  • IMHO this lead by Denny is one of best melodic leads ever. You make it proud.

  • Very nice!! I enjoyed it.

  • ***Salutes*** Awesome & Effortless....

  • Now to the part AFTER the drums! See you in a few years ;)

  • Awesome! I didn't realize Dias was on this one! Great job. Steely Dan has been my favorite band since I was 16 in '86.

  • heard it so many times its weird to see it actually played.

  • Great work, sounds really good, smooth playing!

The transcription (Rob's work, I just did the chords) is on my site at hakwright.co.uk

  • @Howard: Thanks! And I take this opportunity to thank you even more for all the SD transcriptions you did and all the other great guitar stuff you share on the web!

  • Look for Howard Wrights transcription. You'll find it somewhere on the web. It also covers the second part played by Becker.

  • Nice playing really enjoyed it. Where can I get a copy of the transciption of this solo?

  • Great!!! Next: Denny's solo on king of the world!

  • Beautiful. The Skunk would be proud!

  • Hey, you left out the best (and hardest) part. Nice try, though ;)

  • F-Yea!!!!!

  • great but there is more after the guitar solo

  • Wow. Great Stuff Man!!!

  • NICE! Nice Telecaster!

  • Very nice. Did you use any electronic training aids to learn this?

  • Thanks! I had some help from my computer (to download the transcriptions) and the phrase trainer in my BR600. Though I would use the slow-down function in Audacity now, because you can hear the details much better.

  • That's it - you nailed it with soul and wit. Thanks mate.

  • Awsome man...one of my favorite Dan songs for sure

  • Great job! I just started learning this solo.

  • Nice work man! That's such a beautiful solo by the unmistakable Denny Dias.

  • Nicely done, my favourite Dan track.

  • Denny Dias has the touch. Tasty stuff.

  • Very nice.

And yes, that was indeed Denny Dias the first time around.

  • don't think it's a denny dias solo. has more of an Elliot Randall ring to it. one of my favourite all-time guitar solos, btw. outta this world.

anyway, top licks. time for part 2 of the solo...

  • nice chops! that's a busy chord progression!

  • great job. wish you played the part right after you stopped.

  • Thank you. I will try Walter's part later ...

  • Very nice!

  • Ni-hi-hice! Exact. Also, you look a little like Lewis Black, did you know that?

  • Thanks! I didn't even know Lewis Black before I googled his name - but, yes, he looks damn good.

  • Definitiv Großstadtmusik!

  • incredible
