not that Obama did not enter this charade with nothing to lose.
He can go and get the Olympics and say the same ole "look what I got/did for USA" rhetoric. Maybe he even made a few bucks for himself or friends/allies etc. And when he lost, he can fall back on the old I went to bat for America but struck out. But at least I picked up the lumber ,got in the box and took my cuts.

yeah those two fools (Beck-Severin) were slobbering on each other. so they went from the usual self promoting/self important crap to the whole "you scratch my back i scratch yours" approach. still the same result, but this way they both inprove their ratings without looking like they (again) are pulling their own chain. but did they really have anything to lose here?
if they are right, they get to say we told you so, if wrong, they can still state what the pres motives were and he failed....
