I remember the very first time I heard this song, it has stuck with me for 30 years!
I had to track it down a year or two ago not really knowing the name though, I LOVE YOUTUBE for this very reason, you can find damn near any song you can think of.
As a person who appreciates melodic music in general, the music in this song is very hypnotic, and has an almost drug like effect when I listen to it. It is pretty obvious no doubt that Hine who produced the Fixx's early albums had substantial influence on their sound. This song, substituting Cy's voice of course, could rather easily pass for something off of Reach the Beach or Shuttered Room. I believe this is what genius can do when left uninhibited by the media and clueless record execs.
@pewploid A Fairlight? If your talking about the synth, then no, I don't think Hine used one. It is my humble opinion that he probably used a Propeht 5. Its got that sound and Prophets were in their prime back then. A favourite among musicians of that era. Although, he could have used other synths as well. How do you know I know anything about synths?
@carriersignal I was thinking that also -- how close it was to an actual Fixx song. Of course, if it was there would have been drums and bass, and the guitar would be more memorable -- but the spacy washes, the "openness", clarity and interesting vocal layers (the things that defined his Fixx production) are all here.
Hine needed a competent, open-minded band to express this concept fully.
Fixx needed someone to shape their sound give them direction.
I honestly didn't know that Rupert Hine was the original composer of this song. But it's still great! But try this one made in the mid 80's by a swedish synthband called NASA. Don't know if YouTube will remove it. I've just uploaded it.
@NUCCIOCONTINI56 please pardon me for this indulgence, but can't resist mentioning that i still have mine :D much cherished. it's that matt finish that it's hard to avoid covering with fingerprints
When i was young, i n the early 80-s, i heard this song on the swedish radio when i was in the northen of sweden, working as a skibum...love it still, Nobbe
Anyone remember Cafe Jacques? Rupert produced their classic albums from the Seventies, Round the Back and International. I've started a facebook page for them- check out 'Fans of Cafe Jacques' for latest news on the band.

Right right right, well everyone who know's anything about the "ruperts", knows that Rupert Greenall is in this montage, because he was Mr. Hines lover
I used to love this one, and just discovered I still do. Time to pick it out again. And then I'll probably end up playing Samsara over and over again. Yup, I¨'ll do it right away! ;.)
that's obviously jamie west-oram on guitar in this song-but you knew that-right?

Someone asked if RH used Fairlight on these songs - no, it was the PPG Wavemaker II - something that I craved immensely! :)

@carriersignal well stated friend, you can clearly see how much he injected his signature keyboards and atmosphere into The Fixx cheers :)
In fact I think The Fixx should cover this - just to see what they come up with !!
