I play with picks and fingers. I play guitar and bass, it all depends on what style of music I am playing, to achieve what sound I want. Some bass, I prefer pick (this song), Some I prefer finger picking. It's all personal preference, doesn't make a person less skilled or not.

i tried using a pick it was just harder for me so i use my fingers i like to play all types of songs if you want a cleaner sound you use a pick

no ppl use picks for a more heavy sound.

it also depends on the type of music you are playing as for if you are playing jazz or blues you might use slap bass or finger picking, or if your playing classic rock you can finger pick, but for faster music it gets harder to finger pick fast enough espesialy on this song where your playing 2 strings at same time one open other 10 9 8 7 cant rly do that with your fingers

Don't listen to him. You can play bass however the fuck you want. I put a video of this song up, and I thought I did okay on it, but everyone ripped it to shreds and was saying how I had wrong tabs and shit. But I was playing what you are I believe, and there's no way theyre wrong. good job on the song

Actually, I think that a real bassist plays with every technique (pick, pizzacato, slap, tapping, flamenco...). Kinda like Les Claypool.  It doesn't really matter what kind of music you're playing as much as the sound you want to get out of the instrument.

I've been playing bass exclusively for about 22 years and when my band plays out I play slap, finger-style, pick and have even used drum sticks from time to time. What ever the song needs. I suppose if purplellamamafia were to play bass in a limited fashion as the stuck-up self-righteous person they come across as being, then realize that "traditionally" bass is played with a bow.
