I wonder, how fast they get this ID with 146hp, whereas a 600 4T with all the current technology can only surrender 120cv. Congratulations, is a true low-flying jet.
Big soft-spot for 2 strokes, not the best memories of the RG500, big trouble between me & my bro when a low sided his, expensive repairs.
(the RG500 had issues with poor casting, welding & fit as pipes join the motor, some dyno'd around 75bhp & were weak missing the 2nd powerband; but if you cleaned up the castings & ground out the weld where it ought not to have been then the bikes as standard could hit 90 - 95bhp at the rear wheel & did give that mad 2nd powerband)
Two of my friends died on gamma 500's they just had that insane factor you couldnt resist the second powerband thats what made them dangerous, your right rd500 more refined but a lot more sane as well. My friends head was decapitated riding a gamma 500 in a 30 mph zone.RIP
No chance. I bought a standard '87 RG500 from Stan Stephens in 2001, beautiful bike. Standard trim gave me 77, possibly a tad more depending on some minor factors, at the wheel. Tuning to stage 3, pipes etc takes it over 100bhp quite easily, just from porting, flowing and disc valve work etc.
@TheTwoStrokePower You remedial!!! It's a 500!!! Look at the TWO pipes from under the seat... Plus one on this side of the swing arm. Did you listen to the sound? You think your 250 sounds like that??? You obviously no nothing about RG500s or you'd know Scott's name :-/
@exup1k Hahahah, it's 98hp (taken from RG500's workshop manual) RGV 250 does 60hp stock. Go figure for a RG 500. Use logic instead of breathing through your mouth like a retard.
@Renceau You complete fucking dipshit, you know absolutely fuck all, commenting on youtube like you even have half a brain cell - taken from rg500 workshop manual - you compete fuckwit - the standard rg500 or even rd500s made between 70 and 80 bhp, 77 bhp was the given. why you quoting rgv 250 at 60bhp?? whats that got to do with an rg500? Oh a Honda RS125 can make almost 45bhp - so where does that leave you rgv250 at 60bhp?? Rg500 makes about 77bhp stock, i have had 6 of them, not a manual!
@exup1k 95hp at the crankshaft. If you ran a dyno on the rearwheel it would probably show "77" or something, but they were sold as 95bhp bikes. Unless there were special restrictions on them in your country of course, but unrestricted they had 95bhp.
If you open & gut the gauze nonsense out of the main body of the ex. pipes & clean up the cyliners castings & the pipe welding & you can have a pretty standard RG500 hitting about 100bhp at the rear wheel.
see rg500delta
that guy - like Mr Dent - really knows his RG stuff.
@mgtkr1 hahahaha relax mate he could have put in the weight of the bike and the brake on the rolling road to make it look like it has more power 145hp is alot from an engine like that damn the most your could get out of a rg250 is about 60-65hp and thats from my experience man i got a rg250 track bike it just seams like alot of power
@mgtkr1 take it easy tiger, hes a dyno tuner not an engine builder, twat. i was saying the way he runs the bike on the dyno is strange compared with running on engine dynos learn to read before you open your mouth
on the view of the carb why are they not openingup all the way at the same time? any body is that an adjustment issue? the rear slide seems to not open all the way up or is timed alte to the front carb too? any answer?
They actually are opening at the same time, if you look at it a few times closely...it's just that the lighting difference makes it look odd, especially in the first shot @ 1:34 - 1:39. But again, if you look carefully, they are sync'd okay.
@soccerisdabomb18 That's an interesting thought; kinda like the differing height velocity stacks on a Mclaren Can Am engine... but I really believe, if you watch really closely, the bottom carb is really shadowed, but you can tell that it's sync'd with the top exactly.
that man has no respect of the motorcicle he has protected his ears this is pure eargasm aaah i came

@exup1k Dude, do you have hormonal issues?
Anywho, RD 500: aproximately 87hp (crank) varying
RG 500: approximately 95hp (crank) varying
That's about 70+ rwhp for RG 500
and 60+ rwhp for RD 500.
RG 500 was a much more refined bike.
