I did 100 lengths today at my local swimming pool in 1hour 35mins which is like a length a minute. one length is 25m so I did 2500m which is equivalent to like 1.6 miles if you round it up on a calculator, so pretty cool seeing as I only started going about a week ago. Now I just gotta resist fatty foods, Im not fat at all but kind of defeats the purpose if I have fish and chips tonight haha.
@LordMoxas You can do with just 2, I do during anything but the longest distance passes and warmdowns. Just alternate the side you breathe at every 50m. If you can stand it breathwise, try with 3, that way it doesn't matter to alternate sides when swimming laps and it transfers well to openwater swims. Imho, more than 3 strokes before breath is stupid unless its specifically to train oxygen starvation.
so for mid distances saaaaay the two hundred... so you're going to swim a hundred half intense then the last hundred you swim full steam?? I dont really understand since ive only been swimming for two years (this is going to be my second) so any advice would be great :)
@zapperydoop I don't swim that short, but I got a good tip from someone that does: Swim 100m dashes such that when you stop, you need 10-15 seconds of panting before you can talk without stopping midway through a sentence. Learn to repeat that amount of effort by repeating the 100m sprints enough times. Then when hitting 200m for real, do 100m like you've training and go for broke the last 100, max effort and if you feel dead 15m before hitting the wall, then perfect :)
@ppjr04 ur 50 free is good for a freshman, im a senior and my fastest is 24.6, and 50.3 100, but im a sprinter i dont do long distances/cant, thats y i looked up this video, but ya this is very good for a freshman
hey, anybody out there have any tips for joining competitive swimming? i haven't done it for a few years and i would like to come back. any advice message me.
@amazin303 just practice, practice, practice, swim a few laps a day before joining a team so you get back in the rythem, but its hard just dont quit and hopefully ur coach wil help you along, mine did and now i swim a 24.6 50m
i swim for 2 hrs a day 6 days a week. swimming is a very hard sport that takes time to master. I am a backstroker; breatstroke being my weak stroke. I belive that swimming shapes a person and teaches many things such as time management, sacrifice, and dedication. I wish all swimmers great swims and a good season
@lunaluna900 and anyone else, plzzz help me,im doing a freestly swim,200 yards for the 1st time,i plan on doing bad because evey time i do a flip turn ,sumthing takes the breath out of me which makes me do t half ass, plzzzzzzz help me,i cud sure use it
@FutureNavySEAL1997 just pace yourself, take a deep breath 4 strokes before the flip turn and wut helps me is i sing a song in my head, helps take the pressure off so ur more calm with your breathing, hope this helped a little
Our summer swim team is coming up I was wondering if you had any tips? Yes I am om the year swim team but I was wondering if you had any really GOOD tips?!?
@lunaluna900 I couldn't agree more with ya. It really gives you discipline and structure in your life. Sacrifice for sure as well, food becomes fuel and one feels like the entire world smells like chlorine. But I bet you still look stunning, cause it really shapes your body as well. PS: Do you swim with H2O audio, Poolmate watch, etc in training or just plain?
@lunaluna900 i live where there are tons of lakes, i don't feel safe swimming there, well going deep anyways, so i only have 10 meters length to work with which kinda sucks. there aren't any pools in my region for that reason. that really sucks for me, i wanna start swimming like this :P it looks like so much fun.
In 200 free, you wanna start off the 50 feeling like you can go so much faster, but also making sure you aren't going slow. Sprint the next 100 and whatever you have left is what you end it with. This tip gave my friend starting from 4th to 1st leading by near 50 yds.
Thank you very much! Yeah, last week we were taking down times for the 1500m free, I sprinted the first 4 and couldn't cary on any more. So yeah! You're right!
Thx i just swam the 200 free in my swimming league im 11 so its distance and this vid helpe.d
