Right I remember reading about this. Every television station in America straightened up after this.

WLBT definitely cared about black viewers after this case. It was probably the only NBC affiliate to air "Showtime at the Apollo" BEFORE "Saturday Night Live". They finally changed the schedule when the station was sold a few years back.
