  • I'm so torn I'm sitting here watchin a bunch of natural hair videos onyoutube and its reminding me y i decided to go back natural, however everytime I get my hair done at the salon or if someone else like a friend or even family sometimes they want to relax mt hair, I know it would be easier to manage cuz my natural hair thick long and curly all together so it takes alot of work to care 4 I have been natural 4 almost 10 yrs now I dnt know if i should go bac to relaxers

  • When my daughter started school at 5 all the other brown girls had straight hair be it natural or not and they teased her for her curls. We straightened it for 2 years until it fell out. When it grew back I asked if she wanted it straight still and she said yes. I didnt realise that her hair "hatred' was mostly coming from home. My mother is mixed with 3b hair i am 4a/4b we both used to get relaxers every month. When her hair fell out i did a bc and never looked back. We are both H.T.B.N

  • @LBellaTrix & HighlyTextures that's why I'm bringing my lil girl up to love her now the way it is so hopefully we she's older she doesn't feel like she have to straighten her. It can just be and option

  • BEAUTIFUL. you have no idea what you just did for my esteem...now i'm gonna go pass on the message :)

  • i love this video! I have to admit that when i first did my bc i felt insecure. Society, ppl, advertisement all try to mold black women into how their hair "should look" long and straight. It wasn't until i accepted that i'm beautiful, different and unique that my joy, self esttem and confidence began. I validate me as beautiful, strong, and capable. I am beautiful and so is my hair, kinky and curly! Listen to the positive and ignore the negative!

  • Natural hair will be accepted when black people choose to accept it. I can tell you from almost 4 years natural that black people are the only ones with an issue regarding my hair. If other races don't like it, they sure do hide it well.

  • Right this shouldnt be a question...Accept yourself the way you are and you'll be accepted. Be confident. Confidence is key because you can't be a natural and still fear what others are thinking about you.

  • You speak truth!

  • I think society has accepted us. Whenever i see a black women in a commercial, she is natural (locs, braids, fros, curly hair, etc) 99%. The only time i don't see a natural woman is in a relaxer commercial. SO they are putting images of natural blacks out there, which is awesome.

  • Right on sis!

  • Very well said ;)

  • There is money in making us feel bad about our hair. Your hair style in this video is beautiful for the office wherever. I love my natural hair. After losing heads of hair from relaxers I plan to be natural forever. Yes. We have to accept it before anyone else will.

  • yes. when we accept ourself, then we can make progress. good points.

  • preach girl.. lol =)

  • preach girl.. lol =)

  • Amen Sis.

  • Comment removed

  • @EmpressCarm That is because no one likes pubes on their head.

  • So so true.... I've been natural for a year and a half. I feel so far removed from the relaxed world now. Most sistas look at me like i have three heads... More respect and appreciation from the brothers.. Often complimented by other races.. We need to let go of relaxed hair.. It's so bad 4 the immune system and over all health. Thanks 4 posting my sister.

  • preach girl! love it :D

  • I like what u said it is about money.

    thk u 4 that

  • Beautifully said!!

  • PREACH SISTA PREACH!!!!!! i its also sad when out own people can accept natural hair. and thats just PLAIN SAD!! :( i just became natural 2 months ago and i think it was just the best thing i did. another thing plz see chris rock movie "good hair" it will make you thing twice about your next relaxer! lol

  • You are beautiful sista. Thanks for speaking the truth in this video!

  • @superchick76 How do you know she is a SISTA? What if she is dominican or biracial? So stupid.

  • @Barfetta3000 ..WTF you talking about you ignorant piece of shit. Fuck you and shut the fuck up talking to me about some bull shit that you dont know what the fuck you talking about. Get a life loser and dont bother responding cause i am not wasting my time reading your response BITCH!

  • @superchick76 Okay, easy girl! We hear all sorts of things in the course of a day, we mustn't lose our cool over anyone's opinion no matter how "ignant" they may happen to get at times

  • @earthmotherfromnj ...you absolutley right. ... :))

  • enough said, great video!

  • Girl! I wish i could rate this video 1,000 times!!! Keep up the good work =)

  • saw your hair and had to subscribe.

  • thank you

  • Love this :)

  • u r sooooo right!! Thank you!!

  • THAT'S RIGHT !!!

  • I love your hair! It is beautiful! How did u get it like that?

  • Yep! I remember when I finally had that 'aha' moment as Oprah would say. I walked outside and every kink wasn't in place cuz I didnt have time to add come moisture, I forgot my mascara, my khaki's were a bit wrinkled and I was like... oh frikkin well. i LOVE me and GOD loves me. Anything else, is unecessary ,wasted precious time!

  • Loving itttttttttttttttttttttttt

    You say it girl.............

  • Whoa!...you said a wealth of infomation in just 2 mins!... great!

  • thank you

  • Oh wow, I love the way you speak, it touched me. :) Thanks, as again; Well said.

  • You are ABSOLUTELY right! We have to accept ourselves. I love your hair! You are like my hair twin! LOL

  • Your hair is beautiful, thick, and fluffy..it's all I aspire to! You're so right too, I'm gonna try and get it together.

  • great video thank you sista

  • True to what you have said.

  • Love it!!! I honestly forget that my hair is in a natural style. (unless I get a double take), but still it really doesn't bother me anymore. I am finally starting to be comfortable being ME and it feels good!

  • that's Right!!!! .... I agree.... ;)

  • PREACH ON SISTER! PREACH ON!

Who cares what society thinks? its so true, as soon as you are comfortable with yourself, people are comfortable with you too.

  • What can I say....you said it all! Thanks for doing this video.

  • Just so that you know...black womens' hair just went mainstream when it was featured on the NBC Nightly News. I didn't know the world was that interested in what black women do to their hair. But they are, apparently. Like Highlytexutured said, just go out and show the world you think highly of your hair and they will follow suit.

  • Love your video, made a lot of sense.

  • I agree with you 100%, and check out the movie Good Hair to learn how profitable the fake hair industry really is.

  • Agreed!!!! I was just arguing this topic with a user name maipai I could not have said it better but I get more flack from my own on this topic we don't understand that cooperate america will sell us what ever we will buy they don't care what I hair looks like if we all went bald they will sell try and sell us something for that it all come down to us accepting ourselves.

  • THANK YOU for this. Constant need for external validation is why so many people, regardless of race and hair texture, are unhappy in general. When it comes to black women and hair, I like to think that naturals -- those who aren't hung up on texture and/or length, who accept and love their hair for what it can and can't do, who aren't paying attention to the media, who don't apologize for not being just like everyone else -- are leading a paradigm shift. Our daughters will be the beneficiaries!

  • Thank you everyone for your positive responses! And yes LBellatrix, our daughters WILL be the beneficiaries! Can you imagine, a whole generation of little girls growing up completely in love with their hair? I can't wait! :)

  • so agree

  • Thank you!!! lol finally someone said it

  • AMEN!....'NUFF SAID!

  • Thank YOU !! I'm tired of "some" natural women looking for validation. There will always be someone that has something bad to say, no matter what you do. Why be a slave to their opinions? Steer from negative people and do you :) Let them deal with their issue.

Its about time someone made a video like this.

I'm tired of these validation seeking vids.

  • preach, girl! i had a war of words with a "sister" earlier who kept using the word "they" to describe the opinions others supposedly have of us natural sisters when she in fact has her own self-hate issues. i see so many fabulous black women embracing their natural beauty in the world and here on youtube...that to me is empowering and acceptance enough.

  • Great, great video!!!!!

  • agreed sista girl!!!! tell it like it is!!

  • Tell 'em!!!!!!!!!!

  • U GO GIRL!!! i AGREE

  • VERY VERY GOOD WORD

  • great message

  • true

  • One word: BOSS!

  • WELL WELL WELL said! Such a powerful, clairvoyant statement. I loved your snap at the end! you go girl! LOL

  • So true. I think we make to big of a deal about our hair. Just do with your hair what you love. Be it natural, perm, texturize or whatever it is you love JUST DO IT!!!! If someone loves you then they will love your hair :)

  • PREACH!!! acceptance and keep it movin'!

  • Preach sista preach!!!!

  • the most perfect answer to this question EVER!!

  • Amen!!!

  • thank you, i needed to hear that

  • well said !

  • you anit said nothing but a word.

  • preach hun! you said that there!

  • so true!

  • thank you.

  • I notice more natural haired (is that a word?) women now, but my husband says it's like when you buy a new car, you notice them more. I feel far more confident with my natural hair, because I am the same person I was when it was down my back. I know a lot of my peers don't like "that look" (as I've been told), but I feel beautiful, confident and even sexy. I am learning more about myself, then I ever thought hair could teach me. Besides, it's what the GOOD LORD gave me and I know he knows best.

  • I wish people felt as GOLDEN as I do with my natural hair!!!!! I haven't felt more beautiful and sexy since making this decision. Such good points in this video!!!!

  • let the church say amen!

  • You are so right on. Had I been worried about what people would say I would have never went natural. The people at my job would have never just excepted my new hair if I were insecure and not confident about my hair. They would sense my negative energy I put out about my hair and feed off of it but since I am confident with it, they can't say nothing to me because they might get an ear full if they do. Just like if someone walks proud with something ugly on. You can't really tell them nothing.

  • YES!!!!!!

  • I've seen so many natural hair people on tv, and I'm shocked!! I know, it's a movement with legs, because we are all over the media. Now I'm seeing alot of white women with curly hair too! :)

  • very good points. You don't need to be validated. People will get over it when they get over it. Look in the mirror and learn to love what you see and keep it moving!

  • I totally agree with you. Loving myself!!!

  • i love this video...sucha positive message..I AGREE 1000% that When we accept ourselves and our unique-ness thats when Natural hair will be accepted...5 starz girl=]
