And please don't misunderstand the statement I just made - animal cruelty is despicable and animals should never be used for tests that are anything less than necessary (and by that I mean life-saving). While I support things like stem cell research and cloning research on animals before we progress to using the dangerous methods on humans, it is completely immoral to use animals for cosmetics tests, or inflict cruelty or abuse on them in any way.

Some "scientific" experiments on animals can be considered cruel, but that mostly falls into the cosmetics category, which I do not consider science.

True scientific experiments on animals, such as breeding pigs with genetic alterations in order to be able to use their hearts for human heart transplants, are very beneficial. An animals life, although precious, does not have the value of a human's.
