-Alexandria Quartet (4 books: "Justine", "Balthazar", "Mountolive" and "Clea" by Lawrence Durrell...amazing and exotic)

    - "Journey to the End of the Night" by Louis-Ferdinand Céline

    - "Life: A User's Manual" by Georges Perec

    - Henry Miller, "sexus" "nexus" and "plexus" (very harsh language and scenes too tho...the god of the beat generation)

    - "The Count of Monte Cristo " by Alexandre Dumas (bet you have already read this one)

And my absolute fav: Thomas Mann, everything

  • @dhoakohime Thanks! What a list! And yes, I've read the Count of Monte Cristo, but I read it in French! Dumas is wonderful.

  • 20 year old male here.

In January i read three books of Jane Austen (Persuasion, Sense and Sensibility, Emma) and i loved them very much! And that's kind of funny since I'm mostley Since-finction/ fantasy. Like, Harry Potter, Eragon etcetera.

Thanks for showing your books :)

  • @johanneswingerlang Awesome!

  • @cheesestreet Thanks :) Since you're a book worm I'll say if the cast of PP were at Hogwarts Bingsley would definitely be Gryffindor and Mary what else but Ravenclaw

  • @incufish23 Hahaha! Yes!

  • Just finished Pride and Prejudice and as a 25 year old male young business professional it's one of the most well written pieces I've had the pleasure of reading.

Just finished rereading H.G. Welles The Time Machine which was exceptional & starting Robinson Cursoe

  • @incufish23 Great to hear that men can enjoy Jane Austen! And Robinson Crusoe is excellent!

  • Book recommendation: Killing Floor by Lee Child

  • @greenbutterfly101 Thanks!

  • To Kill A Mocking bird is my personal favorite. I remember when, in my freshmen year reading that book in class. Although, I couldn't believe that my classmates resented that book because, it had too many pages and it was "boring". I mean come on!? To Kill a Mockingbird has warmth, humor, and deals with racial inequality.

  • @TheNostaglicFlower Totally agree! It makes me sad that lots of kids lack the attention span and interest to read these classic novels. Reading has always been fun for me, and I'm so grateful for that :)

  • So great to see a book review video that isn't just vampire romance... Excellent choices :)

  • @OpheliaDagger Hahah I read Twilight but I'm not really a fan. I much prefer ... real ... literature ;)

  • Omg I loveeeeee Russian authors! Something about the way they write just captures u!!! My favorite would have to be Anna Karenina bg Leo Tolstoy!!

  • @SPcaptor96 Anna Karenina is next in my giant pile of books! I can't believe I haven't read it yet, but I'm very excited to start it!

  • @cheesestreet I just finished reading it for my grade 10 independent study project where we had to choose our own book to read! It was amazing!! I could barely put it down!!

  • I fowarded the video past 5 minutes a bit and heard you talking about "a tale of growing up" and "innocence" and I squealed inside hoping that would be a reference to To Kill a Mockingbird; and it was! Keep up the great vids!

    ~George

  • @Georgefromboarding Thank you! One of my all-time favourites (obviously!), and definitely something everyone should read :)

  • @soinlove8306 it's how people in Canada spell it

  • You know, they don't make you read classics in High School here any more, which really sucks, because I've never read To Kill a Mocking Bird :(

  • did you realize you spelled favorite wrong lol!

  • omg i see new moon in the bag ground <3

  • My fave Chuck Palahniuk book is Rant! I have almost all of his books, I think they're fantastic! I'm reading 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' by Lionel Shriver. I'm also a big fan of the Wicked series.

  • you spelled favorite wrong.

  • @ExpertDraw Favourite is the Canadian way...

  • @kimberkidz and the English way.

  • @HannahMarieRoberts oh, yeah, and that :)

  • @kimberkidz the Right way ;)

  • @BabyLovesMakeup Thank you so much! You sure know how to make a girl smile :D

  • Wow! And I thought that I had a lot of books. People's book collections on here blow mine out of the water.

  • Have you read Joseph Boydens books "Three Day Road"? its a canadian book and it won the same prize as the frist book you held up.I mean I don't want to give too much away about the book, but the book is set in WWI and two oji-cree soldiers are the main characters. soo... yeah check it out

  • @saddlechick I haven't read that, but that sounds EXACTLY like the type of book I would love! Thanks!

  • You remind me of one of my favorite singers!

  • I had to read "To Kill a Mockingbird" freshmen year and it's still my favorite book ever:)

  • @xoTheMONIxo Haha thank you :)

  • Love your description of Marlon Brando! And thanks for a great book vid.

  • Hey there!

Since you are partial to all things Russian, I read an interesting book (for a class, but still) called Sacred Doorways, which is a guide on iconography and symbolism in Russian art. Though it deals mainly with religious iconography, I still found it fascinating how the cult of the icon lingers in Russia today.

But light and breezy reads I recommend are One Day by David Nicholls and The Romantics by Galt Niederhoffer--which is epically better than the Katie Holmes film!

    Take Care!

  • @beautyinterrupted89 That Russian book sounds fascinating! That's exactly the type of thing I'm interested in- I'm nerdy haha ;) I'm going to try to track that down.

  • i actually prefer reading plays to seeing them acted out- especially bertold brecht ;)

  • Harry Potter FTW!! :)

  • hey there :) as you like russian guys, have you read dostojewski? he's AMAZING!! but I actually don't know if his books are available in english... I also love Erich Maria Remarque's Autobiography (WW2)... greetings <3

  • @SwissGeek1 I haven't read Dostoevsky (North American spelling ;) ) , but have always wanted to. His books are available in English, so thanks for reminding me to get my hands on them! Haha :)

  • Have you read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies? Awesome collection btw.

  • @ShayyleenKaacie Oh my goodness that sounds awesome. Pride and Prejudice and ZOMBIES!? Must. Find. Now. hahah

  • Have you read Memoirs of a Geisha? I loved it and when you read it you have to remind yourself it's a novel, because the story just sucks you into a different world that, to me at least, felt so real!

  • @titadanceismypassio No I haven't! I think we have it in the shelf somewhere, though..

  • I have the same boxed set of LOTR as you (got mine at Costco, I think, several years ago, along with a boxed copy of The Hobbit).

Also had to read To Kill a Mockingbird in high school. I don't remember much of it but it was a good book.

  • @bluehawaii19 The box set was a gift, but not surprising it's from Costco hahah ;) I have yet to make it through all the books... Much preferred the movies.... with Orlando Bloom... :P

  • we didnt read to kill a mocking bird... it was a toss up between that and another book and our teacher choose the other one ... other classes they read it tho.... u read such intellectual books nothing wrong with that ... just that when i read for fun i like to read "fun" books u know what i mean? hehe

  • @TheGLOSSette There's always a time and place for silly and fun books! I like reading them, but they're just not my favs :)

  • makeup tutorial on the look u have on in this vid pls?

  • @TheGLOSSette Okay :)

  • i love 'one day in the life of ivan denisovich' one of my favorite books too!!!. oh and you have to check out hunger games ;-)

  • @MsRazmatazz I've been meaning to check out that series! I keep hearing about it! I guess it's good, then, eh? Haha

  • @cheesestreet YES IT IS! ....I'm done now...

  • Boo Radley did get a bad rap!

Have you ever been to the (American) South? Two of your favorite picks take place there.

  • @Zusie I haven't really... I've driven through Georgia and the Carolinas on the way to Florida, but I'd love to visit more of the South like Louisiana!

  • @cheesestreet I live in Louisiana- it's not as charming and pretty as Georgia or the Carolinas :)

  • @kaitlinr4u I'd still love to visit, especially New Orleans (totally obvious)! Where we live always seems less exciting than other places haha :)

  • My favourite book is Atonement by Ian McEwan. It is so beautifully written and the film is also amazing. I would definately reccomend it, it's a really good read :) x

  • @theadventuresofali I've actually been meaning to read that! I loved the movie, so it's definitely on my list. Thanks for reminding me about it!
