This is how i litter trained my cat

step 1:put your cat in the litter box

step 2:let her/him investigate

step 3:most cats have insticks soo from now on she/he will know what to do with the litter box

I have a problem with my kitty & the litter box. Can anyone help? My cat is just over 1 year old now. She was already litter trained (kinda) when I got her, she always goes to the litter and does her business in there. Great job right? WRONG! She NEVER burries it when she's done. heres what i do... you hold them over the litter box, and have them dig, then you point their ass inside the hole and squeeze it. do this for several days until they shit in the box all the time

@mykylc If you have a good enough hygiene, soap and water will do the job just fine. Few diseases that can be transferred from cat to human are aggressive enough to have owners use disposable gloves. Of course, it is partly up to taste, but gloves are certainly not necessary and I don't use any gloves myself and never have when it contact with any kind of animal waste.

@universalsongster its an instinct for cats to bury their own feces so its pretty easy to show them where it is.

@universalsongster lol, no, you don't need to include the poop. The litter is not sand. Cats should understand that they can bury their pee and poo in there, they usually figure it out on their own, you just have to show what's available.

@universalsongster It recognizes it because of the sand. You should always clean your litter box daily and wash it regularly (although 1 week might be excessive depending on cat and amount of cats). As mentioned in the video, cats will not use the box if it's too dirty for them which might include it finding poop in it.
