The 6.5 x 6.5 prop is probably the better choice for your top speed since it has a greater pitch and smaller dia than 7 x 5. I think the problem is your prop is going transonic with your setup. For the airfoil on the prop anything faster than Mach 0.85 is going to have reduced lift due to the pressure wave building in front of the leading edge. If you can set a RPM limit in your ESC to about 33,000 RPM that is Mach 0.84 for the 6.5 x 6.5. For the 7 x 5 Mach 0.84 is about 30,500 RPM. Cheers!

Another option which works with your 22.7 volt lipo would be to change to the Neu Motor 1509/2.5Y 1450 kV. 1450 rpm per volt with 22.7 volt puts you right at 33,000 RPM (assuming no voltage drop), but would be really close to what you are looking for with a 6.5 x 6.5. This is an expensive option where a cheap option would be to go to the "Turnigy 2200mAh 5S 30C Lipo" 18.5 volt lipo which would put you at about 34,000 RPM @ Mach 0.86. Cheers!

Oh that explains it,.

But I would also guess you have to mathematically match your motor with the power. Like if I ran a 6 cell 12 volt batter with my little 2200 I would probably fry it!

I am trying to make sure I understand how the math works so I can make a video that explains it correctly to help people buy the right stuff for there needs.

It is hard to do because manufactures all say different stuff. I though KV ment RPM, obviously thats not true here! Off to do more research.

Yes I am very impressed, I have discovered it is hard to find what kind fo motor will put out what rpm and at what weight to thrust ratio.

I have a little 2200 KV its gets the job done nicely but I have no idea why that motor works but its not near as fast as your plane running a 1800 kv I am using a 7 x 5 prop on it.

Im not complaining it goes nice does verticals no sweat but it doesnt have the speed yours does!

Hi Man...its running at 1820 kv i believe ...the motor is frequently used for rc boats..

its a verry powerfull engine...i love it!
