Its really a shame this got cut. The movie is definately wonderful as is, but this would have added another great emotional scene (something Disney is really good at). Makes you wonder what it would have looked like fully animated.....
I still think that the directors properly removed this scene - "Bolt" yet children's cartoon, but this kind of testimony that the dog had no superpowers ... to put it mildly, not kind.

Also, it shows how Bolt, if the movie is played out realistically, how he would accually find himself with no super powers. Honestly, I would have preferred this in the movie. In this movie, it would have added emotional impact where there was none. I miss the Disney of old that wasn't afraid to touch upon issues of death and loss. This would have been perfect. It's like how they cut out Nuka's dying words in Lion King II ("Well, at least I got your attention, didn't I?"). I know it has to remain family friendly, but I think kids could handle this if they could handle Mufasa.

Cool scene. However, two things - one, personal issue with the cliche "rabid pit bull" use. Pits are amazing dogs that are only violent when people make them that way, meaning the two "vicious dogs" in this video would be seen as victims by much of the audience. Second... why did they attack Bolt? Was there a personal reason? These are the only issues I have with it. GREAT scene otherwise. Well done.

Bolt was a lot smaller than the two other dogs and, because of wolf instinct, Bolt was supposed to submit and give the two dogs the peice of meat. The fact that he didn't (and he thought he could take them on because of his super powers), made the two other dogs take his actions as a threat and so they attacked him, it's the rough way of life. :(

The Art Book says that the filmmakers originally chose Bolt as a location because it was "one of the most fake places in America" and that there, "reality hits you in the morning". This made a lot more sense with this scene, but the idea does kind of work with the final movie. :)

I think i've come up with a good spot where they could have put this, just for my own amusement i guess. :)
Ok start at the scene where Mittens is in the tree and still tied to Bolt. Rhino ventures off to find a ladder. When Mitten refuses to come down, Bolt attempts the Super Bark and when it fails miserably, begins to bark madly. Rhino, meanwhile, is getting a ladder. (Sound familiar? Good)
Now unlike the movie, as Rhino pushes the ladder, he finds a TV in one of the shops and it's playing his favorite show, Bolt. He can't resist. Mittens succumbs to Bolts annoying barking and jumps from the tree. Seconds later, there's a growling heard from behind and they turn to see a pair of junk yard dogs heading straight toward them. They look at Mittens (kitty soup). Bolt jumps in front of Mittens, bites the fraying leash off her and yells for her to get back in the tree.
He'll deal with these guys. "Guys, you don't want to do this." Flashes to Rhino watching show. "You don't know what I'm capable of." Another flash. It then plays out like the fight scene up above. Mittens jumps out of the tree and tends to Bolts wounds. Due to his injuries, Bolt and Mittens aren't able to avoid the dog catcher and are whisked away to the pound.

I could totally picture that in the movie. I think that would be a much better way for Bolt to have discovered the truth. It's a little extreme for Disney, but if it was toned down a little, it would be perfect!

What does the Bolt Deluxe Edition include? Doesn't the normal version come with deleted scenes and many extras too? I wish I have the change to read the comic book though.
Nope, the only bonus feature that comes with the normal version DVD is Super Rhino. :P I wasn't even aware that there were any other bonus features besides that until I saw ur video...I'd have to buy the Deluxe Edition or Blu Ray to get all those other features. :P
I think I'm gonna do that anyway, just b/c. :) So, do you have to spend extra for the comic book? And what's the comic book about? Is it just a comic version of the movie, do u know?
Well, I finally broke down and bought the Deluxe Edition, and I'm very happy with it! I've watched both of those deleted scenes now, and I must say, they both would have been awesome if they had made the movie!
I always felt like the movie could have used a little more drama...if only they could have made them fit...
Yeah, unfortunately they don't quite fit. Does your Deluxe Edition come with the comic book? The word "Deluxe" makes it sound all so mighty and awesome! =) I found out that the Bolt comic book follows the movie exactly, but they did a very good job and allowed for interesting perspectives and drawings.
Yeah, it's too bad, although there are some cool ideas in here about how they could have fit it.
Well, I'm not sure if they're releasing the same versions of the DVD in your country, but in the US, basically there's the Single Disc version that is just the movie, and the Super Rhino clip. The Deluxe Edition is all that, plus deleted scenes, cast and crew interviews, a digital copy, and if you buy it @ Wal-Mart it comes with the comic book
Fantastic scene! I agree that this would have been a much more emotional realization for Bolt and that it definitely should have been in the movie. I've been trying to think of where they could have put it where there would have to be as few changes made as possible. Unfortunately, I can't really think of any. I guess if you have to force a scene, it's a good thing they cut it.
In this scene, I was focusing more on how the directors interchange the scenes of Bolt as a superdog and him in real life. It was dramatic, but the fact that Bolt got hurt isn't.
lol Yes it is! I don't know why everyone keeps overrating this as too violent. Perhaps the lack of clarity and dark sketches allows for more imaginative assumptions.
I dont thin its to violent. I simply just dont like the idea of Bolt getting hurt rather than hurting others. Though this scenes would indeed have a huge emotional impact on the audience, i actually think its good that they decided not to include it.

Actually, the main reason this became a deleted scene was because it couldn't quite fit into the overall plot as mentioned by the producers.

Sadly i got the crudy copy of bolt (the 1 disk) and it only has the super rhino thing i dont have thisD: So i am glad you put it up (i am going tomorow to best buy to get the better edition for 28 $ i think whatev lol

Wow, intense scene! I like dramatic and intense scenes in animation films, but on the other hand this is perhaps a tad bit too dark for little kids.

I think i've come up with a good spot where they could have put this, just for my own amusement i guess. :)
Ok start at the scene where Mittens is in the tree and still tied to Bolt. Rhino ventures off to find a ladder. When Mitten refuses to come down, Bolt attempts the Super Bark and when it fails miserably, begins to bark madly. Rhino, meanwhile, is getting a ladder. (Sound familiar? Good)

Now unlike the movie, as Rhino pushes the ladder, he finds a TV in one of the shops and it's playing his favorite show, Bolt. He can't resist. Mittens succumbs to Bolts annoying barking and jumps from the tree. Seconds later, there's a growling heard from behind and they turn to see a pair of junk yard dogs heading straight toward them. They look at Mittens (kitty soup). Bolt jumps in front of Mittens, bites the fraying leash off her and yells for her to get back in the tree.

He'll deal with these guys. "Guys, you don't want to do this." Flashes to Rhino watching show. "You don't know what I'm capable of." Another flash. It then plays out like the fight scene up above. Mittens jumps out of the tree and tends to Bolts wounds. Due to his injuries, Bolt and Mittens aren't able to avoid the dog catcher and are whisked away to the pound.

After losing the fight, Bolt knows he has no super powers. I didn't really find it necessary to have him see the show. Just another cliche IMO

WOW!!! That was awesome dude! Did you come up with that idea? And are those your drawings? Overall, I LOVE the way it's put together.
I could totally picture that in the movie. I think that would be a much better way for Bolt to have discovered the truth. It's a little extreme for Disney, but if it was toned down a little, it would be perfect!

I'm just now reading up on the bonus features of the Deluxe Edition of Bolt...and now I REALLY wish I spent the extra $5. :P I might just have to buy it anyway...

What does the Bolt Deluxe Edition include? Doesn't the normal version come with deleted scenes and many extras too? I wish I have the change to read the comic book though.

Nope, the only bonus feature that comes with the normal version DVD is Super Rhino. :P I wasn't even aware that there were any other bonus features besides that until I saw ur video...I'd have to buy the Deluxe Edition or Blu Ray to get all those other features. :P
I think I'm gonna do that anyway, just b/c. :) So, do you have to spend extra for the comic book? And what's the comic book about? Is it just a comic version of the movie, do u know?

Well, I finally broke down and bought the Deluxe Edition, and I'm very happy with it! I've watched both of those deleted scenes now, and I must say, they both would have been awesome if they had made the movie!
I always felt like the movie could have used a little more drama...if only they could have made them fit...

Yeah, unfortunately they don't quite fit. Does your Deluxe Edition come with the comic book? The word "Deluxe" makes it sound all so mighty and awesome! =) I found out that the Bolt comic book follows the movie exactly, but they did a very good job and allowed for interesting perspectives and drawings.

Yeah, it's too bad, although there are some cool ideas in here about how they could have fit it.
Well, I'm not sure if they're releasing the same versions of the DVD in your country, but in the US, basically there's the Single Disc version that is just the movie, and the Super Rhino clip. The Deluxe Edition is all that, plus deleted scenes, cast and crew interviews, a digital copy, and if you buy it @ Wal-Mart it comes with the comic book

Fantastic scene! I agree that this would have been a much more emotional realization for Bolt and that it definitely should have been in the movie. I've been trying to think of where they could have put it where there would have to be as few changes made as possible. Unfortunately, I can't really think of any. I guess if you have to force a scene, it's a good thing they cut it.

In this scene, I was focusing more on how the directors interchange the scenes of Bolt as a superdog and him in real life. It was dramatic, but the fact that Bolt got hurt isn't.

lol Yes it is! I don't know why everyone keeps overrating this as too violent. Perhaps the lack of clarity and dark sketches allows for more imaginative assumptions.

I dont thin its to violent. I simply just dont like the idea of Bolt getting hurt rather than hurting others. Though this scenes would indeed have a huge emotional impact on the audience, i actually think its good that they decided not to include it.
