i highly doubt than u can pull back 72 lbs at twelve years old and if u can i can garuntee u struggle with it and make a bunch of movement. try drawing ur bow while facing strait down garuntee you, u cant do it
@hunter45694 r u getting a new bow or a bow for the first time if u r getting one for the first time start off low in build up ,if new start off what u feel comfortable shooting
if you can pull it without twisting and contorting your body than yeah it is fine. if you have to struggle than back it off a little. no sense in hurting your shoulders.
@survivallover200136 honestly, from a coaching standpoint, 45lbs at 12 is a little much. I try not to have my young archers pull more than 20 - 25lbs at that age. It has a lot to do with the cartilage in your bow arm joints, and the growth plates in that arm being compressed beyond repair.
Someone needs to turn the dw down on Tristan Roberts bow. Pointing a bow skyward on the draw should not be allowed. You can see he is struggling w/ it.
The reason they're not shooting 500 yrds is because they're out to have fun... Welcome to the outdoors, where nothings a competition, just an experience.
@cbizzkit why does every 12-15 year old think they know everything about archery? bla bla bla my league this my league that....then watch videos on your league....when you need a ride to an archery event your opinion doesnt matter....
@cbizzkit actually im 14, at the shoots i got to they range from 20-40 yards i dbout you shoot 50 yards. YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO SHOOT 50 BUT 14 YEAR OLDS DONT SHOOT THAT FAR IN 3D
i like 50# im 13...no i don`t have trouble with it...actually i like it cause u have mor penetration, and better accuracy(the arrow goes farther without dropping.
HEY !!!!! im 17 and i shoot 72 lbs !!!! dont tell people that others shoot 70 lbs because of their (male) ego.... i shoot 72 lbs because i can .and i like to use my highest pin all the way from 0 to 45 yrds ! its harder to mess up if you missjudge distance .i like to make sure my arrow is able to pass tru sholder blades if it has to .try goin tru a hogs shoulder blade with a 40 lbs bow.. the extra f/s and force matters ...yes you can kill one but the chances of wounding an animal are greater.
If you don't feel like your struggling while your drawing back and your shooting tight groupings I'd say your fine.I'm just breaking into 15 and shooting a 70lb Hoyt, and there's nothing wrong with me doing that, the key is to draw with ease of the bow. Happy hunting !
@bigblaine3 That's about 19 yards so that's not too shabby. Why 60lbs though? I am 34 and I don't think I need anymore than the 56lbs I shoot. Don't do it just b/c you can. If you struggle to pull it back or it causes you to point the arrow skyward then bring it down some.
@LTsurvivalskills well i'm 12 and i can do it. just tried it today. i think i'll stay like this and build some muscul. plus i'm a girl.

compound bows are to easy to shoot go the traditional instinctive way longbows and recurves require more skill.

why are they shooting such short shots? im 14 and the shots at my archery club are mostly 30-50 yards. these kids are shooting like 20 and 30.
cbizzkit 1 year ago
depends on the class they shoot and asa's stipulation as to maximum yardages for that class.

ohh makes sence. how old are those kids?

wow just get a 40# compound bow and PRACTICE. you will be fine with light carbons, the trajectory will be flat enough.
maybe its your male ego wanting to pull 70# or something. 40# is plenty for any deer.
Skill will out weight power, and a 40# you can shoot all day and never get tired, plus you can rove with blunts and not destroy the arrows.

im 14 i pull 65lbs with no problem, and at that short of a distance those arrows should be touching, even at 30.

prrroooobably because there are close to 50 shoots at an asa event....try shooting 50 shots and see if you dont wobble.
