The difference is most other cultures grew, adapted, improved and generally grew up. Muslims are only aloud to lie when their live is at risk because they are muslims, not about other things; which is very logical... would be something if muslims were not aloud to save their lives. Which is logical if you know the history of Islam, where non-muslims many times betrayed the prophet pbuh, and we still see the war on Islam these days. That s why it s our obligation as muslim to stay close to each other. 9.3 is also not about deceiving; It s about the non-believers in the time of the prophet who broke the agreement/pact they had with the prophet. People treat people well or ill, not religion. Such an assertion made by so-called muslims is simply fallacious. Its yet another rhetoric.
A person's religion is granted by God. While you might force/coerce an individual to sign-up for your club-religion, you can't change their core-vision. That's between him/her and God.
The "fanatical" focus on recruiting members -- as if real religion is a club you join -- is just off. It reflects a mentality that is steeped in ignorance.

So I can't just become a muslim, christian or hindu. My religion is designated according to my core-vision (heart). Even if I signed-up for islam, it still would not gel with me if my core-vision, were aligned with another religious process.
A transcendentalist understands, that various religious processes are put there by God, for all of His children, according to their particular mindset or level of spiritual development.
This means Islam isn't meant for everyone.

You may think you are practicing "true Islam" but then someone else may think that their interpretation is the correct version. Fanaticism about what is written in any religious texts and those who try to enforce their beliefs on others are the problem.
