either of the MacBook Pro models.
I actually bought the MacBook for a couple reasons- 1) to replace my iMac, and 2) to have a portable computer that i could take with me on campus... I wouldn't say it's better than a desktop, but it definitely holds its weight when it comes to processing power (especially with audio/video encoding). if you watch the second half of this review, I go into a little more detail about performance.
btw- the song I played was "11:00am (Daydreamer)" by 10 Years...
yes, there are actually three parts to the speakers, all mounted within the back half of the MacBook (from the A-L row of the keyboard to the vent at the back). if you look closely at the second half of this review, you can see one part of the speaker mechanism at the top left (the black plastic part by the fan).
How do you find the screen? i heard that the black levels and colour accuracy are just as bad as the last generation, do you find an improvement? i want to get one of these, but not if it has a terrible screen.
to be honest, I can't picture the older MacBook's screen well enough to make a comparison, but I'm pretty content with the screen... it's definitely no 17" MacBook Pro screen as far as color accuracy/screen quality is concerned, but it suits my needs just fine.
there's nothing wrong with keeping the macbook constantly charged right? because most of the time my laptop stays in one place and i always leave the charger connected.
that shouldn't cause any problems, though you'll want to let the battery run down/recharge at least once every few weeks (for conditioning purposes)... as far as I know, any power coming from the adapter will simply bypass the battery once it is fully charged.
got a question. Im a PC user going to go to MAC, i use outlook for my email.. what program is there to use on MAC and is it easy to setup with the POP3 and SMTP stuff? Let me know!!! Thanks
it depends- if you need the extra speed (i.e. for more than word processing/browsing the internet/light video editing, etc.) and have a need for the keyboard backlight, then the 2.4GHz version would suit you better... otherwise, everything else about either version will be the same.
as a suggestion- if you do go for the 2.0GHz version, I would wait a few months for DDR3 RAM to drop in price, just because most companies are still only mass-producing mid-range DDR2 and haven't transitioned yet...
Thanks for the advice. I think I'm getting the 2.0 GHz version and wait for the price of the RAM to drop like you said. I'll probably upgrade the HDD first.
Sucks that it doesn't have a FW port though like my current macbook (I use it for my external hard drive) But I'm not about to spend $2000 just so I can use FW lol.
ya, that was the clincher for me, too (or I would've gone for the low-end MBP)... my next camcorder is going to be USB-based, so I don't need Firewire any more (though at least I still have FW 400/800 ports on my iMac, just in case).
that said, the 2.0GHz version is still a great computer (you're still getting a C2D processor), and I think you've got a good plan in using the "leftover" money to upgrade the HDD/RAM... good luck to you!
see, to some people that feature is more useful than OS X's simple icon view, but if I want to view a live preview or "thumbnail" I just launch Expose (not the "app switcher")... more often than not I actually end up just hitting Cmd+Tab and switching that way.
thanks for not simply saying "Vista is better" and at least giving a reason why you think so... :)
well, it depends on whether you need a few things- 1) larger/slightly higher resolution screen, 2) a physical graphics card, and 3) Firewire support... that aside, both notebooks have everything else in common.
good call, I figured it must've somehow been related to the the better hardware... if a faster-spinning hard drive gives that much boost in performance, there's a good chance I'll be picking up a high-speed SSD for my MacBook once they become affordable!
A friend bought a Intel X-25m 80gig drive and installed it in his Macbook and I was surprised how snappier it made the OS feel. In fact it felt much faster then my 2.66 intel iMac - very impressive.
hey, great video! i'm actually getting the new macbook for christmas for college, so these videos are helpful for questions that I did have.
btw: i was wondering if apple offers a free monthly wireless internet? cause a friend of mine got free internet for 30 days when he first purchased his macbook.
the only "free internet" deal that I'm aware of is with AT&T and Apple, but I don't think it's MacBook-specific... let me know if you find out any more info about this. glad the video was helpful, by the way.
Nice, i want one of those macbooks so bad! I cant wait.. in 3 years my mom said she would buy me a macbook if i got good grades :) i love macs and i would prefer it over windows ANY DAY btw u rule man, your starting to get some fame xD
honestly, I think the choice comes down to what someone needs in a computer, but like you, I would prefer OS X to Windows any day... and I can only imagine what Apple's notebooks will be like in 3yrs!
Yeah, that plus what you like/dislike about one over the other etc. I don't know if others are interested in this kind of thing or not, but I am as I'm in the market for a new Mac and even after looking at both and playing around with them at Best Buy I can't make up my mind. I've thought of both positive and negatives for each but can't really make up my mind. Either one would suit my needs as I don't use anything very intesive.

the questions i have are:
what did u primarily get a macbook for?
is it better than a desktop?or is it only better than a desktop because its easier to take it around campus?
do you do any video editing with it? if so how good dose the mac perform?
and what was the first song you played in itunes?

In your opinion, is the $300 difference of the 2.0GHz and 2.4GHz model worth it?
I'm thinking of just using the $300 I save to upgrade my RAM to 4GB and i'll still have money leftover lol
