There is a 7 year gap between Origins and 1. However, what happens in 1 is all a direct result from the ritual Dahlia performed, burning Alessa alive. Cheryl isn't a reincarnation of Alessa, but rather the 2nd half of her soul which was split in half.(Shown at the end of Origins.)
