Robert Randolph invited everyone onto the stage. I was there, and you can actually see me kiss him on the cheek if you look carefully. It was awesome. Unless you go to Harding, you have no place in judging it, or assuming you know how it is. It is diverse, but that depends on your definition. If we focus on the issues and forget the goodness of it, then what good is that? We aren't claiming to be better or more holy than anyone. We are just looking for a good dance... just like you.

I went to Harding in the early 70's. I was in the first spring sing and I think we won or at least got 2nd. To long ago to remember. I remember our choreography back then and it was nothing like it is today. I think we just swayed. lol. I never really understood Harding's take on entertainment I mean you could dance and sing secular music on stage with instruments but in church it was all prim and proper. oh well, its still a free country. I think.

Just a few comments - this is sad, sad, sad. What kind of message does Harding send the world "Dancing is bad" yet they have spring sing which is "choreography". No one cares what your message is when you blow over something as small and insignificant as a little dancing on stage during one song. It isn't even dirty dancing.

Two - I grew up in Searcy and went to Harding for a few years - YES, HARDING/SEARCY IS NOT DIVERSE.

hmm harding is actually very diverse. in my group of friends alone we had an asian kid, a kid from columbia, and several african americans. one of my best friends is african american. an i lived with 2 girls, one from belize and one from guatemala. so if youre looking for diversity, harding is probably the place to go. every state of the US and a large number of countries are represented at harding.

I saw him at riverfest yesterday and saw plenty of Harding guys there dancing their asses off...then he started talking about how he party's hard when he comes to arkansas and talked about how he partied so hard he got kicked out of a school...harding is so fucking gay

I was told about the dancing that broke out there at Harding. I was so shocked that I had to sit down after hearing such a thing go down. lol Ok well really I can see why they would get mad at them getting on the stage but at them dancing seems funny. I just got two words for ya.. Lets Dance. ^^

What many people don't know is that Harding recently had its annual "Spring Sing". That's where a bunch of the students sing and (Gasp) dance onstage to entertain everyone watching. Why is Spring Sing acceptable? Because, according to Harding, it's "Choreographed Movement". Not dance. Surely even the students can see the hypocracy in this. Who are they (or any of us, for that matter) to dictate how people express their emotions and spirituality?

The majority of Harding University is white but we do have a very diverse student body. Many African Americans, a large amount of Hispanic and Asian. We have students from many different countries. Why do you ask?

I am cosidering enrollment and would prefer to go to a diverse campus such as Harding. I looked at the town of Searcy and it did not seem very diverse. I had read that the university and the town are almost one in the same but that was probably internet jibber jabber. It is hard to find a school these days that is culturally diverse yet still has sensible policies like not being allowed to dance while on campus.

I will tell you because I go to Harding right now that it is a pretty diverse student body, and it's getting more so every year. I am white and so I can't speak for people of other cultures and races and the way that they feel about it. Harding is a great school from my experience.

It's just a rule. Take it easy on the language and insults. It was in Roberts contract to not let people on stage. I was having just as much fun as anyone and I also posted the video, and I thought it was just people enjoying music, but just understand that it's a rule.

Of course it was a rule. From what I understand, Harding did not pay Mr. Randolph for this performance because he did not follow the "rule." Tell Dr. Burks and the rest of the pompus rear ends at Harding to render to Ceasar what belongs to Ceasar.

OUTSTANDING!I loved the "Footloose" comment,it was the first thing I thought when I saw the article in the local newspaper.(Searcy daily citizen)Congrat's to the Daily Citizen for making this a front page story. I do feel sorry for the students who got up and danced.Only because I am certain the college knows your parents phone numbers. As a life long member of the comunity, and a promenant local buisiness owner,I wish to congratulate the students that had the courage to get up and dance!
