hey im trying to find a good school in the Ip Man Linage wing chun at richmond BC but i just can't find any. Can anyone recommend a good master with years of experience
i totally agree with you, made me laugh. its not that i dont think it's ineffective i just dont think that "that" move will really make the opponent fly away to where he pointed.
I love the way he says things like 'We make our enemy on the floor' or 'We kick this, and then we make him... fly away, if my opponent fly away, then this is the last motion'.
@ todei79, it doesnt matter that his back is to the camera, if you know and practice Wing Chun, you can see his angles and know what moves he's doing. And yes, most sifu's today are a joke. Gary Lam is one of the very few who actually knows Wing Chun.
Sifu Gary Lam is awesome. It's great seeing someone that actually knows how to use the dummy instead of like all these people calling themselves masters trying to beat the hell out of it. Of course I should just stfu since I'm not up to the wooden dummy yet, but seriously, even I know the wooden dummy isn't a wooden punching bag.
Man, I wish he had positioned the camera somewhere else. There were quite a few time when he was doing stuff on the dummy but his back was to the camera. Come on sifu, better videos.
good but i'm better - Check me out doing my form by typing 'Wing chun dummy detailed' in youtube's search engine. Let me know what you think - str8Blast
Although I have bought 2 of his DVD's and I respect him very much, I would never buy this one, cause you cannot see what he is doing in the dummy. The camera angle is positioned completely in a way you simply can not see a thing 50% of the time. Is the whole DVD like this?
pay attention to what he is saying or what he trying to say. an actions causes a reaction and he explains them how, why and what. to reach this stage dummy form you have 2b very good in wing chun already anyway and you need an instructor to show you properly. watching is not good enough(its likely u get it wrong).
Really... I have not noticed that... Hmmmm paying attention sounds interesting. You are buying a product that is intended, among other things (like listening, for example) to be seen. Thanks for your comment phoenixifist but I guess we have to ask more for our money.. That is all. I already have 2 of his DVDs and are great!
i understand n glad 2 help even a little. i used to buy videos as well but when i had a master/teacher i still carried on buying until i reached a level where books/magazines n videos doesnt help anymore. where a(one) lesson fr a teacher is worth 10 or hundred dvd's. but it still worth buying fr good masters/teachers as master lam. respect n gud luck.
we make him on the flawr!

I think the worse they are at speaking english the stronger they are in teaching wing chun, e.g Master Wong, and Master Gary Lam XD they are awesome.

I love how he points up to the sky after saying 'we make him fly away', as if the guy is actually going to start flying off high into the distance.
