i dont feel shocked or anything when i hear the music and know jaws is coming. i just feel the glee building up knowing that someones going to be eaten.
Saw this 11 times in the theater when I was a kid. Every time the head was about to pop out I would go to the concession stand and get a 3 musketeers bar. That scared me shitless. I was 9 years old.
When I was young, I only watched this show to watch people get eaten. The men on the boat giving their heart-wrenching speech only bored me. I was a disturbed little kid.
An actual STARGATE/PORTAL-THING was caught on film in New Mexico. The footage can be found within the short-film entitled "SUDDEN PORTHOLE", which is parked at the PROJECT CAMELOT YouTube page (it's under the George Noory video).
I'm not selling anything…I'm just trying to spread the word about the unseen-dimensions we find ourselves embedded in.

Worth seeing for the Robert Shaw Indianapolis speech alone. That's the big difference between this and run of the mill thriller/ monster movies, this one had the writing and made you care for the characters.
I am surprised you didn't mention that the reason you don't see the shark that much is because the prop kept malfunctioning. There was panic on the set and they simply could not get the hydraulics to work reliably in the salt water. Eventually they decided they just had to work with the footage they could get and BAM masterpiece.
Please check out the Trailer for "Weekend at the Cabin" and Purchase your own copy or rent it today. Help support your Indie Artist. Tell a friend. Have a great day.
You know, the tiger shark they got in the beginning was actually a real shark. Look closely at the faces of the people during the photo scene. You can tell they can smell it XD
If i would have been older when i first saw this movie, i´d jizz in my pants. Instead it just blew my balls off xD.
Seriously though, this movie is great for it´s time. Just too bad they had to f-ck up with the other movies. And why, oh why haven´t they made a Jaws 5 yet? C´mon hollywood!!!
I just noticed that "monster madness" is a really bad title. Not everything he does is a monster. But I guess it depends on your definition of 'monster'.
my favorite part is where Quint gets bitten in the stomach by the shark on the boat and blood sprays out of his mouth. Ahhh, I will always love this movie:).
The name the Jaws crew gave the shark was Bruce, they named him after Spielberg's lawyer I think. That's a nice bit of useless trivia but now I want you to remember Finding Nemo. Remember the lead shark's name? I'm inclined to think that was deliberate
My mom told me she saw this movie with her older cousins when she was young. Then that night she got into bed and she was scared to put her legs off the bed cause she thought the shark would bite her
Steven Spielberg said that he knew Jaws was going to be a hit when they were screening it in Dallas, and a fan left the theatre to throw up, but came back to finish the movie. That's fucking awesome.
Saw this at an outdoor screening once. I'd seen it like five hundred times at home and so had everyone else probably . . . still applauded at the end. Awesome.
@MessageWarning Saved eh? Saved from what? A place of torment and torture that your god created for people who simply aren't gullible enough to believe in someone who never makes himself known while people that have murdered and raped get to go to a lovely pace for all eternity if they simply become a believer in some vindictive being. Haha it is laughably absurd, keep your delusions to yourself. Hopefully you'll free your brain someday.
I remember watching Jaws at a young age and always loved it. the way you get little hints like the men hunting using the meat, there's no Shark Just music!
the blood curdling screams, to the men all having the reasons, Just the Suspence, the music short scares and blood. this makes it My all time favourite film
Back then he was all about story an character's, Now he's about Aliens an Effects.
Jaws is a masterpiece because it's the only Shark movie ever made that actually has quality character's. Brody, Quint, an Hooper made a great time an even when the Shark wasn't around you weren't bored to death or annoyed.
Not to mention, this has the best looking shark in the entire series an it was made first.
yes Smellikemespirit but there are good shark attack sites on the net too. the liksharks site has lots of attack videos, but also has research on each shark species and information about extinction of sharks. Type likesharks into google and its the first result
@solitarydot a shark at sea eates people. horror is like more expected as having a scary character goes on a killing spree. not having a shark just biting people.
@TheRebelsoldier12 Bollocks, Horror ranges from things like The Night of the Hunter, and Repulsion to The Wickerman to Rosemary's Baby to Duel, not just some clown in a hockey mask cutting up oversexed kids. The scarest movie I've ever seen about a man going on a killing spree is Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.
@cha5 i didnt really say it was all about killers. i just think that the main reasons for people to watch horror movies are the killers you know what i mean?
@TheRebelsoldier12 Not really, if horror movies were limited to slashers that might be one thing but when you've got horror films that range from The Exorcist to Jaws to Night of the Living Dead, all the way to The Human Centipede I'd say the main reason people like to watch horror movies is the primal fear factor that has always been a part of the horror genre. Like the old Lovecraft saying fear of the unknown is one of mankinds oldest emotions.
@TheRebelsoldier12 And like I said, slasher movies are NOT the beginning and the end of horror movies, Horror movies date all the way back to the expressionism of Caligari and Nosferatu to the Universal horror monsters, plus the reason why people remember Bruce (the shark) from Jaws is that it was unseen for most of the movie which ratched up the fear factor far more than some cheezy slasher flick killer or a CGI shark ever could
@TheRebelsoldier12 Cont "horror movies are mostly know as the killers and stuff"
That's only if you limit horror films to slasher flick characters who suffer from an overdose of unending adnauseum sequelitis, It doesn't cover things like
Repulsion, The Night of the Living Dead, Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist, Jaws, Cannibal Holocaust, Suspiria, Tetsuo The Iron Man, Let The Right One In, the movies of Dario Argento, Fulci, Del Toro, and too many other horror films to count.
Have to say that it's more horror than "Twilight", which is apparently considered to be in the "horror" section of movies...And god knows I sure as hell won't ever view those movies as horror movies
The only problem i have with this movie is that it was rated PG, I mean come on, u got a naked girl, a decapitated hand, a kid getting killed, blood spirting out of water, a deformed leg sinking down the ocean floor, and a guy getting eaten and raped by a killer shark, and there telling us this movie is only Parental Guidence, i think they were on some serious drugs and cocaine.
@kevin72013 I saw this in the theater when I was 4 years old. It was the greatest film experience in my life to this day. NOTHING I've seen had the impact on me and the culture at large more than Jaws did. It was terrifying yet it was an incredible story with very powerful characters. The score made me a lifetime fan of John Williams and is a huge influence on my own music. There was nothing but positive results from seeing this film. Today's society has become so SOFT! Stop overprotecting kids!
@Caleb2296 Yes, I know. The way you worded that they didn't have any good CGI. Even if they did have good CGI they shouldn't have to. Why can't they just use practical stuff and make things like they used to and not half ass it on a computer.
Jurassic Park is kinda like a horror movie, instead of Sharks attacking it's dinosaurs. Theres blood like Jaws, theres decapitations, and in the beginning of Lost World a Little girl "dies".
So...you've never actually...SEEN a shark, right? Like, even on video? Must be hard being that big of a shut-in. Better than some crappy piece of CGI garbage.
The moment where the corpse comes out of the hole is the scariest movie moment of all time for me. It's the only time when I watched a movie that a literal chill went down my spine. I was 10 when I first watched it and I'll never forget it.
@venomfan3412 They had to fight the authorities hard to get a PG rating . Speilberg talks about it on the DVD special features his argument was that sharks attack people everyday and non of the film was science fiction .
i remember in that movie the scientist that was supposed to put the syrom in the sharks mouth! the dumb bitch drops the stick and then pussys out behind a rock while the other guy has to kill the shark himself! that made me laugh my ass off
@lalajbluv i've seen the first 2 films. 1 is one of my favorite movies. Jaws 2 is also a great movie. As for 3 and 4 if your here the plot you know there gonna suck i'll never watch those
this was the number scariest movie according to brAavo. and I agree because this stuff really does happen. almost every day some one gets eaten by a shark.
Shark may look fake but if you saw a shark that looked like that you'd shit yourself more than if you saw a normal shark, mainly cos you wouldn't know wtf was going on.
i watched this movie when i was pretty young, but instead of scaring me it actually made me like sharks and be interested in them. i dont find this to be a horror movie.
i dont feel shocked or anything when i hear the music and know jaws is coming. i just feel the glee building up knowing that someones going to be eaten.

I can't believe that this movie was rated PG!
venomfan3412 8 months ago
@venomfan3412 They had to fight the authorities hard to get a PG rating . Speilberg talks about it on the DVD special features his argument was that sharks attack people everyday and non of the film was science fiction .
SaorAlbaComingSoon 8 months ago
@venomfan3412 this was before r rated and pg 13 so you have to rember that

this was the number scariest movie according to brAavo. and I agree because this stuff really does happen. almost every day some one gets eaten by a shark.
rageahollic33 9 months ago
@rageahollic33 Actually, it's a VERY RARE occurance. But yeah, it's still some freaky shit.
My money is still on "The Exorcist".
VenomShock 9 months ago
in the 70's this was scary. now most of the horror movies from that time is kinda funny
jaspersen219 9 months ago
Shark may look fake but if you saw a shark that looked like that you'd shit yourself more than if you saw a normal shark, mainly cos you wouldn't know wtf was going on.

i watched this movie when i was pretty young, but instead of scaring me it actually made me like sharks and be interested in them. i dont find this to be a horror movie.

DarrylKerr 5 months ago
@DarrylKerr In Jaws? I don't think when they made Jaws, they didn't have that kind of good CGI.

@scottieman2 i have to agree with that because jaws is kick ass just the way it is

@scottieman2 I suggest you look up the Robot Chicken sketch about a "re-mastered" version of Jaws. it's hilarious, to say the least.
