Thanks for this mini-interview. It is good to hear that Women of God are willing to say that He is more important that Me!! Men deal the same way...30 years single has been tough, but His grace is more than sufficient for me and all of us! I have been able to do some awesome things in my life and am encouraged by others who are able to be single and not pull the depressing card all the time. Yes, I struggle with my singleness, but Kari said it...embrace this season while you have it!!!
I think I have found peace with being single. I am constantly reminded that Jesus is my husband and I have His love letter, the Bible, to read every day. "My Beloved" by Kari Jobe was like a love song straight to my heart from Him because every line reminded me of verses He's given me. I Cor. 7:34 When I first read this I was angry because I didn't want this to be my answer. Then I was ok with it, then it gave me peace and hope. We only have this short time to show our love for Him here on eath.
I think thats really cool that this video was posted :) I'm 22 and single, but I know God has my back and will bless me with a relationship in his time. For all those worried about V day... I'm planning a girls night for all my single girlfriends. Baking cookies and watching a chick flick to celebrate the love that is going to come for all of us!
Whenever I want to do something good, evil is present. I just pray to God for a wife, and that is it. This can be the preparation time for the marriage life. There is no telling. It is far better for us to do things THAT God wants us to do. Surely, the enemy would not have you do the will of God. He would try to tempt you to go astray. "Do not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever" is not something to ignore; that is the deadly verse against the enemy.
Reason we might be so focused on singleness is because constantly our mind is fed with the idea life starts when finally we find our mate and because of that we might be so focused on the moment it finally is there. And because of the focus and the constant reminder, it makes it hard at times. What I'm learning is to "seek first the kingdom of God..." His promise will come in time, try to know Him better and serve(1 Cor7:34) and not to be discouraged! He is good and faithful!
I'm 31 and single, and have never been in a real relationship. I've gone on dates, but that's it. At 16 I said I'm not going to get into a relationship for the sake of getting in one.God has guarded my heart. Things do happen in seasons. As my friends in their early 20s started getting married and I was left behind I had a season of bitterness. I recently was shown by God that He knows best. I finally gave it all to God,and do believe all things happen in His time. Fall in love with God!
Single and never married past 40 in the Church is most definitely a trial. I'm well past 40 and I am convinced that the Apostle Paul himself would not be allowed to be a pastor (as he was single for life). It is the unspoken prejudice of the saints. If you choose to remain single you will be shunned (with a smile) so prepare yourself.
It IS difficult for me to be single right now, especially when V-day is right around the corner. I've never been in love and I feel cheated b/c all of my friends have, or are in relationships right now. Seems like EVERYONE is in love but me, everyone is attractive, but me:( I'm only 18 but I feel overdue; I never had a high school sweetheart but I'd like to meet the man of my dreams here in college n he hasn't come yet :( On the flip side, the SECOND my friend entered college, she met sum1, sigh
@PrettyTiaF I've been there before, and I know the feeling on V-day. I'm 31 and I can't say it's always been easy. The one weakness that the devil could always get me in was my singleness. I had the doubts that I was ugly, not smart enough, not what guys wanted, but that was far from the truth. It made me hate God at one point. I used to see a relationship as a right, but it is a blessing. God knows when the right time is. He used my singleness to help other younger friends struggling too
@crazyay Thank you for that! I read your other comment below, and when you said that things happen in seasons that really encouraged me. Lately, I've been thinking, "Do I really want to meet him now? Tomorrow? Am I ready?" and I realized I'm not:) One day I will be though. I guess that's what a part of singleness is all about:)
@PrettyTiaF You're welcome. I thought I wanted to get married at 23-25. I'm glad that I didn't. At 31 I can honestly say I'm in the best place right now. I'm spending time in the relationships God has given me with my family and friends and using this time as boot camp before marriage. I'm travelling more, I bought a house, I'm spending time in my hobbies. I'm living life and not sulking because I'm single. I'm enjoying it before things change when I get married.
I agree shes a beauty! it wont be long for her... But some* of us.. 'our season' has lasted for wayyyyyyyyyy to many seasons.. & were still waiting and some of us has given up waiting as we see ourselves getting older and older.
Don't steer the wheel in the wrong way when it comes to being single, but rather look up straight and know that it is a gift from God. I truly believe in this verse when I heard a Pastor reads this verse: "I wish everyone could get along without marrying, just as I do. But we are not all the same. God gives some the gift of marriage, and to others he gives the gift of singleness." 1 Corinthians 7:7 NLT. Be content with your status & live a pure & holy life for God becus in all we belong to Him.
She is such a beautiful person, both inside and out. She will make someone an amazing companion for life, and seems to be so happy and full of life and faith!
God has the right one for us, of His choosing......I'm 49....never married.....I do have someone special and I'm hoping the Lord leads us down the aisle.....what we have is soooo beautiful.....it's HIS call, though.....(smiles!!)......
@StandingintheGap4You Well your just a few years younger... I figure if it has taken this long... it may be because we have messed it up somewhere and chose the wrong type of man/men in the past. Because why would God give that 'FAVOR' to some and withold it from others?? I think the enemy would have us think so, so because we beleived that lie, we gave up somewhere along da way. Or* settled for someone who was a lot less then God's Best. I'm not settling any longer and I'm not persuing either
@StandingintheGap4You #2. If it's His Call.. he wants to make it happen and get all the Glory for it! I'm Done... In the meantime. Lets adore him and do his work...
I think it's great to be single. I was 24 when I married, my wife was 28. I was glad to have the extra time to mature my walk in the Lord. I wish I had been more ready, to tell the truth. Now my relationship with the Lord is so much more integral to everything I do, family and work and all, that I wish I had used my time more to find strength in God for what I need to face. Marriage is wonderful but not a thing to rush into.
I am still single guy Mark Evans---musician, worshipper, love Jesus. Am 55 years old. god is so good! Earlier in life I was so worried about findind the right woman. Just live in God's wonderful love and life each day in His Kingdom--I'm for marriage but all those single--be content in the state and season you are in--it's make life in Christ much easier
@markaevans777 Oh and I said I am for marriage but also if God has called you in the state you are in--be filled with all the fullness of God in christ Jesus and just fulfill what God has for you to be in this life!
I'm learning how to really love God truly because true love comes from HIm. I am also learning how to love myself truly. I am filling my voids with God so that no man can fill them temporarily.
I like how all of these guys say dibs and I would marry her, she's probably single because we as men are so disrespectful. I'm only 18, yes she is attractive, but I am like her, waiting for who God wants me to have, it's no rush, yes being single has its lows but it has many highs, and honestly a girl right now would keep me from focusing on Him, I want to share God's love, not just with a wife, but hopefully thousands of people.
@Living4YouToday whats disrespectful about being attracted to kari? we were partly made to be attracted to the opposite sex. i can understand why men would find her attractive. as long as they arent saying sexual things, there isnt anything wrong with what theyre saying.
@ElectrikkPaperClipxx It was mainly towards the person who said dibs, it really isn't that disrespectful compared to how most of my buddies talk about women, but these types of things seem to tick me off. Dibs is defined as "a claim of rights" or ownership over. Kind of seems like a word that imposes her as an object. I don't like to get into huge arguments about these things, I'm as guilty as all men in these matters, but I try my best not to since it is a huge issue in today's culture.
@Living4YouToday i see where youre coming from when you say the word 'dibs' seems to be a way of owning her or something, but when they say that, you know they dont really mean that right? they just say that on the slim to none chance that they do ever meet her.
@Living4YouToday Amen! I coldnt agree more. God knows the desires of our hearts. In the Bible it even say it's not good for man to be alone, he will make a helper suitable for us! I trust GOD. I've been waiting a looong time. I never had a boyfriend before. But God fills that emptiness with his peace and love and patience. God will bring us someone when we are SO strong enough in our walk to not let a relationship take our focus off of HIM.
@Living4YouToday You have a rare maturity for just 18 years old, and top of that for a young man....impressive! You are right about not being able to focus as much on God with a partner in your life. I feel the same, I am to be 30 tomorrow actually and am a single mom of a 7 year old boy and though it would be nice to share my life with someone someday, right now I'm enjoying every bit getting to know God better, and I trust that in His own time He will reveal who that special someone will be :)
Its not why is she single or what is wrong with her its thank you GOD for using your messenger to do your will. She is serving our Lord and Savior and in his time he will bring her the husband he has chosen for her. Its all in Gods timing because it is perfect")
Ive just turned 25 and im still single and its the desire of my heart to meet my future husband BUT God is teaching me patience and to wait for His best eventho sometimes ive met someone and gone Lord is this the one and its not so then i have to cut it off and seek the Lord about again. It is hard to wait but like Kari said enjoy the freedom in God in this time and He will lead you to the right man. For now Jesus is my husband :) and im dancing with Him so He can let the perfect guy cut in :)
Miss Jobe, I would love to take you on a date. I'll be going to a course in Texas soon. I'm changing my job in the Army to be a Combat Medic and I'd love to meet you!
God is teaching me patience. I pray for patience and guidance everyday. I'm 27 and am frustrated by being single. I see friends my age married and starting families and feel like I am missing out! However, I take my strength and patience from the lord. He has a divine plan for all of us. Waiting is tough but trusting in my creator, I believe God will guide me right!
it is very hard to be single in your 20's i just turned 23 today which i know isnt that old to some but when all of your friends are married and have kids its hard to feel young. sometime i wonder what those people have that i am missing, but i remember if i was supposed to have someone hed be here and God has other plans for me. i am trying to humble and patient. somedays it is really hard to do though.
ur not missing anything God just wants u to focus on him right now.. i just turned 20 and god placed my husband in my life a year ago. I wasn't looking to be married that soon if ever becuase i was enjoying what God gave me. here i am 8 months pregnant in our first year of marriage and sweety it is super busy!!!!! enjoy the time to your self and God cuz it is precious and like Kari said.. it's a season and u will be happy with the quiet single time you had in your life!!
@TheEmilyturrell Your definitely not alone there. Nice to know others have been there though and feel or have felt these same things. Kari's a great example of one who's been there and still running strong. Pray up, embrace and be happy with being single. Not easy to practice i know. But its definitely nice to hear testimonies from those 'older' (not old) can be a example of what its like to wait on the Lord. :)
It is a challenge to be single and be in your 20s, when you see your girl friends with boyfriends, fiances, husbands and you're just like okay, when do I get to experience that? Kari is so right I'm in a season and I need to trust God and embrace Him during this time in my life. I do find myself staying busy so I need to find more time to rest in Him. The problem with guys, its hard to find the ones that are content with being single and that are on the same page of being okay with being single.
my husband didn't get it at first when i didn't want to date and wanted to just be single but since i made him just be really close friends he wouldn't change a thing... some boys just need the help!! stay strong! ( and married life is crazy so enjoy ur singleness while u have it cuz God will give u ur husband when u least expect it)
nothing to hold them back, they can spend couple hours in prayer, and do whatever God say or they feel like doing. we don't have that, but i do love my family and would trade them in for anything,so if you be patient male or female,it will be worth it,marriage is a serious thing. Yeah its not easy for alot of people but it's exciting time because its just you and you God. Be encourage saints. sometimes i just want like 5 min to be with my lord, and i have to be like "Lord why u gave me them?lol
she said some powerful stuff, i hope single people were listening, enjoy that time of being single (the freedom, especially for a woman because we have to be submisive to our husband), spend it with the lord, make him your everything, no its not easy especially if you want a mate, but be patient and Dwell in the holy place (yes it exist). I'm speaking as a married woman here, the lord gave me my hubby, and we have 2 kids, but sometimes i envy single people, because if God say go, then they go.
Man! Kari has such inspiring words. Now I'm not like most the rest who are about 25 or so. I'm only 15. What makes it hard for me is I am the youngest in my family. I see what my sister has and I want it. I see want my parent have and I want it. I see want my brother has and want it. I see what a lot of other people have and want it! What a fool I am! I have what they dont have and that's extra time and energy to spend on God! Sometimes that's easy to forget but this video is a GREAT reminder!
Being single definitely has been very difficult at times but I imagine what it would be like from God's eyes. He's written an amazing story and he has a plotline for all our lives. Maybe we'll find someone today or maybe in a few years or maybe not at all but God's story for us will always end well if we let Him carry it out.
@impasse0124 well I am 26 and never been married, I ask the same question from a mans point of view god how come its this way right now? I mean I hope I do I don''t want to die alone, let alone in my youth but she is 29. God brought me to this person,to think I was the only one it is plan and a plotline, I agree. but I think Not at all? that's not fair if you would like to have someone in your life then again embrace it like she said.
@impasse0124 wait, its a blessing! where all young, and waiting on God to provide are peace, finances, and for God to bring someone special to in are lives to share with one another in his time. I believe this why I am still single, its God's plan for me he knew what I was going to do wrong let alone think in my head before I did. The Lord is so good to the world
oh wow! idk he teaching me a lot that I don't even know if I can learn it. Well, I know he want me to not get in a relationship with a coworker of mine because we do not have the same goals. um.... The Lord is teaching me that being single is where He wants me right now. Hes teaching me that he will bring the correct husband when he will. He is teaching to love like Jesus does.
It is definitely hard to remain single while everyone is getting married having kids. I am thirty-six and have no family because I converted from Islam. It gets especially lonely when Thanksgiving and Christmas come around. God wants me to put him first even before my family. I question God too, but I have to admit God keeps me content through the rough times, and heals me like no other.
I spurred me on to ENJOY fully this time of my life!!
To answer Priscilla's question: I am enjoying singleness, waiting on God's timing--there was a time when it seemed like EVERYONE is the WORLD was getting MARRIED...BUT ME...And that season WAS HARD...but now that the "dust" has settled, the weddings and hoopla are over, and my friends are settled into marriage, I find that I am settled, or "content" with singleness...and like Kari said, I am free to venture out with God!
too right, what kari said. i'm 25 years old and had a super short relationship, which just wasn't meant for me or for her. it is hard sometimes, being content, especially if you really want to have someone to walk hand in hand with through this life journey. this is a season for us to learn who we are in Christ. i also find myself either spending lots of time at work, ministry, or around family. but that time i have is precious to God, so i must devote it to him first. great encouragement!
I'm 28 and single. I've never even dated anyone before. I go through stages where I'm fine and other times I just want someone to share my life with. It's not that I need someone to complete me or anything I just want someone to share my life with. It's hard. I think this time of year makes it even worse. And especially when everyone around you seems to have someone. Contentment is hard but not impossible with the Lord's help. :-)
Yes it is a struggle as a 22 year old woman. I've had to come to point of saying, "God let your arms around me, and love be all I need." I need to be content with God, instead of wanting a guy or girl to talk to and spend time with. Once we're content with Him then I believe he'll bring someone in our lives...if it's His timing. :)
This was very encouraging for me to hear. Especially in this time in my life. It seems there are so many options, but how many would God approve of, you know? :) thanks so much for this encouraging video!
I love her ability to be real and show and admit this struggle...she is a wonderful encouragement! I'm a guy (not really a video for me) but I'm waiting on God's plan...and it's a struggle. :) thanks!
I have been single my whole life and I'm 25. mabey God is smoothing rough edges on my future husband? I'm waiting on Gods timing on the romance department of my life:)
Thank you Kari!! I was engaged for almost two years and just got out of that relationship. It is a transition going from something in your comfort zone to a different relationship. But, I've found companionship with God and knowing he is there and he has always been, and always will be is so comforting to me.
This is such a hard topic for me right now. After getting out of a bad relationship and just wanting to be loved I need to be encouraged and to know this is just a season in my life. And God will use it for his Glory!
Thanks for this mini-interview. It is good to hear that Women of God are willing to say that He is more important that Me!!

Maybe we'll find someone today or maybe in a few years or maybe not at all but God's story for us will always end well if we let Him carry it out.
impasse0124 2 months ago 4
@impasse0124 well I am 26 and never been married, I ask the same question from a mans point of view god how come its this way right now? I mean I hope I do I don''t want to die alone, let alone in my youth but she is 29. God brought me to this person,to think I was the only one it is plan and a plotline, I agree. but I think Not at all? that's not fair if you would like to have someone in your life then again embrace it like she said.
brandthman85 2 months ago

WOW~ I LOVED THIS!
I spurred me on to ENJOY fully this time of my life!!
To answer Priscilla's question: I am enjoying singleness, waiting on God's timing--there was a time when it seemed like EVERYONE is the WORLD was getting MARRIED...BUT ME...And that season WAS HARD...but now that the "dust" has settled, the weddings and hoopla are over, and my friends are settled into marriage, I find that I am settled, or "content" with singleness...and like Kari said, I am free to venture out with God!
jekeeley 2 months ago 3
too right, what kari said. i'm 25 years old and had a super short relationship, which just wasn't meant for me or for her. it is hard sometimes, being content, especially if you really want to have someone to walk hand in hand with through this life journey. this is a season for us to learn who we are in Christ. i also find myself either spending lots of time at work, ministry, or around family. but that time i have is precious to God, so i must devote it to him first. great encouragement!

WonderStruck426 3 months ago 10
Yes it is a struggle as a 22 year old woman. I've had to come to point of saying, "God let your arms around me, and love be all I need." I need to be content with God, instead of wanting a guy or girl to talk to and spend time with. Once we're content with Him then I believe he'll bring someone in our lives...if it's His timing. :)

This was very encouraging for me to hear. Especially in this time in my life. It seems there are so many options, but how many would God approve of, you know? :) thanks so much for this encouraging video!

Thank you Kari!! I was engaged for almost two years and just got out of that relationship. It is a transition going from something in your comfort zone to a different relationship. But, I've found companionship with God and knowing he is there and he has always been, and always will be is so comforting to me.
