handsome prince??? charles is everything but handsome. I think it must have been hard for him too. marrying a woman he didnt love. but they caused diana sooo much wrong. they destroyed her life. and that she could not attend williams wedding just broke my heart. she would have been so proud. sometimes life is really really bitter and hard.
Its just so beautiful and romantic watching things about Charles and Diana its just so...........so magical oh I wish I was alive to see it oh and Charles looks handsome on the wedding day :-)
I was at the wedding but did not sleep out in the Mall - something I regret to this day given the atmosphere friends told me about.
The night before there had been a big party in Hyde Park which was huge - I did not see much in view of the amount of people there.
Nonetheless I did have a feeling of foreboding. I could not understand why Charles (who seemed ancient to me then) was marrying someone not too bright and who seemed too young for me.
Camilla's family is of no consequence, the mother was from a family of common whores and the father was only a war substantive major in the army. In the 1970' camilla over indulged in drink and conducted herself in a loud, crude, uncouth and MANLIKE manner. Combined with whoring around with anything in trousers over many years & getting numerous STD's was certainly not considered as "conducting herself in a gracious and pleasant manner" more like a VILE fishwife in a brothel!
David Emmanuel is the tackiest person of all time. Also, the fact that they didnt even consider that her 25 foot train would have to go into a tiny carriage to travel to the wedding is considered an enormous, ridiculously stupid blunder among any who make clothes. He's always on TV talking about that day, which seems arrogant to me when the wrinkled, mess of a dress was the only thing that went wrong.
@alanheath3 Well, I'm not a fan of trains but it's traditional. Even the length is dictated, though Diana wanted to go longer. I can understand why it would seem suited to such a huge church, with all eyes on a tiny woman. Still, any designer (costume, fashion, interior) should think of functionality first. That's their job, to translate the clients desire (like a 25 foot train) into something possible. I can't even believe they didn't once consider how the dress would be transported.
@counterhon Maybe my background makes me think of practicality first - thinking with my brain rather than my heart which no doubt makes me a boring person! The transport issue seems to be the first thing one would think of - or maybe the weight of it I don't know.
Diana was 20 - and perhaps a not particularly mature 20 at that. In a way I am glad she got the dress she wanted, maybe she could look back at one thing that went right in her marriage.
@alanheath3 YOUR brain would be better suited to a design position than David Emmanuel's. No design that isn't functional should be created by a professional. It's criteria #1 for a successful design.
It's certainly nice that Diana went so wild with her dress. I've always wondered if, privately, she was as mortified as everyone else that her dress emerged SO wrinkled and ghastly looking. She never would have let on, if she was.
Good gracious, they are going over this again! Thank you for posting this, but I wish these people would get over it already. It was a marriage made in HELL! With an ugly dress btw! Ugliest dress in the history of Royal Weddings.
Så väldigt söta par oförglömlig minne av Diana stackars jag saknar henne.

I have since lost my interest in older women.

@counterhon I don't know much about fashion so my opinion is worthless. Nonetheless you are getting it.
What is the point of a train? Surely there are mops and brushes that can clean the floor equally well but are much cheaper?
