Battle Arena Toshinden is better than the Remix in my opinion, but not on the Saturn, PS1! Saturn only had a few good games for my taste, but out of all of this, the best in the series and in general is the PS1 release of the original Battle Arena Toshinden. Who's with me?
Remix has to have the sloppiest controls I have ever experienced in a fighting game. And yet I have a copy because it is so delightfully shitty! I would certainly recommend Toshinden URA over Remix if you ever find yourself choosing between the two.
@donfolstar BAT and BAT 2 for the PlayStation were the better out of any of the games. However, the series which continued on the PlayStation, 3rd and 4th, were not good at all.
Toshinden series takes a while to get into, but becomes good after you get into the way the control timing is. Especially see Toshinden 3 for PSX, where every character has a semi-redesigned clone. There is Toshinden Subaru 4 in Japan, which I've never actually played.
I remember I played the original BAT on the PS1. I am not sure what other fighting games were out at the time, but I did not think it was that bad. Of course looking at it today it looks and plays bad, but back then I did not know any better. And also, as I recall, attacking some one at their back you do double the damage which sounded unique and fun. Sadly no cut scenes like that though on BAT 1 for the PS1.

OMG!!!!!!!! I played this as a kid this and Marvel Vs Capcom: Clash of super heroes. Were pretty much my first fighting games. I didnt even know people cared about this game i thought i was the only one! This game is so addicting i got countless blisters mashing buttons as a small child trying to figure out how i did that jump move the girl with 2 daggers uses. I used to play this with my sister. This Frogger and Gex were my main games as a child. So glad you were able to bring back good memorys
This is the game that got me into the Toshinden series. I didn't think it was bad at the same, seeing as how i was around 10 or so. I enjoy the characters and wish they would update this series on a more recent console.

I loved Toshinden on the original Playstation, it's a game that's still fun to play, even if it hasn't aged well at all; the sequels were pretty much terrible, though. Nice review.

I think that there was actually a lot of bad quality stuff in the days of retro like there is now, but there are lots of weird retail/developer differences nowadays such as the introduction of DLC, pre-order exclusive content, the importance of online, and so on. I feel there have been some amazing games this generation, and some equally amazing games from the retro era. Good games will always be good, while bad games will always be bad. To me, at least. :)

I feel he should make a CLASSIC channel and then a MODERN channel, dont lie to us and say CLASSIC GAMING REVIEWS when you review fckin Just Cause 2 when it just comes out. English voices sound horrible in BATrmx and dialogues are cheesy, I was lucky to play J-port of this game for PSX...
It's very playable, you can link special attacks into powerful combos or go for ring-out
Each character is unique and plays different, music is beautiful and graphics are stylish.
Every aspect of the game has been improved in it's sequel, BAT2 - being the most underrated fighting game of last decade.

I loved Toshinden on the original Playstation, it's a game that's still fun to play, even if it hasn't aged well at all; the sequels were pretty much terrible, though. Nice review.

@ebicurry Yea ok nostalgic reasons fine, but theres only so much replay value and yes its very limited versus the modern games we have now. But who really wins when he reviews saturn games? I am sure not going to search on ebay, buy it cause "MARKS AMAZING REVIEW" told me to. Its kinda a waste of time for most, and serves its purpose for only a select dying breed, unfortunatly.

The "old" dude over at InecomCompany is doing us all a favor by exposing the younger generation to games we may have never heard of or played before. And y'know, people still do play their Saturns, N64s, PS1s, and so on for nostalgia. Games are a lot different now than they were back then. It's important not to just say "screw old stuff!!!", as that mentality is destructive and ignorant. Respect classics.

I think that there was actually a lot of bad quality stuff in the days of retro like there is now, but there are lots of weird retail/developer differences nowadays such as the introduction of DLC, pre-order exclusive content, the importance of online, and so on. I feel there have been some amazing games this generation, and some equally amazing games from the retro era. Good games will always be good, while bad games will always be bad. To me, at least. :)

@RockyRaccoonYT Gaming history is importance thats not my arguement. Mine is on the handling of CGR as a whole. I feel he should make a CLASSIC channel and then a MODERN channel, dont lie to us and say CLASSIC GAMING REVIEWS when you review fckin Just Cause 2 when it just comes out. People do but not consistently as much as modern, therefore Mark can get more viewers with more modern games. Old stuff sucks anyway, go play your atari while I kick ass in xbox360/ps3 fag.
