"Toto" from the Oz was a Cairn, not an Aussie. We had a Cairn (as well as a Westie) and now have a 3-month-old Aussie. All of these small terrier breeds are terrific companions.
That's a very well trained dog. How long did it take you to teach him those tricks. I have just bought an Aussie. I am picking it up in... lets see about 2 weeks. I'm so excited. And about how long did it take you to potty train toto?
My Australian Terrier has a beautiful and expressive tail and I can't imagine why people dock them. When he wags his tail it is tightly curled over his back; when he's eating or sniffing at something he carries slightly curved like a collie; when he runs he uses it like a rudder straight out in back and curls the tip down as he puts on the brakes. He is always doing something cute and plays with his pack mates but is totally uninterested in toys. To get things going he butts with his nose.
@JewishVegan Dogs LIKE crates. It reminds them of a den. Once at my local veterinary practice a little terrier mix snuck around the back and found a tipped over box which he curled up in. They like a 'den' of their own. The use of a crate in training is to give the dog a place where they can stand, turn around comfortably and lie down but not soil their bedding and have space to cleanly sleep, so they want to eliminate outside.
We have an Australian Terrier to! And we were gonna call her toto. Sandie (our dog) Looks just like Toto the same colour too! What a coincidence! Could you post back and tell us some tips because Sandie is very cheeky and stubborn. We also have another dog called Coco.
@Markpappaz It depends. i have two terriers (australian ofc). The other is really smart. He learned to sit,lay down and give a high five without training, osme harder tricks may need training but he learned the BANG trick really fast. The other one is a bit..stupid ;) really funny dog, but he cant really do any tricks, (but he is clever: He only sits or lies down if you have food in your hand=))
Beautiful Aussie and very smart... He reminds me of Rudy, my Australian Terrier, who passed away last week (very sad). They are wonderful, intelligent, sensitive, devoted and great companions. Wonderful with kids and adults of all ages. Very adaptable dogs.
hes really cute!! i have a 4 yr old tan male with light black shoulders+back.his name is Velvet. he is 15 inches tall and wieghs 17 lbs. being a true terrier, he is very sneaky. u cant leave anything on the coffee table cuz he always steals it!!
Well trained Aussie. HOWEVER... if he were areal Aussie and you made him do all that stuff he'd tell you to go and FXXX yourself.. Us Aussies are just like that....
LOL adorable. I had same one as your, Ah good looking Aussie although the tail look not used to me...I prefer dock tail look best for Aussie Terrier :/ Uh I'm not cruel person :P
