Both the First Temple (Solomon's Temple) and the Second Temple (Herod's Temple) are built over Abraham's altar which is under the Al-Asqa (bluish-greenish dome) mosque.

The Temples were built over the Gihon spring which is at the southern end of the Temple Mount.

The Dome of the Rock (gold dome) is at the northern side of the Temple Mount.

most of the archeologists claim the temple was where the dome of rock is.

that's also comes well with many documents, as well as the jewish tradition of praying to the western wall because it was closest to the "Holy of Holies", and the closest spot on the wall itself is on the wall, inside the muslims quarter of the city.

i wouldn't count on the opinion of just 1 man. most likely the temple is not located where al-aksa is because of architecture positioning. since the rocke dome is located right in the middle of the mount, most likely it's sitting on the temple (or part of it).
