But the CIA and the British MI6 did NOT play the hand of the coup, only to likely knew it was coming. Our only role was to fund the Baath Party and that was it. Saddam was one of them BUT he wasn't the leader at that time. He then overthrow the guy in 1968 by himself and this one had no CIA involvement.

What I find interesting about this mini documentary is that the former British Foreign Ambassador, and Saddam's attorney felt that Saddam should have gotten a fair trial, which I agree with, BUT regardless of what ever evidence the defense would have given there was more than enough evidence of Saddam's atrocities against Iraqi citizens, Iranians, and whatever else he may have done. @swepa2 The previous leader, Qasim, was assassinated by the Baath Party members in 1963 with the backing of the CIA and the British MI6 due to his ties with the USSR. But the CIA and the British MI6 did NOT play the hand of the coup, only to likely knew it was coming. Our only role was to fund the Baath Party and that was it. Saddam was one of them BUT he wasn't the leader at that time. He then overthrow the guy in 1968 by himself and this one had no CIA involvement.

What I find interesting about this mini documentary is that the former British Foreign Ambassador, and Saddam's attorney felt that Saddam should have gotten a fair trial, which I agree with, BUT regardless of what ever evidence the defense would have given there was more than enough evidence of Saddam's atrocities against Iraqi citizens, Iranians, and whatever else he may have done. I am for fair trials so we don't have some type of McCarthyism, but if the evidence is damning then your SOL.

@katrachosps well i dont know much about his sons but yes your right he shouldnt have been executed, he at least kept order in iraq and the sunni, shia and kurdish people were all under one voice, it didnt matter to them that they were different they were all iraqi, but what im saying is bush and blair and their administrations kill alot more people then saddam, they should be tried and sentenced to a much more severe punishment then what i felt saddam should have got
