  • yo dawg, I heard you like watching youtube videos, so we put a youtube video in your youtube video so you can watch youtube while you watch youtube.

  • Paul definitely used a Hofner in Come Together, in fact i'm pretty sure he had moved back to the Hofner to record Let It Be and Abbey Road

  • You're saying it like "Hoof-ner". It's Hofner. Not Hoofner.

  • I have a Hofner Icon Beatle bass, along with a Fender P-Bass, and I love playing it. It has a deep, pure, organic sound, and I play it straight into a bass amp without pedals. I also love its light weight and easy playability. The only thing I have against it is that the strings are closer together than me P-Bass, which makes playing fingerstyle harder, so I use a pick. All in all a great bass. Maybe someday I'll have the money to get me a 500/1!

  • is the 400 dollar hofner bass the same thing as paul used?

  • @BeanTheCoffee Nope, Chuck Testa... that's the chinese version, I've never tried it, but it's supposedly ok. McCartney uses that $3500 german piece of beauty.

  • my hofner left-handed 500/1 vintage '64 arrived yesterday!

  • Whats the songs name that starts 1:47?? plesae help

  • @toisver Michelle

  • @beatlefan247 Omg thank you!

  • @toisver The song is "Michelle"

  • When he plays the bass at 2:00, is it equipped with tapewound strings or is it my idea?

  • @CubeableGame I'd assume that they are La Bella flat wounds, because McCartney uses them and they come standard with the German Hofners.

  • @ShadowPheonix12 You are probably right. Flatwound strings are awesome! I use them exclusively.

  • funny the songs they chose for the examples are songs he played on his rick 4001

  • Thumbs up if you came here for paul mccartney!

  • ok, i got a violin style bass guitar, i didnt have enough money to get a hofner, so i got a cheap one, the brand is " De Rosa " i have never heard of this brand and cant find anything about it. can anyone give me info about this??

  • @Ajhkatsumoto I Have had a Hofner Ignition, Contemporary, and the vintage. Ignition is the 'lowest' quality one, but still makes the coolest bass sound ever. Your De Rosa one is basically a mimic of the ignition. So its very good! I'd suggest buying some pyramid flatwound strings to max the performance. good playing friend.

  • I'm from germany like hofner :P

I bought one 2 weeks ago.. it looks soooo good and the sound is simply great...

  • tell her to quit saying "Hufna" she sounds like an idiot.

  • @PiratedFilmsPro Then stop watching it already, it's her accent.

  • also message to hofner tryto match the color of Paul's bass more I don't like them with yellow and black bursts :p

  • I have to say the cover bands are a little creepy :p

  • What is the song that he begins/starts at 2:23? It sounds very familiar.

  • @MrRathazar Lady Maddona!!! lol i cant blame u for forgetting this song cuz i forgot as well lol

  • it's ironic, Come Together was recorded on a Rickebacker!

  • @afzoomie67 on a fender jazz bass

  • @afzoomie67 Nope, it was recorded on the hofner, listen, the bass notes are very "short".

  • @theyodaclub The 'F' he hits is longer than normally on his Hofner; therefore, it's on a different bass. I've also read in many books that it was recorded on his Ric.

  • @afzoomie67 There isn't and F in the whole song. But I'll take your word for it - I wasn't trying to be rude!!

    Isaac

  • @afzoomie67 Ignore my last comment, I have just realised that there is!!!

    Isaac

  • @theyodaclub Haha, it's fine. It's the 5th note he hits. I'm a huge Beatles fan. No worries.

  • @afzoomie67 right

  • I have one. They have a real thumpy, boomy sound. Great basses

  • what's the song that the German man playz? at 2:23

  • @awesme14 the bass line of the song Lady Modonna by The Beatles...

  • @venomchaser88 thanx!

  • i'm getting a black one for my birthdasy i love the look of them!

  • i like watching Paul mccartney's youtube video from a youtube video

  • After I visited Guitar Center and played the Hofner Beatle bass, I fell in love with it!

I am going to sell my guitar and earn enough money to buy the Hofner Bass.

I'm not much of a bassist, either - mostly guitar.

  • Its funny because in the begining they are playing come together and paul used a rickenbacher not a hofner

  • Finally bought one a week ago! along with a fender Rumble 75 amp! My neighbors never complained any worse!

  • Hofnarrr.....hopfner....knopfler.....oh never mind

  • too bad Paul played a Rickenbacker on Come Together....

  • Name of the song on Background?

  • @PSPbrtag Michelle, and come together(beginning song)

  • @Bombazor

    Thanks a lot man!

And i thinking i knew almost all Beatles songs =(

  • Haha it takes time :D, it doesn't matter really. It's not like if you know more songs, you are more of a beatie. No :P, just if you love them, you love them, simple. :) cheers

  • The lady said hufna, so i want a hufna!

  • I want a hufna!

  • @rhall1969 Huh?

  • it-s a beauty, that bass is a god damned beauty, but, i'm a p bass man.

  • the hooufers are quite impressive lol

  • I love my Hofner bass

  • what the fuck is a hooofner? :P

  • @JosephODonnellMusic The instrument pronounced correctly... You may notice it's spelt with a "ö"

    -.-

  • ilove hofners sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much if you do thums up

  • bulletman100 If you think they are junk can i have them?

  • Just bought a hofner

  • all of the songs they played during this video werent on a hofner. they were played on a rickenbacker 4001

  • @wagonrace lol' isn't that something?

  • I hate the way she says it, even if it is correct! Hooofnuh. hahahaa

  • the hofner is probably the worst playing and sounding bass ever made. it was a mediocre bass to start with. it make a dull thud. paul sounded much better after he go the rick 4001.

  • This is an awsome bass and if you ever get a chance to own one you will change you're mind.

I do agree with you on the Rick 4001. I just saw Paul this last summer & I was hoping he would break out the Ricky for the Venus & Mars tracks. He just used the Hofner.

  • @dbrowdie I have had 2 hofners. One was a 1968, and the other a 70s model. They are junk. I have played a 1977 Music Man Sting Ray through a 1972 Ampeg SVT with an 810 and 215 cabinet pair for 20 + years.

THAT is a professional rig. Hofner? please.

  • boah terrible string height!

  • @natrockskate yeah.not

  • i just got a hofner as well. it's smoooooooooooooth

  • smoothest bass ever

  • Paul made it popular. Hofner didn't make Paul the great musician

  • Hufner lol

  • They play Come Together, but that was recorded on a Rickenbacker haha

  • @Tyler18GoPhils it's by the beatles, the icon for the beatles is either their name in the "beatles" font or pauls violin bass. it is a rock icon. they probably picked it because it is a groovy section of a song that has no lyrics, so the listener would notice the beatles song, but would't get destracted. (:

  • Do Hofna make left-hand shamisen?

  • such a beautiful bass. i can only afford the contemporary series for now. i'm going to get the teacup knobs though, any one know how much the teacups are?

  • @Nymun Paul used a hofner for everything up until Revolver. Then, he got his Rickenbacker 4001, and used it up till the Let it Be sessions, and started to play his hofner at that point. Also, he played a J-Bass for some White Album songs (ie Dear Prudence).

  • Paul's the reason I'm going to buy this beauty, I'm barely even a bassist lol (mostly guitar)

  • @rockerr12595 Dude that's exactly me. I agree with you 100% and Im doing the same thing lolol.

  • what song is on 1:48

  • @jpasdi1999 Michelle by The Beatles

  • oh my, beautiful bass

  • i just got a hofner

  • @MsBobohj SAME THEY ARE THE BEST

  • what song is he playing on 1:53

  • @monge111

    "Michelle" from "Rubber Soul" album

  • @Timp7503 Thanks

  • he used a rickenbacker and a fender jazz during the last couple of studio sessions with the beatles

  • @Nymun Nope, you're wrong. He's use Rickenbackers and Fender Jazzes in the studio. 'Tis a fact.

  • @knuckles362 he used the hofner even more than the rickenbacker studio was tis a fact

  • @SiKxBlAzEr Yeah, but you said he ONLY used the Hofner. Big difference.

  • @Nymun Rickenbacker? Fender Jazz?

  • why are they playing come together?

Come together was played with a rickenbacker

  • @boilingpoint3 Come Together was in fact played with Paul's Hofner. Look it up.

  • The "o" in Hofner is umlautted, so it is pronounced Hoefner.

  • Paul played Come Together and Lady Madonna on his rickenbacker...

  • Hurfner?

  • yeah i was thinking the same thing i thought it was pronouced with a hof not huf.

  • Got mine 30 years ago. It's still rockin'!

  • I love this video. I just picked up one of these works of art this week.

  • Cool...
