  • those were the days..

  • I watched this because of the 700% slower version.

Don't listen to it at night.

  • That's like the worst old modem sound ever.

  • it's what brand modem?

  • NO CHARGE ISP FTW! haha..

  • Damn.... what a nostalgic noise. Now i have fiber cable. Things change alright.

  • must i need to say u need better sound quality

  • lykomygosh its a 8bit modem at 0:02 :D

  • ...and before this I used a 14.4 modem, and then a 28.8

    I felt euphoric when I managed a speed of 3.1 Kb/s.

Nowadays I manage a speed of 1Mb+/s, and that's rotten by today's standard...

  • and that kids was the internet

  • classic lol

  • Love the sound.

  • i miss it soooooooooooo very much!!!

  • Stop talking about the "good ol' days". I bet most of you are young teenagers.

  • @greg77389 Yea, so? For us the "good ol' days" where when we were kids x) I'm 16 and always refer to "when I was young"

  • Sounds better if your using a modem/soundcard.

  • i mis the good old days where youd have to hang up a phone to be on the internet

    :)

  • i was able to sing along with that sound as a kid. good old days.

  • OW! MY EARS!!! POOR PEOPLE (nothig against modems, it just sounds terrible

  • OH I MISS THESE DAYS... :')

  • Screw DSL and fibre, 56k is the shite.

  • Nostalgic..

  • ah the good old times of Noisy 56K modems, Boring gray computer casings and big ass CRT screens. When everyone was using Windows 95/98/NT4.0.

  • @enterprise0709 Memories.....

  • xd, que recuerdos me trae este sonido... mis primeras inmersiones en inet, se iniciaron a finales de los 90 con un modem 54 k , el sonido que emite es realmente orgasmico.... me trae gratos recuerdos

  • Lol, makes me wanna make a modem!

  • Welcome.

    You've got lag!

  • I'm still trying to forget the trauma of having windows 95, with AOL as my ISP on a 56K modem.... My Mom was always "Get of the computer, I wanna use the phone!!!" and i'd say... "Just 5 minutes..." which turned out to be 30 or more.... AOL was not that bad, they were good to me, I was giving 2 free tickets, no strings attached to Six Flags, just for been a customer... I took my then girlfriend now wife whom by the way, met on a AOL chat room. Months later I moved on to DSL, now Cable...

  • that's not what ours sounded like at all

  • 0,0068359375 MB/s

  • Ahh brings back memories :) And later looking at the bill... And figuring out who used internet too much

  • It wasn't an age of horror for me. It was the start of Multiplayer gaming baby!

  • Why using Dial UP??? its ugly slow and costs are high

  • Suddenly I was brought back to an age of horror...

  • aaa que viejos recuerdos

  • i remember diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr EH IH ERH EH AHHHHHHHHH sound affect lol

  • it sounds like a broken ds :/

mine has a weird star trek sound x3

  • hahahahahha

  • is there any chance of having 1 modem and making internet work on 2 PC's, without doing anything too risky???

  • @ThrenodyHate you don't know anything about computer do you?

  • @DemSilverLight computers*

  • @ThrenodyHate yes but why not go for some good old wired connection? Use Ad-Hoc, or use an ethernet cable and bridge the network from one that has internet to the other that needs the internet. Or be less neardy and buy a friggin router!

  • @ThrenodyHate Yes, there is a way.

  • Man that brings back some memorys

  • electronic scream

  • Añoro ese sonido!

  • Kill it with fire

  • wow. a girl who is 23 never heard a modem before?? IM 23 and i was the one fixing the modems at my school granted it was because i was always in detention,

  • I just had a girl, 23, ask me "What's that?"

  • kult :D

  • Nostalgia.... almost gave me a tear listening to this....before realized how modem can piss you off sometimes when you get cut offline, due to someone calling you or some idiot picked up the fone just when you download something "big" as 2mb! :D

  • @hanchiman lmao true!!!

  • @troshs

I am so sad that I even once used this "sound" as my ringtone. :D, but somehow it just piss my workmates off though....

  • i read a majority of the comments earlier and realized that there are plenty of people who did it. if i tried it, knowing me, my phone would ring and I would think: What the hell is that noise?

  • Netherlands

    20 Mbit €19,95 (ADSL)

    120 Mbit €70,- (Fiber)

    I'm on 20Mbit now,

and i have ADSL since 1999, i was like the first in my neighborhood with fast internet :P

  • Almost missed this, but no. =)

  • i remember this XD so retro!

  • brings back memories

  • Sticky shift-key... I meant 4 Mbps, of course :)

  • Zagreb, Croatia - cable Internet, 4 MBps + CaTV = cca 25 €

  • I just realized my cable Internet is so expensive..

    Kingston,Jamaica:8Mbps for $30/month.15Mbps also here.

DSL came first in 2004 then cable about a year later.Still love that dial-up sound,tho..

  • @jamrocx 2Mbps for $40 USD a month in Mexico.

    I HATE IT HERE.

  • lol 2mbps is still better than 56k in other countries.

  • @TheMovieLinker It isn't when you get bumped down to 28k speeds and your ISP says it's your fault, not theirs.

  • good old times xD

    56k ruuuuulez ^^

  • this is like sirens singing in my ear...heavenly

  • hahahahhahahahah i miss the 90s

  • hahahahaaha pwnd

  • To te modemy tak strasznie hałasowały? A to ci dopiero!

  • Wow I remember that. Good times...

  • Good times? You remember how fucking annoying it was?

  • Sounds like being in high school....ooo, I'm about to get porn pics in AOL pic chatrooms and talk to teen girls across the country about sex!! Aw, mom, hang up the phone! You disconnected me!

  • Such a pleasant sound... why did we all switch to broadband?

  • speed... %( It must have got small app to make sound! 8) Diffirent sounds from diggirent countries!

  • adsl is better

  • @mitrion555555

    cable is better

200mb internet connection, 60€ every month here in Portugal lol

  • OMG it's so overpriced there!

10Mbps with no limits is priced around $10/month @ Moscow, Russia.

  • @qcok222

    10$/month but certainly only Internet.

Here it is 40/50$ and we have 100/200Mbps ; IPTV (television trough the phone line), phone, own website, ftp and complete instalation with insurance.

    Not overpriced at all =D

  • @SonGohanbibi

Well, it's definitely worth it than!

  • Faster.

  • o kurwa! ;D

  • Back to the oldskool experience! Great!

  • wow that brought me back!

  • ah the good old days!

  • ah the memories...

  • These sounds still haunt my dreams D:

  • I remember waking up with this sound to my mom and dad using the internet and makin coffee. The crows would sing their terrible toddler melodies in the morning through the pine tree with sun glistening off the dew. I would then lazily scratch my head, yawn and look out the window to meet the day head on beginning with a frontal assault with farts.

  • Did I say tree? i meant pine trees. lol

  • Ah my childhood on 56k.

  • that sound is awesome i almost miss it :S hahaha :P

  • The last time I had a 56k internal modem was in 2001.

Now it's 2009, and I'm STILL using a modem - although this time it's broadband 3G/HSDPA and connects to the cell phone network :-)

  • what isp do you have that makes that pong sound?

  • it's probably netzero

  • im geting broadband on this wednesday i just buy a wireless N router

  • Wow that takes me back...

  • Comment removed

  • i used dialup since 2001 and i did play runescape using dialup. it was sufficient back then. When rs2 came out, in 2004 used DSL.

Still i dont agree that 56k + runescape fail cause there was a time it was sufficient

  • i have cable internet, sadly its what nearly everyone in my neighborhood uses and it takes forever to load certain pages. Is DSL any good?

  • on a torrent?

  • 56k + youtube = bad idea ^^

  • This is the best modem sound I've ever heard.

  • when my dad had dial up internet, only one computer can use it. my dad's fiance has two. now its broadband, dsl, and wireless. :-)

  • I remember the dial up.

I had to tell my mom to get off the phone to reconnect...

    6 years later...BROADBAND!!!!!!!!!!!! YEA, BROADBAND!!!!!!!

  • I remember having to shout at my mum to get off the phone many times, just to reconnect again xD

    Good times.

  • Man... it was a long time ago!!!... ahhhh, the good old memories!!

  • Truly, the classic modem sound was a final reminder that the classical computer user has faced the great edifice of the Internet. This sound was the inscription on it's metaphorical gate, which welcomed all who traveled on it's marvelous 56kbps thoroughfares.

  • Haha I miss that! Reminds me of when I got my first computer back in 1999, haha. That old Dell Optiplex with a Pentium Processor that had only 100Mhz, haha.

  • my 1999 computer had 400mhz celery

  • Wow, a celery powered computer. That's oldschool.

  • First of all if she says that we are going to "start" going to church every Sunday, then apparently they are not doing so now. To group that lady into the same group of people who are devout and live their faith and attend Church every Sunday is ignorant. You judge a religion that those who adhere to it, not by those who do not. If you don't believe in Christ then man up and refuse gifts at Christmas.

  • I'm going to buy one of these tomorrow, god I miss that sound.

  • it actually felt like you were connecting didn't it, now its just on.

  • wtf

  • damn dude don't you know what ats11 does

  • them good ol' days

  • SO GEIL!

  • i remember trying to connect when someone was on the phone XD i heard my moms voice going through the computer

  • Ever try putting a friend's phone number into the dialup screen? I remember doing that once and hearing his mum answer.

  • Um, yeah. I can't, imagine, not, starting, not starting, my day, with, that sound TOO!?.

    :-[

    good. Good, good-times! yeah!?

Actually, when I had to subsist on dial-up, I removed the little speaker, on the board, so I wouldn't hear that annoying sound. You can litterally just pull it off.

But to some, this is gold. I understand. Each to their own.

  • Nostalgics rejoice as you download pictures at a seriously slow rate! Watch as text is downloaded as quick as a dyslexic can read it!

  • 56K owns!

  • My modem did not sound like that.

  • I love the old handshake towards the end....on the 56k modems...good times......good times.....

  • ROFL that's old school :)))

  • My first modem was 300 baud - way back in the 80's. Now I have a 10Mbps cable connection and it seems slow at times.

  • starting with my 56k modem in 2002 .. i were kicked out of AOL all 5 min.. need to restart whta also means that nasty sound all 5 min ..
