im a teenager in college most of this applies to me, especially the part about 'playing school' thats really all we do most of the people who are in school only care about passing, well alot dont care about that even.
The problem is that these kids who grew up in the digital age have the attention span of a mentally challenged sea sponge. They also have been exposed to more advertising than ever before, and most don't read anything worthwhile on their own time. Yes texting is reading, but the quality of material read is also important. I know very few young people who can say thay've read real literature for enjoyment outside the classroom.
This is great! Of course kids will cheat. Everyone cheats. Ever been on a diet? The point is not for a kid to use it during a test. The point of this is to find useful ways to engage children in curriculum using things that they are interested in. We do need to plug into what our children are doing. They are talking to us everyday. The question is are we listening. I am a teacher so I do understand.
Then you could have webcams that are built in. then talk with students across the world! By person! cell phones are used for cheating on test to. if your a teacher in high school, you might hear small beaps or vibration during a test. If you see girls with there hands in their pocket book all through class, there text messaging across the class or even through the school for test anwsers. for example one girl might say ( answer to 21?) but other then that great idea! nice video!
the teachers are going to the digital age in a different way... smartboards, tablets, little lazer powerpoint remote thingys... cell phones wont work!!! unless you get some type a school only phone that can only be monitored by the employes like most of schools out their that only allow good sites to come up. What students need is small light weight laptops thats connect to the schools wireless internet. Then you put all your heavy textbooks in the laptop! continuing comment in next box
