  • I think the reason he got marines was to minimize the damage from stalkers cause they also deal more damage to armored units which marauders are. SO i think if he dsnt have to many stalkers marines can be pretty good

  • pretty terribad 4 gate to be honest... going with an early push build, and then not pushing early - especially against an early expand. An early FE will not stand up to a 4 gate with a few sentries in the mix - FF the bunkers so no repair, and its gg for the terran against any decent protoss 4 gate

  • this stilll is legit but it is better if you cut out a bunker leave only 2 and fast expand and get a planetary eary with a engineering you can also then protect your macro style from cheesy stuff with turrets this works on most maps.

  • @IneedAbttrscreenname maruaders simply cancel out stalkers because both units are armored and both have bonus damage to armored units, if you're using medivacs to heal your units then all you have to worry about is having your units bursted down faster than they can be healed, marines are better against stalkers for this reason.

  • MMM is a basic strategy , good player uses full potential of the his race. If u have a toss who has land army with some colosus and higt templars mmm won't do you much good...

  • @RexBaselio throw in some ghosts and it is effective. especially if you do a lot of drops and keep the toss on the defensive.

  • Actually what you SHOULD do at around 8:46, is get a couple of marines and marauders into a medivac, and drop them off behind his mineral line to harass. The fact that he has his forces in the centre of the map would greatly work to your advantage then. Then just right after, or rather at the same time, move your main force to attack.

  • @Daniggatron101 the number simply means the amount of harvester built. Kinda like a mark that tells you to do certain actions during the opening sequence depening on the amount of harvester that you have.

  • @endersgamez umm what are you talking about any good toss will send out a scouting probe or zealot to see what your building at your choke. if all they see are marines then they will chrono boost for a stalker and proceed to check ur expo. the only reason that they wont push in or hold u in your base is if they see a marauder

  • You can just directly target a mineral patch with your mule drop to have them start mining without an additional command, just though I'd mention that because HD fails to do this in this vid.

  • this strat will get u killed verses a good toss lol usually they will stalker sit outside ur expo not waiting in mid forcing u to mass some marauders then move out causing a slow delay while toss expands. ~ over 1000 pt diamond player

  • hey hd is this build effective against terrans? ive been practicing it against very hard ai (still havent perfected the timings yet), but seem to be getting rolled by early tanks in the mm mix from computer as they outrange my bunkers are are protected by the bio ball

    I tried this build and they either do that, or build a warp prism and warp all their units in my main base, and if i pull the units in the bunkers, they will do a dual attack.

  • Looks like a good build but 1 bug flaw is its lack of air defense. From what I see it seems a player could get voidrays or carriers to mop up ground. Plausible counter could be a Ghost EMP round though.

  • @randompiece6 how can you say this build has a lack of air defense? it is all about marines at the beginning, then you're supposed to get an engineering bay so u can put up turrets if needed, plus u have 2 scans if you dont know what he's building..

  • @Moshm4n Mech is still a valuable build. MMM is probably more common but Mech works rather well against Zerg. Hellions wreck zerglings tanks melt ground units and thors wreck both. Plus if you throw some Vikings into the mix you have a pretty dangerous ball.

  • So what if the protoss player stats to spam void rays, or tries to rush you with void rays. What should you do? if you want to try and do this build but don't want to get rushed so early in the game.

  • i've faced a 4 gater. I used a mix of everything. Siegetanks, Marines, Maruaders, Banshees and Vikings. He forgot to expand. While I expanded to other areas. And i upgraded my banshees with cloak and held them back. Its actually kinda interesting. If you face 4 gaters its annoying and they make a proxy pylon which is annoying.

  • @047022221 You scan or you send another scout. And if you still miss it that is why you build supply depots around your base. So you can see things coming sooner and react.

  • @XGeneralBeanX Well Like I said that is why you build the supply depots on the outside of your base so that you can see it coming. And in later level games you don't usually have to worry about all in Void ray attacks. And it wouldn't be a bad idea to scout with some form of air. Perhaps cloak a banshee or use a ghost. And if you are really scared or lose to Void rays a lot you can put up turrets.

  • @tdreamgmail waiting 2 hours till upgrades finish is a waste of time.. ebays are cheap and rapidly built, and they have building researches instead of just infantry ones.. it's pretty common to get 2 ebays/evo chambers

  • @KiriNoKitsune Well kinda, marauders do counter stalkers but (ironically enough) stalkers also do bonus dmg v marauders. Marines gain no bonuses, but receive no extra dmg from stalkers, its kinda odd. Personally I think its a little (marauders) OP, but I'm a diamond terran so its cool :D

  • Why do you wait until the enemy approaches to put your units inside the Bunkers?

    And why do you destroy the Bunkers later? I assume it's to give your units more mobility to get out of the base.. but it seems like kind of a waste.

  • @TasogareKitsune He waits to put the units in the bunker so they have more mobility, and he salvages the bunker, which gives back all the minerals he spent to make it.

  • @SerjSongsROCK Oh, yeah those are Carriers. You have to direct your units to focus fire the carriers because naturally they will target the interceptors.

  • I wouldn't say Ran FE is specifically good against toss, i'd say it's one of the less effective builds you can use against a toss. As a T in diamond, I like to go 35 supply marauder push, unless the toss is bad he will be able to stall / defend with sentry, however I will pull a couple scvs, bunker below ramp, and contain while I expand.. in almost every case the toss can't break out.. and just loses via slow tank push. The FE build you just showed can be negated by a toss simply FE as well.

  • Just an update, I watched this tutorial and tried to replicate the strat, and I won two, lost three matches. But it's not because of the strat, I'm not a good player, but this way I felt I had more gamecontrol. This is a complete scrub, non-SC player who's trying to learn multiplayer.

  • to make it a little faster try baracks gas obital command/marine techlab barracks maruder/consussive shell marudder you'll have plenty of minerals for an expansion at this time and you can put a reactor on your other barracks..thats my bio toss build 600+ diamond player so I know what I am talking about but I am not at the highest level this is a nice build as well though its kinda hard to be safe against stalkers I really like having marudders

  • @YellowMagi broodlords are a good counter for terran ground mech, plain ol mutas or corrupors are good against air mech, and for a combo, combo broodlords and mutas, it should also give u a small echo edge because mutas cost less than said tanks etc.

  • I used to do this build during Beta. But when I did this after the game came out, I found that I almost always lost to it. Why?

    1. It's hard to transition.

    2. Early harass is really hard to deal with. Dealing with fast stalkers with only 1rax at the very beginning.

    I find that having a geyser, getting a rax with tech lab, and attacking first with two marauders, a marine, and a reaper will help you secure that expo so much faster.

  • @guyw1tn0nam3 I mean, he turtled cause he knew protoss was off of one base. if protoss double expands it usually is risky leaving one of the bases relatively exposed. i mean it's not a foolproof build but it's pretty standard, you just have to adapt accordingly

  • a good modification to this build is to build a reffinery and as soon as you get 50 gas, you take your scv's out of the gas and into mining, that way you get a reactor on your racks, dunno if you get more or less marines than the standard build

  • I paly against terran a lot as toss, this will not work so well if they are good at early pressure. By good, I mean double fast stalkers chrono boosted the second the cyber core is done. Yes, you can do that if you get your timing just right.

    Luckily he wasn't too good and I could stop it, but that could've killed you here for example.

  • Can you do a PvP tutorial? Please tell us how to stop the zealot rush which means getting a proxy pylon near the enemy base and building a gateway there massing zealots. Its impossible to stop if you dont do the samething or get cannons but if you know how to stop it plz tell us

  • @pinkrainbows The only way to stop it is pylon in your base 3 gateway to zealot rush as well... if its PvP the first 1 to stop massing zealots loses :D well its more like a Zealot v Zealot while teching up slowly, and it becomes a guessing game, orrrr you can mass canons, and expand into mass void rays,

  • @pinkrainbows a zealot rush is ez to tell... go scout your enemy base and if there isnt or is just one pylon when he should has an assimilator, hez rushing. get about 3 cannons (and slowly more) on your ramp and tech up quick.

  • @pinkrainbows scout early and scout well. You'll have a time and economy advantage to him, so get quick units out and take care of his pylon/ probe/ cannons :D

  • @DaneRare this strat works well for protoss, its not a strat to do against zerg as they can probably do a baneling bust or something. For zerg, do the Barracks to factory reactor switch strat and then get banshees

  • Love me some macro. This is a great build for people who like longer running games. I got some great tips.

  • All you guys talking about void rays and collosi countering this are being kinda silly. If he rushes with Void Rays there will only be at most one or two and these marines WILL stop that easy. A Collosi would die quickly to the mauraders. Once you get your FE the idea is to TRANSITION into another build based on what your opponent is doing. You need to scout, scout, scout! Much moreso than HD does in this video even.

  • I tried this but took too long, fumbled the build order, then got Void Rayed and Carriered to death :-p. Will keep at it though!
