Hey Soldier! I counted the cuts on the 3 - 3 1/2 inch comparison, the Bahco Laplander went thru in about 67 strokes, the Trailblazer went thru in about 122 strokes (accuracy plus or minus a few). Makes sense if the Trailblazer cuts in only one direction, while the Laplander cuts in both. Anyway, thought you might want to know. Great vids, lots of fun to watch. Yours truly, another soldier.
If the trailblazer only cuts on the pull and you push down when you push forward it will vibrate fairly excessively and has a higher rate of fatigue. With the pure pull cut saws it is basically pull/relax, pull/relax, etc. .
The handles are very different any comments on the ergonomics?
@CliffStamp Well I certainly wouldn't describe it as pull/relax, since I don't feel that at all when using it. Either way, the blade has to move forward through the wood, and if I'm going to make that forward pushing motion, I'd like to do some cutting as well. If you watch the sawdust when I cut with both saws, you'll notice that with the trailblazer it only flies rearward, but with the laplander it flies forward and back. The Bahco handle is much more comfortable in use.
@cachewild Sorry, I was unclear, I didn't mean it looked like that was what you were doing, that is how the pure push cut saws are designed to be used. I have several of them, if you try to cut with them on the push you just get excessive vibration and not a lot of cutting for your effort.
Interesting on the handles, the Bahco doesn't have the contouring that the Trailblazer does, but grips are very person dependent anyway.
