This opening is way better than the one in brawl simply because of every aspect to it. In this opening the played exciting up beat music. They also played it to the beat of the character motions on the screen. And they put their own little seens in that weren't part of the gameplay. Yes they did that in brawl to but they didn't even play any excitiing parts of the adventure.

OK 2 things. 1) When I first saw this opening cinema after I took SSBM out of the case for the first time, I nearly shat myself it was so awesome and so epic and 2) I wonder if at 1:15 was how they originally planned the Final Destination stage to be like, or if that was a stage that they had planned to use exclusively for the Giga Bowser fight at the end of the simple yet (imo) unforgettable "Adventure Mode"

honestly, this opening is way better than the one in brawl, mostly due to the music. if you play them one right after the other, melee's intro music is clearly more exciting. it's not just nostalgia, the music has variety, energy, AND the video it's played with is matched up with the music, combining visual and aural characteristics, crescendoing and decrescendoing in sync. it's not just a collage of the scenes from some story mode.

I would say that 0:18 - 0:23 is my favorite part. I think it was pretty artistic how they showcased Mario, and then showed Bowser in the fire with the glowing eyes. I've never seen him look more badass.

Samus' short fight with Ridley would be second. I hope more games like Other M come out, so players can actually FIGHT with her instead of just shoot. She's a WARRIOR, not simply a good shot.
