Beautiful version, and very nicely played. Were the embellishments and ornaments your own? They are very pretty and pleasant to hear and compliment the main theme well.
@PSearPianist@PSearPianist Wow.Improvising like that is pretty impressive.I find I can only do that kind of on-the-fly embellishment in a limited number of keys; predictably, the 'easier' ones, C major, F major, etc, with fewer sharps and flats to contend with. Guess I need to play more in the less common keys to extend that improvisation ability. Watching some more of your playing now, thankyou for posting so much good stuff :)
Thank you - I do try, as expression is so important in music. That's why I find much British folk music played by ensembles so disappoinging - everything comes out at the same dyniamic level.
Ahhh, such shimmering beauty! As an American I relate to this genre from the Scottish settlements in North Carolina's Appalachian mountains, and the folk music infused by that influence. Truly lovely.
Thank you! For my part, I find some American folk music very interesting. Although not from the US, the Celtic-linked musical culture of Cap Breton in Canada is also fascinating.
Love the Scottish folk-songs. It's a real challenge to take a folk-song (any folk-song) and make it artistic. It's the best way to mix human culture and someone's own individualism and imagination. Bravo.

@kozanstatue Thank you very much. They were my own embellishments, and my arrangement was extemporised!

Thank you - this was a bit of an experiment but maybe I should do some more 'covers' of folk tunes.

Thank you - this is something I am interested in doing as there has been a big revival of folk music presented in many different ways here in the UK.
